tenpin Posted July 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I hope that is true, absolutely loved that ship and the Atlantica. Seemed like all my favourite ships went to the Far East during the mid 20's Princess and Costa in particular, bring them back I say and send the Diadema & Luminosa out there, certainly those smaller ships were much nicer than those coming out now. G.M.T. Posted July 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Good news from Costa about the Victoria. The Victoria itinerary is leaving on an 11 days cruise to Singapore (24th. Oct. 2017 - 4th. Nov. 2017). She will then do three 14 days cruises from Singapore (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia. Then either a 28 day cruise (17th. Feb. 2018 - 17th. Mar. 2018) or a 21 days (24th. Feb. 2018 - 17th. Mar. 2018) both from Singapore to Savona. The only difference is the 28 day cruise does a 7 day trip to Thailand and Cambodia. Costa seems to be in a hurry to get her back, very few ports on the repro cruise. We did Dubai - Singapore on the old Classica in 20 days. I personally would wait to book a cruise on the Victoria, let her first be de-Chinesed and her new Filipino crew had gotten used to her after a couple of shake down cruises. The neoRomantica is also offering more Japna, Korea cruises.

greg2014 Posted July 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Question is if Costa is planning any refurbishment of Costa Victoria before/after repositioning it to Europe ? I was on Costa Victoria in Oct 2016 and must say that this ship has much lower level than any other Costa ships I visitited so far. It is also much different - f.e. has extremaly small fitness studio and (probably because of specific of Asian market) big casino. Does anybody know if Costa is planning to change sth inside the ship ?
G.M.T. Posted July 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2017 I am also certain that the Victoria will be Europeanised once she is back in Italy. In the past when a Costa ship was in the Far East for just one season, it was refurnised once back home. The Victoria has been away for some years so she is bound to have a major make-over. Serengeti228 Posted July 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) I have just booked my first 2 Costa cruises on the same day: a. Victoria - 21N, 24 Feb 2018 - 17 Mar 2018 (Singapore to Savona) b. Pacifica - 14N, 7 Dec 2017 - 21 Dec 2017 (Savona - Guadeloupe). As a newbie on the Costa, I have yet to investigate further about this company, except for the cruise itinerary and price, of course. I have the following questions: 1. The Costa agent in Europe told me that I have no choice of dinner seating (i.e. 1st or 2nd) and bed configuration (i.e. twin bed convertible to queen) as I travel alone. Is it true? or it depends on the cabin category being booked? 2. I travel alone. Does Costa adopt fixed dining table/time or free style dining on these ships? How does Costa organize the dining table for the singles if fixed seating is adopted? i.e. language and nationality mix? 3. I applied for Costa Club membership online. It states it requires few days to approve or in other words, they need to vet!. Will I get anything from the mail or will this membership status just be reflected on my cruise card on board? Thanks. G.M.T. Posted July 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2017 I have just booked my first 2 Costa cruises on the same day:a. Victoria - 21N, 24 Feb 2018 - 17 Mar 2018 (Singapore to Savona) b. Pacifica - 14N, 7 Dec 2017 - 21 Dec 2017 (Savona - Guadeloupe). Oh my, you ceratinly believe in putting your head in the lion's mouth, although with an ID like Serengeti you must have a lot of exsperience.;p So here goes with your questions: 1. The beds are mostly twins that can be pushed together for use as a queen bed. If you are in a suite, then you will eat in the speciality restaurant - anytime dining. Samsara cabins eat in Samsara restaurant. If you have booked a normal cabin then you will eat in the MDR which will have two fixed sittings 18:30 and 20:30 (times can vary). There are two categories for the normal cabins, Classic where Costa will assign the time and the other is Premium where you can choose (online before the cruise) the time you want. The Premium will also give you additional perks. 2. Costa tends to seat passengers according to language (i.e. English speakers together), also putting single cruises together. If you are not happy with your dining arrangements, see the Maitre 'D asap to see if they change things. Check the daily program for singles meetings (if interested) and also for get togethers organised by the English speaking host/hostess. 3. With regards to Costa Club, once you have been accepted, you will get the Club Magazine (emailed, also available on Cost Web sites). Also the level of club membership will also be refelected on your Costa Sailing Card. Check out the Costa web sites for the various perks for each membership level. Any more questions- just ask. GUEST080219 Posted July 20, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2017 1. How does Costa organize the dining table for the singles if fixed seating is adopted? i.e. language and nationality mix? If you get a regular cabin you can just tell your room steward the first day that he/she should put the beds together or separate them as you prefer if the configuration you find is not to your liking. If you have booked a classic fare you can not chose your dining preference. If you booked a premium fare you can do that under mycosta.com My last cruise on the Diadema I could just walk up to the MDR for their variation of freestyle dining and I got a table for myself. Always located near english/german speakers so they probably get this info from your room number and/or your choice of menu language. For my next two cruises I there is no freestyle dining available so I chose 1 guest at the table which I hope will result in a table for myself again. Serengeti228 Posted July 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2017 Thanks Michael and GMT. I booked the basic and classic cabin, not premium or above, on these cruises. The booking that I made direct with Costa is not given opportunity to choose the timing for fixed dining seating and the Costa agent said I don't have the choice. Does it mean I will only find out after I am onboard? Of course many things can be requested onsite onboard, but, where possible, I prefer to sort this particular dining time out ahead. Thanks. ejincali Posted July 20, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 20, 2017 If I remember correctly, to request a specific dining option before departure, you need to select a premium cabin or a suite.
G.M.T. Posted July 20, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 20, 2017 Does it mean I will only find out after I am onboard? Fraid so, there will be a card in your cabin when you arrive stating, restaurant, time and table.
aliceatsea Posted August 23, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 23, 2017 We just booked her for Singapore - Savona: February 24th - March 17th. we just booked this trip as well. RMS Olympic Posted September 22, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 22, 2017 So happy to hear the Victoria will return to Europe. I sailed her in the Caribbean when she was new....loved her. I hope Costa will consider bringing her back to Ft Lauderdale for winter months. As for her interior....she was thankfully not a Farcus decorated ship. My hope will be that the refurbishment will be done by whoever did the Romantica...still the best redesign I have ever seen. Talking of the Neo Romantica...I personally think she should have been permantly assigned to Florida cruising instead of Asia....and give MSC some competition. So once I see what Costa does with The Victoria....I will put her on my to do list. In the meantime I need to consider the Smeralda inaugural cruise.
