stevecmo Posted August 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Hi Everyone, I just scanned our daily activity sheets from our June 12th southbound cruise from Seward to Vancouver. If anyone is interested in what the ship activities are each day, enjoy: Day 1 - June 12th (Board the ship in Seward) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630449302_GhXUs-M.jpg Day 2 - June 13th (Hubbard Glacier) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630449587_rfjSf-M.jpg Day 3 - June 14th (Sitka) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630449872_mpF63-M.jpg Day 4 - June 15th (Skagway) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630450029_RMcb4-M.jpg Day 5 - June 16th (Juneau) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630450211_bDQcW-M.jpg Day 6 - June 17th (Ketchikan) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630450431_nK7iq-M.jpg Day 7 - June 18th (Cruising Inside Passage) http://steveandcathyc.smugmug.com/photos/630450627_Ngkcm-M.jpg Day 8 - June 19th Disembark in Vancouver Hopefully this gives some folks an idea of what goes on during a cruise on HAL. Anyone interested in seeing our pictures from the above ports, or our pre-cruise land tour, is welcome to look here: Hope this helps those planning, or thinking, about a trip to Alaska. Have fun! fann1sh Posted August 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2009 If anyone is interested in the northbound ones, Vancouver to Seward, please post, and I'll try to scan mine and upload them to Webshots. I did the round trip, July 31 - August 14.
want-to-cruise Posted August 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks for posting this. We will be on the southbound Ryndam next summer. Could you list some of the acivities that you did, such as the digital and scrapebook ones if you did them?
fann1sh Posted August 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2009 The digital classes were excellent. A Microsoft "techspert" gives you hands on experience with Windows Live Photo Gallery. You can download this free and useful program at home, if you don't already have it. (But at home, I still can't find the "paint" function used for airbrush editing). Each class is held multiple times over the week, and there are "open" times when you can work on the laptops on your own (ie., upload pix from your camera to a flash drive.) Generally, there are 4 "techspert" times per day. Sorry, I know the scrap book classes were popular, but that wasn't my thing. My favourite activity of the day was Team Trivia. Twenty questions plus bonus question, teams can range up to 8 people, generally about 45 minutes, and the most laughs of the day. There is daily sudoku and a daily quiz each morning in the Exploration Lounge = library + computer centre. Culinary demonstrations and classes are usually a highlight for me, but I must confess on this port intensive trip, I didn't do much except see Alaska. Benji817 Posted August 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2009 Wow!! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures! I am doing a similar cruise/land tour on the Ryndam next year. Sitting here at work and looking at your pictures.... I am SO EXCITED! :D
stevecmo Posted August 28, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted August 28, 2009 fann1sh, I did the digital photo classes as well and thought they were very good. When I got home I checked my pre-loaded software to find that the Live Photo Gallery was there but didn't have the option to open pictures in Paint as you described. I went to the Windows download site and there is an update available that does include this option. Hope this helps.
fann1sh Posted August 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2009 Steve, I found the function - finally. If anyone is curious about the "Extras - Paint" function, here are links to two photos. First, one with a telephone pole in the middle: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2001026700105503019mPqTDP Next, the shot with the pole "painted" out: http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2090346850105503019yTBaPe I've become a Windows Live Photo Gallery convert, and am proselytizing!
