  1. Thank you all for your great information. We are going on the Constellation. I assume we will go mostly to the buffet for breakfast (or room service if we are leaving early for tours) and the buffet or the poolside grill for lunch (or a spot in port). I just wondered what the choices were. The coffee shop must be open during breakfast hours as well - a muffin or danish with coffee might work for a quick breakfast as well I assume? :)

    Tartana;

Your room steward will leave you the daily on your bed the night before or it will be there when you board. It will give you all the hours of operations for all venues check them out and make plans accordingly. More than likely on embarkation day you will have a lunch in the main dining room. Just off the Summit this past Sunday and saw many people in there. Enjoy your cruise!

  2. WOW! everytime I see the price on Normandie it increases like the stock market! LOL

I ate 10 years ago on the normandie and I think the price was like.... $20 then I heard its $40 - then $45 and now $50 .. when does it end.. I think eventually you price yourself out of the market because $100 for two becomes costly.

For the food they serve and the service they provide, try getting it on the outside for less than $100.00. Last year my food shopping bill more than doubled and consumption went down 25% go figure! My oil bill was $6000.00 in 2012, and $8000.00 in 2013. What is one to do?

  3. I was on the Summit trip in may. The rudest person I ever meet came from Texas so you really can not make blanket statements implying where rude people come from.

Sent from my XT1032 using Forums mobile app

Never implied the nasties were from NJ. Sorry you took it that way..I live just over the border of NJ and never had a problem..Hope they say the same of me from NY.

  4. What time did you arrive at the terminal? What time were you allowed on board? What time were you allowed into your room? Just curious. We'd like to arrive as early as possible to enjoy the ship/room.

    Hi,

Arrived at 11am. Was on the ship no more than 10 minutes later. Cabins don't open up until approx. 1pm or a little later. Hope this helps. I do know that Celebrity requests you arrive a certain time per your stateroom, but what I heard from other pax, the request is not set in stone.

  5. We used a car service to take us down to the terminal. Cape Liberty has really changed from last June 2014. You drive up, pull over, signal for a porter. They come over and take bags you want them to take. You then walk thru one main set of doors. Suites to the left, all other categories to the right. We were in a Royal Suite. We were met by a greeter who took us over to a desk where an attendant waits for you to due the processing. The Captains club rep introduced herself to us, gave DW a long stem red rose and escorted us through a door that had a long hall leading to the escalator. Took all of 5 minutes. We used the elevator because my DW uses a walker. Went over a small gang plank and we were on the ship. They offered us champagne, they had tables set up with other items, but before we could see what they were we were escorted to Michael's club.

Michael's club was great. A great bar with beers ordered ahead when the concierge e-mailed us prior to the cruise. We were escorted to Luminae for lunch before going to our cabin. Luminae, a WONDERFUL experience. Ambiance, food and service top of the line. The announcement was made that our rooms were ready, so we headed up there. All luggage was at the door. We were let in by our butler Jose. He explained how everything worked in the room, explained his service to us. We gave him our requests and there after till we disembarked our experience in a Royal Suite was beyond wonderful. Want to mention Bernadeth/room steward and Cassanova..such very nice people. Every night we had a towel animal left for us with two pieces of chocolate. Was really very nice touch.

3:15 was life boat drill. Once done the cruise was on. We were not able to go to Cruise critic sail away nor were we able to attend CC meet and greet because of invites to different activities. Wish we were able to meet you all. Sorry!

We spent a lot of time in Michael's. Met a lot of nice people, met the Officer's. All very friendly and quite gentlemanly. Luminae: can't say enough good things about it. Bistro on 5 was delicious. Normandy, sorry, not as good as Luminae but still give it a 9.5. Qsine is still a very fun place to eat. I don't care if there is only two or ten people, food is great! I can't comment on the different bars as my beer was always in a cooler in my room.

    Bermuda: BEAUTIFUL at all times.

I have to say there was a medical emergency on board Friday night. We experienced two men that were not compassionate about what happened, they were grossly put out that they had to move quickly to give way for the medics. It was very sad. Though when the captain announced that we were speeding up to get back to port and O neg. blood was needed I was told that at least 45 people showed up to volunteer. Our prayers are with the family. No information was given as to the condition of the patient.

The staff were all great on this cruise..but I have to say that there were many pax who pushed, used vulgarity, forced there way onto elevators causing injuries to people. I overheard two people asking the staff if they are getting credit because of us getting to NJ before time. We have never experienced this behavior from pax. We did book next years cruise on Summit to Bermuda, but if this is going to be the standard behavior of a good number of pax...??? They were an awful lot of nasty, nasty, people. Not Celebrity's fault!

  6. Just off the Summit. Cruise was very nice most of the time. Select dining was a mess. Ideally all guests in suites should dine in the new suite dining room. That doesn't happen. We are elite+ and usually do select dining with a reservation that is booked at the time we book the cruise. Our previous experiences were excellent. We would show up at our reservation time and be seated. WE never waited. Unfortunately, select dining on Summit didn't work well. We always arrived on time. We were always hassled by the hostess. We had to wait with beepers in a very crowded lounge area. When we did finally get called to be seated, the arrangement was usually awful. The excuse was that people in suites bump everyone and the floor space for traditional dining has been reduced (space is used for Luminae). That has put more people in Select Dining without any increase in floor space. If people in suites want to dine in the MDR, they bump guests with reservations. It is a major problem. It got so bad that I went to guest relations. Guest relations promised us a table the next night at our reservation time. Hostess again gave us a beeper. By carving up the dining space to allow room for the new suite dining space, the rest of the MDR is crowded.

I am sorry you experienced a problem. We are back from the Summit this past Sunday as you were and to be very honest we never had or saw any problem as you experienced. As a matter of fact one evening in Luminae I did not like the entree's and was able to pick off the MDR menu. As we got off the elevator there were people waiting outside Luminae (on right) but no one outside the Cosmopolitan MDR on left. The negative experience was when we were outside Luminae on deck (deck 4) two men came storming out of the MDR totally inconvenienced expressing it by vulgarity, that they had to move because the medics responding to an emergency requiring the de-fibulator had to get by. Made us shake our head. Also never ever did we experience a rude or unfriendly crew member, but did experience on many an occasion an awful lot of nasty, rude, pushy, fowl mouthed, fall down drunk, and obnoxious pax.

  7. Hello, quick question on shirts for Blu (or MDR, or Speciality).

I noticed a while back that someone mentioned long sleeves.

Are short sleeved dress shirts a no no?

I understand that dress codes are a divisive subject, so I would appreciate observations rather than opinions if that doesn't sound too cheeky.

    Thanks.

The dress code is so laxed. We are just off Summit from Bermuda. At the captains table on formal night one gentleman had a white formal tux, 2 gentleman had black dress suits, white long sleeve shirts, 1 gentleman had flashy multicolored shirt no tie and sport jacket and one gentleman had a sports coat long sleeved shirt with tie. So IMO Anything conservative is accepted.

  8. My husband and I are booked in a Sky Suite - Silhouette - November 22nd out of Fort Lauderdale. We have a connecting CC cabin with our 2 boys (11 & 13) and then another CC cabin with my sister, her husband and their daughter (13).

Wondering where we all eat dinner together? We currently have select dining and will book a few speciality restaurants. Can the rest of our party join us in Luminae? If so, is there a cost? How can I arrange this?

Thanks for any advice...looking forward to a enjoying my family - together - at dinner!

Just off the Summit from Bermuda, There is a cover charge of $50.00 per person for Luminae. There was one family that had children in reg cabin and they were in a sky suite and told us they were able to get the children in free through their travel agent but did not elaborate. One couple was at the matre'ds desk yelling and throwing around obscenities, they were allowed to bring their children for free. Must say children were very well behaved, they must have been adopted. Your alternative would reserve a table for six in the main dining room and use Luminae as your specialty restaurant then only four would pay the surcharge. Luminae is by far the best of all restaurants IMHO. Enjoy your cruise

  9. We sailed in the Caribbean last spring so luminae was brand new and we had no expectation on that sailing. We will be on Equinox in the fall so we're curious if anyone has seen any local items being served? Thank you!

We are just off Summit to Bermuda. Luminae is most accommodating. Any food allergies, no salt or lactose free they work with you. Mostly a fish dish was local. But I can tell you if the is anything you saw in the main dining room, just ask and it is yours. Mixed drinks are made for you at diner and any kind of desert except gelato has a surcharge. A wonderful eating experience and service is top notch, I mean top notch. As for the patrons that is another story all together. Enjoy!

  10. We first sailed with Celebrity in 1994 on the Zenith. Oh how we wish we had the chance to set foot on the Meridian. After 7 diff lines over the years, :)

In reflection, the Meridian was a nice ship for it's time. But in truth we much preferred the Zenith and Horizon to the Meridian. For some reason when you boarded each of the two you felt warm and safe. It was as if it engulfed us and made us feel very secure. I know it sounds quite emotional. but we really do miss them both. Now our suite has a balcony with whirlpool and table and lounge chairs, back then, a suite on Zenith or Horizon gave you a larger cabin and you had a picture window. I remember always wanting to reserve the one suite with two rooms and that was the only true suite. Thanks for bringing back the memories.;)

  11. Sorry, I don't know the hours for breakfast since we never went until disembarkation day.

But I can say that the couple sitting next to us that morning in Luminae ordered the Eggs Benedict and said they were delicious.

Thanks, guess its coffee and Danish on balcony and breakfast in Luminae. Thanks for the info.:D

  12. We love breakfast on the verandah too. Our butler, Dominic, was wonderful, can't fault him, the problem was with the galley. Food prepared ahead of time then put on a warming tray, so everything was dried out.

We also had Dominic. Last time in #6140, this time #6139 Starboard and port. There are two for the aft end of the Penthouse deck, and they are Dominic and Jose. Both excellent. Thank you for this info. I will ask if we should just order a carafe of coffee from Al Boca (can't remember name) with Danish before ordering and go to Luminae later. What time is Luminae open till for breakfast? I love eggs benedict and am so looking forward to them.

  13. We work in customer service, so when it comes to vacation we love the "Suite Life". We always sail in a suite and enjoy the perks it offers. This is our preference to sailing. HAL is the closest comparison to Celebrity from RCCL, Carnival, Princess, NCL. IMO. Have never been on Cunard so can't compare. HAL: Pro's, Excellent food, service, clean and friendly. Cons: No butler service, suites décor below par, room service not to standards, smoking allowed inside ship (not sure if still the fact) , poor traffic flow. Celebrity: Pro's- Butler service, Michael's Club, Larger Suites and balconies, concierge service is more on a one on one basis. Service seems to be a notch better Cons: The food has lost points, although good, nothing seems to be great. Heading to Luninae in a week, will let you know if it has improved. No indoor or balcony smoking But I have to say the way of eating has changed greatly over the years. So food reviews are extremely subjective. This is all a personal review and am sure quite different from others. One thing I will say; I still feel cruising is a great way to see the world and we will continue to use their services.

  14. I have been cruising since Celebrity purchased the Meridian. I have been on Princess, HAL, RCCL, Disney, NCL and Celebrity. We have seen all the changes and prefer cruising now better than then. Cabins are larger, better choice of meals, nicer interiors, more windows, many more veranda's, a very nice diversity of people, etc. Service IMO has not gotten worse, just more generic because of all the different people you have to work with. IMO I think the cruise lines have gone over and above trying to please all of the people all of the time, instead of some of the people some of the time. And since we know no matter how hard we try, there is always that one person who is not happy and cries the loudest. Each line has their own ups and downs, but to this day I truly prefer Celebrity as far above all the others in every category. IMHO!

  15. We board this Sunday and can't wait. A little surprised to hear that room service breakfast left a lot to be desired, since we were on Summit less than a year ago and the butler always bought everything to us ready to eat. Danish, croissant's, eggs benedict, fruit platter, grapefruit and coffee all excellent. We absolutely love breakfast on the veranda hope this time just as good.:D

  17. We are looking for a two passenger blue flag cab for about 4 hours to tour Bermuda. Any body have e-mails or phone numbers to make arrangements. Leaving on Celebrity Summit May 31, 2015 arriving Bermuda June 3, 2015 Thanks in advance

  18. Hi, will be leaving for Bermuda May 31 on the Summit. Due to walking problems I will require a blue flag taxi to tour Bermuda. I have e-mailed a few, but have heard nothing so far. Does anyone have a contact number or e-mail I can try. We need a cab for the two of us and a walker and would like to tour the island. Thanks in advance.

  19. Hello, I have just gotten off my 56th cruise and booked on others and decided to try Celebrity. I have been on many RC ships and find them our favorite but we like to try something different but have a few questions if you don't mind helping us out it be appreciated.

1- Do you have to get dressed all up for dinner, would I be able to wear a nice blouse and black pants, and my other half a nice shirt and dress pants?

2- How is the food in the buffet breakfast and lunch compared to RC, better, more choices? Do they have a daily meat carving?

3- What is there to eat past 11pm besides ordering room service, anything?

4- Does Celebrity offer a live band/music during the evenings, if so, what type is it a regular band and what type of music do they play? We like good old rock n roll.

5- Why do you like to cruise Celebrity?

6- We are both 52 and would we find other people our age, or will it be an older crowed, honestly I don't mind senior crowd, better than kids running around lol.

7- Do they have open seating times for the MDR or is it just regular seating?

8- Do they offer the drink package?

9- Which ship do you prefer the Silhouette or the Reflexion and why?

    THANK YOU.

Dress is casual sport unless it is formal night. You can go casual in specialty restaurants and buffet, not MDR.

2-Buffrt breakfast I find better than RCCL, but that is subjective but I don't think you will be disappointed.

3-Have no idea, past out by then

4- Check your dailies for dance and where on ship. You do get a lot of 60's rock and roll but you also get jazz, classical, waltzes, etc.

5- cabins are larger, crew more friendly, never a food problem, clean, library, I-lounge, live music, smaller crowd and of coarse itinerary.

    6-20's 30's 40's 50's 60's 70's 80's and 90's average I would say most people are in their 50's

7-Open seating called select dining, yes!

8- drink packages are offered, check on their web site for the different type

9-Was never on the larger or (S) class always on M class or smaller

Hope this helps, enjoy your cruise.
