Is there snorkeling in the bay next to each resort worth seeing? Hi, Just thought I would let you know that I have been doing some research and if you want to do either of these they sound really nice, but if you don't want to pay a fee, so far I have seen that La Audienca and La Boquita are good choices if you just want to take a cab and snorkel. La Boquita is farther. Both have beach activities and rentals and good local food pretty cheap. Google them and you'll find good info.
karfest Posted August 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2009 If you want to go to a resort, both are nice but I would give a slight edge to Las Hadas. If you want to have a really cheap, fun beach day you should take a cab to Playa Miramar. It is on the opposite side of the city from the port but has a fabulous beach and lots of options. Your best bet is to have the taxi take you La Boquita in Club Santiago. (that's where our house is) Many palapa covered restaurants at one end of the beach and lots of other bar/restaurants along the whole stretch. There are a few shots of it on our blog at livinginmexico.posterous.com

Is there snorkeling in the bay next to each resort worth seeing? I emailed both a couple of months back. Las Hadas is $30 US to use, and then you get $30 US back in vouchers to be used for food, drink etc at resort. Karima Palace is something like $70 US. I deleted that email right away cause I knew we were not going there. So Las Hadas it is for us. Robert

Is there snorkeling in the bay next to each resort worth seeing? We did the Karmina Palace as an excursion thru the Spirit in March, it's a beautiful spot, there are pics in my signature. We had heard that Las Hadas was getting a little run down and Karmina was much newer so we went there, besides the ease of doing an excursion through Carnival, might cost a bit more, but to us it's cheap insurance to not miss the ship, have to mess with taxis, etc, etc.
CaribbeanLVR Posted September 1, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2009 CathyZ, EXCELENT photos of the Spirt! WE will be on it December 21. Have Empress deck Cat 9A # 6279, and sisters family is directly above on Verandah, 9A # 7301. Looks like a couple are darn near that cabin. Thanks, Tim

Thanks, Tim I know exactly where cabin 7301 is, great location! Most of our group's cabins were in that general area and aft also (corners wraps are so nice!). We had a great time on the Spirit (and Pride before), our favorite class of ship so far (we're trying out the Splendor next month, so we'll see if that changes). Have a great cruise! crzndeb Posted September 1, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 1, 2009 A group of us (8) went to Las Hadas last Oct. and had a great time. We didn't come close to using all of our coupons, but not all of us were having cocktails either.

Thanks Yes, it's an all-inclusive so everything is included. They put a wrist band on everyone on the bus on the way there. They had a very nice buffet inside and an outdoor grill and a couple of bars, one of which we were hanging around most of the day!

apollobeach Posted October 17, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 17, 2009 Last January 2009 we spent the day at Las Hadas. For $30. each we got a day pass and coupons for food. If one takes towels from the ship you will not have to rent them. The rental rate for towels (as well as food was in pesos) equaled about $15. per towel. The taxi ride from the ship was about $12. ( $15. including tip). We had a great day at Las Hadas!!! Rick/John

apollobeach Posted October 19, 2009 #16 Share Posted October 19, 2009 We each got a coupon book of 300 some worth pesos. After using half our coupons for 2 towels, we ordered food and bottles of water from the pool side menu. Sorry I don't have an absolute answer for you, but I assume drinks are on the pool side menu.
