tiggermom Posted December 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2004 Can you tell me if there is a way to tell which cabs are better (safer) to take than others? I know that when we were in Jamacia that Carnival recommended a certain color plate to look for. Thanks.
The Islander Posted December 31, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2004 Hello Tiggermom, The VI Taxi Division regulates rates, regulations, dress code, conduct, handles complaints for all licensed taxis in the Virgin Islands. Licensed taxi vehicles are labeled with: a taxi placard or dome light on the roof, license plates that indicate Taxi status, On Duty/Off Duty sign in the window of the vehicle and a sign, usually on the fender, indicating passenger capacity. The drivers personal identification/taxi license should be on the vehicles dash board. cruisinaz Posted December 31, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2004 When you get off the ships there are lines of taxis waiting - all appeared to have proper signage for the documentation. It was $3 pp to go downtown (to give you an idea on pricing).
