  1. I was watching a video of a guy cruising on The Sun to Alaska in August 7, 2023. He said that the ship was only a little more than half full. That seems really strange for an Alaskan cruise. Aren't all of the ships usually full? I know the Sun lacks some "amenities" that some can't live without but I also know that there are plenty of people who like that kind of ship, me included. What do you think gives?

  2. We just booked the Sun for a 10 day Alaska cruise July 5. Since we are platinum, we get two free specialty dining meals. Can I make a reservation for them now? If I do it through their website, it's going to charge me for the up charge and of course don't want that to happen. TIA.

As a new user this complication is likely not essential. Can't you just pop an evening antihistamine to clear airways a bit for this one week? I bet the rest of the world thrives without burdensome crutches like this, and I would try putting it aside at least one week a year anyway to see if no longer needed.

If you have been prescribed a CPAP, it is important to use it every night and also during the day if you nap. It is not a complication but a potential life-saving method. As far as the rest of the world thriving without using this "burdensome crutch", I don't think so.

how can the crepes be "homemade" if you're on a cruise ship? isnt homemade usually made at "home" LOL. we were on the star last month, and crepes were available ( and being made right in front of you) at the dinner buffet

Well.... if I would have asked about the "ship-made crepes", who would know what I was talking about 🙂

I was looking at seeing Pearl Harbour a day or so before our cruise leaves.  To do it on your own, do you see ALL that is offered through a tour company?  I get that the admission to the National Park is free, and maybe you do have to pay to see other parts?  Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri, Sub, Aviation Museum, Oahu Circle Island?  Thanks for the advice.  Oh and is parking easy there?  We're renting a car for a few days too,

I'm guessing that you are not on a cruise because how would you be able to see Pearl Harbour a day or so before the cruise leaves? Is that the case?

  6. Starting to think about my Hawaiian cruise and am wondering what works best with the washing machines on Crown Princess. Can I use a washing machine POD and just dump that in with the load of clothes? And how about the LAUNDRY DETERGENT SHEETS? Do they get the clothes clean. Or should I just stick with buying detergent on the ship? TIA.

  7. Right now, I have booked an excursion through the ship (Crown) to tour Peal Harbor. Very expensive. (My husband and I like to tour through the ship's excursion because once we had a bad experience when a tour operator almost didn't get us back to the ship on time.) But I see that we are in Honolulu until 11 PM, so that really is enough time to do a tour on our own. So I'm asking the following:

    1. What is a good/reliable outside tour company to use for a Pearl Harbor tour?

    2. Is it easy to get an Uber to get from the ship to Pearl Harbor and do this on our own?

    3. Any other information you can provide to make this an easy process that saves us money?

  8. There are many reasons why people are loyal to cruise lines. Here are some reasons. Some people . .

    1. Do not like change.

    2. Do not want to pay for extras. (They like being a gold, platinum or whatever member)

    3. Do not want to start over gambling with another cruise line. (They like the free rooms they get because they gamble a whole bunch!)

    4. Only go for the ship and not the location and excursion.

    5. Like a cheap or expensive cruise line and they stick to that one.

The list goes on and on.

I still don't understand how it's controlled by a computer.

I can see that the odds of winning anything are terrible if you have to get 4 matches. How many suitcases get opened in one show?

Not for the contestant but it is for all the others playing. Because all numbers eventually called, the computer knows how many matches there will be.

  10. Just returned from a BTB 14 day cruise with NCL and we are taking the plunge. We are jumping ship. Here we come Holland America. I did investigating, research... whatever you want to call it. After 10 NCL cruises it's happening. No more washy washy, no more Park West (definitely not sorry to see that go), no more watching Top Gun 3 nights in a row. We loved the buffet, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. Already set for the Rotterdam next February.

Has anyone else jumped ship after being so loyal for a long time? How did it go?

Thinking of decorating our cabin door and need to know if doors are metal (magnetic) or not.  Any help is appreciated.

You can buy great large stickers to put on your door or walls at Dollar Tree. Have used them for years and they peel off very easily. Only $1.25 for a large sheet. We also place them in an out of the way spot near the elevator to help us know which side of the ship we are on. Very low down near the carpeting. Doesn't bother anyone and NCL has always left them on.
