  1. What is the policy on cancelling a paid for optional excursion book online with Viking Ocean?

    1.  Is it credited back to your credit card?

    2.  Is it marked as credit on your onboard account if you cancel in the 7 days before the start of the voyage?

    3.  If you cancel once on board the ship, what is the policy?

    Thanks for the help.

  2. We found a Viking Ocean cruise we wanted to take and it was sold out. However check back when final payments are due and cabins open up since some people decide not to go. For some the date is a year out for final payment and some have six month out due dates.

  3. First, my husband and I previewed all the excursions. We decided which ones we want to do before the actual day we could book excursions.

Then, when it came time to book, we booked first the optional ones that we would be disappointed not to get to do and paid for them. Yes, we book as early as we can on the first day that booking is open for our level of cabin. I believe we were a DV4 last time.

Next, we go back in and book the included excursions we want since we like to take our excursions first thing in the morning. Time slots fill up and you may have to chose a time you would not normally want.

We were able to get everything we wanted.

We thoroughly enjoyed our ocean cruise after doing numerous river cruises with Viking.

  4. On our flight last December to Miami for a Viking's Caribbean Turquoise Seas cruise, we asked to be booked on a flight the day before the start of the cruise since weather can be a problem in December. Yes the air was free, but we had to pay the deviation fee because of flying in a day early. It was worth the peace of mind. We were not allowed access to our cabin until 2:00 pm. We did board around noon and were encouraged to have lunch. However around 1:30 we allowed to check to see if our cabin was ready and it was.

We have flown to Europe with Viking several times and have usually flown in a few days early to travel independently and paid the deviation fee since Viking's air is usually cheaper than what we can get.

We have found both Viking Ocean and River Cruises to be wonderful experiences.

    Have a good trip.

  5. For those on board right now on Queen Mary II or recently docking in Southampton on a BTB, did they offer a Titanic Trail Excursion? When I check for our voyage that is later in 2018, it is not listed. However, in the description of possible excursions for Southampton, they list a Titanic Trail excursion. Thanks for the help.

  6. If you are doing a BTB from New York to Southampton, will there be a shuttle in Southampton to take you into Southampton? I am seeing postings that say different things about shuttle service being provided. What is the latest?

    Thank you.

  7. I see that Cunard does not offer an excursion to see Southampton.

Therefore, can you walk to the Sea City Museum from Queen Mary 2?

Has anyone done a private walking tour of the Titanic Trail or Southampton? If so, who did you use?

    Thank you for your help.

  8. We stayed at Edinburgh Marriott Courtyard but went by bus to see the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith ( which has a cruise terminal) and then back to Edinburgh and changed buses to Roslin. Might check where your ship will be docking. Having purchased all day bus passes for the Lothian buses, we used it to get to the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith and then to the Rosslyn Chapel in Roslin. After we left the royal yacht we took Bus 300 right outside the shopping center to South Bridge Street in Edinburgh to get Bus 37 to Roslin. It worked out well. The bus ride to Roslin is about 1 hour. After getting off the bus in Roslin, it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Rosslyn Chapel visitor center. Tours (lecture) of the chapel are on the hour and lasted about 15 minutes. The visitor center has displays that provide information about the chapel.

Be sure to get a Welcome to Rosslyn Chapel brochure to help you locate all the carvings in the chapel. We enjoyed trying to locate 22 carvings covered in the brochure of this chapel which had its beginnings in 1446 by William St. Clair. We walked back to the bus stop in Roslin and took Bus 37 back to Edinburgh.

Our visit to Rosslyn Chapel was one of our highlights of our Scotland trip.
