Following! Got our 3rd Reflection cruise coming up in Feb. so will be interested to hear how the ship looks so hope you have time (and bandwidth) to post photos.

Hi librarylady19- so funny seeing you on this thread for the Reflection. It was your posts that I read back in 2012 before booking our 1st Celebrity Cruises & on the Reflection! I took your suggestion about the boxes to bring for over the bed. We love them & have been using them ever since !!!

We are on Beyond now. First night, October 26, we went to the Normandie restaurant at 7:15. There was a line, we were given a pager and were called for dinner in about 30 minutes.

2nd night we went to Cyprus restaurant at 7:45 and were seated immediately.

I don’t like this system. I prefer traditional dining, fixed time, same table and same wait staff.

This change in dining room policy may have been implemented recently as my travel agent was not aware of it.

I am with you Jimbo59. We sail the end of November and are very disappointed to hear of the change AND without notification. I phoned the Captains Club this morning and they were totally taken back by this. For whatever it’s worth, they are reaching out to the ship.

Hope you are seated quickly for the rest of the cruise. Enjoy!!

For people following this review just be aware Beyond no longer offers fixed early or late seating in any of the 4main restaurants. It doesn't matter what you chose as your dining preference precruise. The ship is 100% Select anytime dining.

It was explained that 40% of each dining room is allocated to precruise reservations, the remaining 60% for walk-ins.

This would explain way there have been posts on CC of people choosing fixed early or late set seating but able to make whole cruise reservations in whatever dining room they wanted.

Thank you very much for the heads up. This is VERY UPSETTING! We sail end of November and we booked  this cruise over a year ago and selected late sitting. We enjoy the same wait staff and did not want to deal with hassle of waiting in line with what will probably be a heavy sailing. In any case there are no slots open to pre reserve & says to see guest relations. What a mess that will me! This almost makes us want to switch to the S class ships. Thank you again for sharing this info. Enjoy your cruise and Happy Birthday, many more, to your Dad!

  4. Bon  Voyage Kelly, your boyfriend and parents!!

Will be following along as DH and I sail on the Beyond end of November- our 1st “E” class & 1st ever (36 cruises) sunset veranda. We would have loved to do this sailing from our good old NY but by the time we looked, it was to late and to expensive. Sailing past the Statue of Liberty & under the Verrazano is always a thrill! Hopefully will see you on the webcam!!

Thank you for taking us along and for such a great overview so far! We love to dance and look forward to hearing about the music onboard. We are on the 830 sitting and hope to get assigned a great table for 2 with the same wait staff each evening.

    Enjoy every moment!!

All four dining rooms have plenty of tables for two. They will also seat two at a table for four if necessary. The plus is that the tables for two are much farther apart than on M class so you don’t feel like you are eating with someone else!

Thank you- this is encouraging! We will see the Maitre d when we board.

  6. My fellow cruisers- DH and I will be sailing on Beyond end of November. Although we are seasoned cruisers ( S class primarily) this is our first E class. We have opted for  late sitting over select so we can have the same wait staff each evening. We also enjoy a table for 2 and not having a table so very close as many of them are.  Can anyone comment on which of the 4 dining rooms to request and perhaps which table/ area in the room might have the most space for the 2 top? Also, any suggestions on best way to get this request to the ship in advance. We know Celebrity always tries to please!

    Many thanks in advance.

  7. Thank you so much Benny for taking us along and sharing your comments and amazing photos! So happy you made it to Coco Cay! DH and I are reminiscing and looking forward to another sailing on the beautiful SOS.

if you see Musik Express in Dazzles or around, would you be so kind to ask them how long there contract is for. If ending soon, when will they be back ? They were on our sailing in Nov 2019 and we enjoyed them so much. We are older, but love Dazzles & love to dance!

Enjoy every moment & with calm seas!

We leave on our Infinity cruise Saturday, August 27, and our luggage tags and edocs are still unprintable.  They tell me it's because we booked flights through X.  Has anyone else experienced this?  When were you able to print everything?  I'm one of those people who likes to have everything in order, well before this time of our cruise.

Yes, give Celebrity or even the captains Club a call. Just happened to us . We booked our cruise this past Wednesday for tomorrow’s sailing and no bag tags. They sent an “rush” request to have the edocs and baggage tags sent through. Neither was I looking forward to dealing with this at the port. We always book very far out. Never ever this close to sailing!! No storms brewing in the Eastern Carib, so we decided to go for it! Enjoy your cruise!

  9. Many thanks to all who replied regarding dining for Aurea class as well as the drink package upgrade. I did phone this morning and the upgrade would cost $966 for 2. Yes, it’s wine that we drink and while not connoisseurs, generally the standard package wines are not very good. At the moment we are not prepared to take the plunge.

    Bon Voyage!

Unfortunately, that agent was correct. Unlike Royal/Celebrity where you can just pay the difference, MSC would charge the full amount plus service charge. And to make matters worse, there are an abundance of drinks priced just above the drink package limits.

Thank you for clarifying! Unfortunately this is a huge negative for us.

  12. We are contemplating the Seashore Aurea Class in 2 weeks. We are seasoned cruisers, primarily on Celebrity. This would be our first on MSC. They do have the promo with the Drink Package & WiFi. Can anyone clarify if your wine exceeds the $9.00 limit, if you can simply pay the difference. I spoke with an agent earlier and she said no.

one other question re the dining… does Aurea have its own dining room? The agent said you do get a different selection at the buffet? This agent sounded like a newbie

    Many thanks in advance.

And past Radio City Musical Hall.  Ahhh so many memories.  My father use to take us there on Thanksgiving weekend to see the Christmas Show.

Final stop was the food hall at Grand Central.  Passing the beautiful public library.  A must see if haven’t visited.

Jim thank you so much for the fabulous photos of NYC ! DH and I are native New Yorkers & commuted to Grand Central for over 20 years! Your photos touched our hearts!

Wishing you and Iain an amazing cruise ! Stay safe and enjoy!

  14. Hello Fellow Cruisers,

We we’re on the 6 night Equinox July 10 & it was another great Celebrity cruise! In particular the bands and musicians were top notch!! Can anyone onboard tell me who the current bands are? D Coolers & BR4 I believe are finished with their current contract. We are contemplating the Equinox for September 8 & wonder who might be onboard. Music & dancing is a big part of our cruise experience.

If by any chance Marty Thomas is back on board - see him - he was great! Actually all of the shows very good!

Also, don’t miss Captain Matt’s talk on the last day of the cruise!!

Many thanks in advance & enjoy the cruise!!

  15. DH and I are considering the Rotterdam for next April. We primarily sail with Celebrity and enjoy the various music pre and post dinner. We sailed on HAL - EURODAM, NA, and NS back in 2018 & 2019. BB king was always great, but that was basically it for us. We enjoy dancing on our cruises, so are hoping for some recent observations before we decide.

    Thank you in advance!

  16. We did Walgreens this morning. When I created the appointments, they asked for ALL of our Medicare information. Also on the health questionnaire we both had runny nose and headaches. They said there was no cost and gave us receipts as such. The young lady said they submit to Medicare but no charge to us. We had NEGATIVE results emailed  within the 2 hr time frame. I guess it depends on the Walgreens location . Perhaps after a few days, they have gotten their act together. Can't wait to board our cruise on Sunday!! Good Luck everyone - hopefully this testing will soon go away!
