  1. We saw lots of beautiful birdlife up close. I was very excited to see an Australian kestrel hovering directly above me as I walked up the steps from one of the beaches… Somehow I managed to turn the Australian Kestrel into a Chinese spy balloon when I took the photo 🤦‍♀️ 🤣🤣
  2. Beautiful sunny Saturday in Sydney. 30C (85f) Perfect day to walk from Avalon Beach to Narrabeen Beach - up and over various headlands and along 7 beaches.
  3. @Sunshine3601 sorry about the skin cancer on your scalp. Hope you are healing. @jagsfan Congratulations to your granddaughters on their engagements. Their fiancée’s chose great locations for the proposals. Have an enjoyable cruise on the Wonder. @sea2shiningsea your day out on the boat looked great. Lovely photos. @bobmacliberty nice photos of the Golden Gate bridge. Liked all the different angles. DD would not agree that you can’t take a bad photo - the day they were there it was completely shrouded in fog…
  4. Those of you dealing with icy & blizzard conditions, stay warm & safe. DS’s ski resort had 80cm of snow in the past week and he tells me rumours are the ski season will be extended which doesn’t surprise since they have had plenty of snow so far this season.
  5. @dani negreanu not only is your DH a wonderful cook, he is a talented photographer. Stunning photos. @h20skibum I hope your daughter’s op went smoothly.
  6. We also missed the paper ones especially on boarding day and for keeping as a souvenir. Midway through our most recent cruise, daughter realised the app will send you a reminder if there is an upcoming event you were interested in attending. There were other reasons we liked the app too. It’s good we can now have both paper Fun times & the app on Carnival
  7. Wish I was retired. Would have spent the past 2 months cruising. So many bargains…
  8. John Herald from Carnival Australia has announced that due to passenger demand, the paper versions of “Fun Times” the daily schedules will resume being delivered to cruise cabins the night before each cruise day. So cruisers have the option of the App and the paper version. From 26th February
  9. @dani negreanu all the food you ate on your holiday sounds delicious. Hope you get to rest your weary feet now that you are home.
  10. Snap. Tacos for us too. Out to dinner for Taco Tuesday specials. I don’t normally have alcohol on a work night but it was 98F today so tried a pear cider with my three tacos. It was rather nice. Your meals look delish
  11. Been an interesting day on the Northern Beaches in Sydney today. A very unexpected fly over after midday by a formation of Korean fighter jets. The Media reported later they are an aerobatic team doing a training exercise. They are due to perform at an Airshow in Victoria. Then tonight, there was a large water spout off one of the beaches - Curl Curl.
  12. Still on the theme of music, a photo taken of my daughter and her friends a few years back at a country music festival in the US was used again this week on social media and so this week I learnt that Canadians use the term “Canadian Tuxedo” for what we here call double denim.
  13. Because many of you are grandparents, I am going to mention The Wiggles. Not sure if they are still popular with little ones in the US but we saw the original foursome multiple times in concert. The Blue Wiggle Anthony is the only one still in the lineup. My SIL’s claim to fame is she saw two of The Wiggles perform in their band before they became part of The Wiggles. Because someone mentioned them - Midnight Oil - big yes. My brother and DH went to many of their concerts.
  14. @Momof3gurlz Congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary. Lovely photos and thanks for sharing your how you met story. Just beautiful
  15. Hot Saturday in Sydney today. Almost 100F until a wild storm came through tonight as we were leaving for the cinema. Will need to clean up the garden tomorrow. Some colour today courtesy of the Fleurs De Ville at the Royal Botanical Gardens and the new wing of the Art Gallery of NSW.
  16. Been a long time since I watched a 3D movie at the theatre. Tonight watched Avatar - the way of the water at the cinema. It just happened that the time slot that suited us was 3D. Anyone else seen this sequel? We enjoyed it. The underwater visuals were stunning and the action was good. If you liked the first movie, you would like this one.
  17. @dani negreanu loved your Carnivale costume photos from Venice. Sorry the trip has been extremely stressful (airline) and disappointing (weather). Hopefully Morocco is better experience for you. @lenquixote66 hope your dear friend pulls through.
  18. I’ve spent the past two months following the daily updates of an 61 yo engineer & kayaker from Sydney who was attempting to sea kayak solo and unassisted from Tasmania to New Zealand. This morning he safely arrived at Riverton at the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand after paddling 1600km. Amazing physical & mental achievement. I am also in awe of him jumping into the deep ocean to clean the bottom of the kayak before entering New Zealand waters (as required by the authorities) as he had seen sharks in the water only a day or two previously. This hull cleaning was also recently required of cruise vessels going to NZ. For the engineers, you might be interested in the design of the sea kayak that he built himself for this endeavour.
