  1. Thank you for all the responses.

We are on a new cruise for Viking Ocean, the Turquoise Caribbean.

Some of you have mentioned possible optional excursions are mentioned on the regular Viking Ocean pages. Are they just briefly described under the section on the given cruise?

First departure for the cruise is not until December 2017.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. We are in a Deluxe Veranda stateroom. Will we be able to view the excursions for each port before the time opens that our category of staterooms are allowed to book? I would like to do some research before booking an excursion.

    Thanks for the help.

  3. When you board the ship, there will be a card in your room with your dining time and your table.

We always go to the dining room that first afternoon to see if we can locate our table before we go for dinner.

You can take the card to the dining room and someone might be there to help you even though the dining room is not serving until supper.

Explain your situation and see what they say.

They will usually try to help with your request that evening or in the next few days.

  4. Did Danube Waltz Christmas Market cruise this past December 2016. When we arrived at Munich airport, we used Viking transfers to Passau since Viking had done our air for us. We were taken to the ship which was docked outside the city. Later the ship was moved to the center of town. On the arrival day, Viking had lunch for us on the terrace and did a 1pm walking tour of the Passau. They took us by bus to begin the tour since the ship was docked outside the city. We had time to visit the Christmas market. The ship was later moved to the center of Passau. The next day they had tickets for us to attend the organ concert at St. Stephens plus a tour of the city and a gingerbread demonstration.

We, too, have had Viking do our air on others trips and came in early by a few days. We also asked if we got to the airport on the given day they do picks up at the airport could we use the transfer to the ships. We were told no.

I still believe this might be a possibility to pursue.

  5. There is an Immigration Museum at Pier 21 which should be walkable - Canada's Ellis Island. There is a nice boardwalk where the ship is docked and lots of shops and places to eat.

We used the Halifax Titanic Historical tours for a four hour tour of Titanic sites and historical areas of Halifax. Price is based on number in your group but he will add others requesting the tour on the same day to lower your cost. We enjoyed the tour. Check out the reviews on Tripadvisor.com.

  6. I will share with husband the info on where to get the best coffee. Nice to see that some of the things we enjoyed with the river ships is also included with the ocean ships.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

  7. We did the concert in the Passau's St. Stephen's cathedral in December of 2016. The church is lovely. There are five organs in this church which are played from one area. We were told to sit in the middle of the church underneath vents in the ceiling so we could hear the different organs played. It was very cold in the church. Everyone left there coats on. My husband took off his hat and was very cold. This was an opportunity we would not have in the United States so we glad we went.

  8. We did the Christmas Markets version of this cruise last December. We enjoyed it. We elected to start in Passau since we thought if we ended in Passau we might have to leave very early on the last day to get to Munich airport for our flight home. However if we had started in Budapest we could have come in early a few days to spend extra time in Budapest. There is so much to see and do in Budapest that we did not get to do. With our cruise ending so close to Christmas, we could not add days at the end.
