Does NCL still sail the Gem out of New York?
yes until 10/16/16 then to san juan
-
Oh trust me, the UBP is no where near free.....the price is just hidden in your increased cruise price. Haven't been on the Gem but I can tell you the Epic sucks and the operations on the Sun are far lacking for the same size Carnival ship (Fantasy class).
How is 120 per day for NCL with UBP vs 156 a day on glory WITHOUT Cheers a higher cruise price?:D

[ QUOTE=wanderingjew;47245336]The quality on my last 4 cruises was SUBPAR on CCL My recent NCL cruises were 8.5 out of 10 while i rate CCL 6
The Prime Rib was tough and tasteless, much better on NCL
Obviously you can sail whomever you like. The MDR on NCL ships routinely gets panned in comparisons. If you think so poorly of Carnival, why do you continue to sail them and take their invitations to events like you did for the Vista?
the reason i went to the Vista event was because JH said he wanted to meet me

He doesn't want to pay inflated NCL & RCCL prices. :D
i have NONE booked on CCL and my next cruise I'm paying 1220 for a 10 day Gem thanksgiving cruise inside solo with a free UBP & 100 OBC
For a similar cabin on a 7 day it is 1095 on the Glory and i dont need flights
or hotel on Gem
and fortunately i can afford to pay more for a cruise I can ENJOY

There must be something wrong with the programming here. Rccl sails but way way over priced and NCL and quality said together is an oxymoron

Yum. Shakers will be our favorite place when we sail. :D
Is it on the Gem?
-
Do they make them and is it part of UBP?
-
In light of the overwhelming changes in such a short span is it enough to get you to cancel your current bookings?
Personally for my family and I the answer is YES, 2 Suites Cancelled and I'm not looking back at this train wreck until they realize constantly changing the product makes people feel uneasy and abused.
No even with the increased Tips its still better than Cutback Cruise Line and CHEAPER

I find the NCL cruises...don't see NY listed as a port for RCCL. Am I missing something?
Bayonne

You're the 1 off topic LOL:D :DIt doesn't except it is off topic and caused confusion. Sometimes less is more. -
A question since I have never sailed out of the northeast for a cruise and I'm assuming that the ship would only sail South since weather north of NYC can be pretty darn iffy during the winter months? How long from NYC to warmer seas...a day, two days? Winter travel into NewYork can be pretty inconsistent due to weather for flights, driving, and rail...how reliable would "winter" travel be? Do the piers ever close because of the weather...and do all the cruising channels remain open even if the temperature drops way below freezing? I've been on Long Island when the temp has dropped into the teens and ship traffic has seemed to slow down to a crawl.
They stop cruising to Alaska during the winter and the ports they do leave from are much more temperate than NYC. Does Vancouver have winter departures?
QUALITY cruise lines like NCL & RCCL sail out of NYC year round :D :D

Years ago when I set up my ccl.com account, I put in my previous works direct line. And still follow that practice with other sites if required. No one calls me.
better still give them dial a prayer :D :D

There are some who post here who are currently putting that to the test. We will see. MSC is a very interesting company. We sailed them a few years back and while they had their pluses, they had a long way to go. They are putting gobs of money into new ships, I can say that. We will see where the loyalty match ends up.
I Resemble dat remark:D:D
-
One can only hope. Combining them accross brands would be awesome
This would be BRILLIANT :D

While he did not meet my expectations (based upon where he came from before Carnival) I am not sure I would view his leaving as a strong potential for the loyalty program getting better......
This is CCL dont count on it LOL

I know the new beverage policy is in place, but I thought we were allowed to stock up on cans in port and John Heald confirmed this. Am I crazy? We are on the breeze and they confiscated and threw away our 12 pack of 12 ounce cans we tried to bring back on in St. Martin.
Anyone have the JH link to him confirming this?
To quote Gino Marella sometimes John Heald is a fountain of MISinformation :D:D

It is simply a marketing tool and JMO not worth much.
I remember they tested the experiences 1st in the German market and they had the roll out.
UK solo cruisers for a few years had great solo rates unmatched anywhere in Europe.
Do we honestly believe that those who enjoy daily free drinks on Royal and Elite are going to rush to MSC?? Cynic that I am, no.
Annie
But this Diamond on Cutback Cruise Lines is doing it despite how BRILLIANT Diamond is on CCL

I would do it if was a GOOD Cruise Line like NCL & RCCL :D:D

Our cruise is in October, and we are cruising from port Everglades, so hopefully flights will go down, but here are our options:
Option #1
Fly in day of. Non-stop to Miami arrive @ 838 am and fly out at 1pm connect in Charlotte and get home at 530 for $ 906 for 2 people.
Option # 2
Fly in day of to ft lauderdale arrive @ 930 am , but we have a connecting flight in Charlotte. And get home the same as above, but the price is $ 1600.
For me it's a no brainier, but hubby ....
Opinions please, maybe you can change his mind.
i would fly in day b4 you could have mechanical problems
Carnival no longer out of NY?

So how did that go? Kind of like a Yalta conference (Stalin, FDR and Churchill)? I suspect there was no dancing in the streets discussion.....;)
Actually it went BRILLIANTLY LOL:D:D
