ATM? Journey/Holy Land 10/25

OK, this is probably a really stupid question, but we haven't cruised before. When we travel we usually use our debit card at an ATM to get whatever local currency we need. We don't carry a great deal of cash. Are ATMs readily available? I don't suppose there's one onboard. We'll be in Italy, Greece, Egypt, Israel. I'm wondering if we'll have to always exchange currency onboard. Additionally, I've seen conflicting info on which countries accept what--Euros, USD, local currency??? I've found that I get better prices on stuff if I use the local currency, but that can be a hassle. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi Heelan !

Im pretty sure there is an ATM onboard the ship. There is also the option of exchanging currency at the ship's Bank. Hopefully, others will chime in with some further advice. I hope this helps. Enjoy your Cruise.

We are on the 10/25 cruise,as well. Italy and Greece will be euros. We always use the ATM's and they are not difficult to find. In Turkey, Cyprus, Israel and Egypt we are taking the ship's tours and should be able to use USD and euros. If not, we will use ATM's. On previous ship's tours in Turkey we used USD and euros for small items.

We have been on Journey twice and I don't honestly remember if there is an ATM. There usually is but they give you USD and we don't use them. If necessary you can get cash at the casino but there is a fee.

For large items you can always use a credit card but most charge a foreign transaction fee. I use Capital One when abroad because they do not. Hopefully, this info will be of some help.

I have used ATMs in Italy, Greece and Egypt and had no trouble finding one. I usually go to a bank at some convenient point and they have all had ATMs, often called Bancomats. Be sure your card issuer knows that you will be making charges from overseas and your PIN code has only four numbers.
