BillB48 Posted April 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2017 Yes, she is the first passenger ship to use the new locks. Perhaps there will have to be an asterisk along with her being the first. The asterisk denoting that she is the first passenger ship to use the expansion, but *has previously transited the Canal as a Panamax vessel*. AFAIK the Caribbean Princess will be the firs neoPanamax in the new locks, however that won't be until October. Hope to find some pics or a vid. BillB48 Posted April 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2017 From Canal de Panama's FB page. At Agua Clara Locks this AM
BillB48 Posted April 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2017 Now to complete the transit, a short video of the passage through Cocoli Locks. Not the best looking video, very grainy. There is one shot of the duck's butt that was added to the Wonder which makes her too long for the old locks.
BillB48 Posted May 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2017 Here is a short video provided by good old Walt on the Wonder's passage through the Agua Clara Locks. The Wonder's name for her day in the Canal was S-16Z, you just never know when that might be a question in a trivia contest!
BillB48 Posted May 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2017 I found a longer video of the Wonder's passage through the Agua Clara Locks, about half way through the video there is a quick time footage of the lockage. What I found interesting is they did not appear to put lines out making the ship fast to the lock wall, which is something they do for "regular" ships that use the new locks.
