  1. Ok I called C&A and I explained that when I log in with my C&A credentials, I get a discount versus no discount when I just go on the site without logging in. He said hold on and came back five minutes later and said "your right" and took another $150 bucks off the balcony cabin for the boys. He said he checked the Jr. Suite too, but no further reduction which I already knew.

Not really sure why the discount and really dont care.

Just make sure that when ckecking for rate reductions, you do it both ways.. logging in on your MyCruises acct and not..

  2. Yes, they are both Gold as well.

One other thing, I forgot to mention when I did a 'fake" booking by logging in under my name, I did get a discount. When I did the "fake" booking again without logging in, no discount.

Starting to think maybe no discounts on multiple rooms..

  3. I have 2 cabins on Indy booked. A Junior Suite for the wife and a connecting D1 Superior OceanView balcony for the boys - Ages 18 and 15. Since they are connected, they allowed me to put the room in their names but of course I am paying. I noticed that I received some kind of "CAS rates" discount on the Junior suite but no such discount on the second D1 room. I am only Gold by the way if that matters.

Only 1 discount no matter how many rooms or because this is a Junior Suite??If I put the boys in a Junior suite would I get the discount on the second one as well??

Thanks to everyone on this board. My last cruise was so much better because of everyone that shares their experiences and information...

  4. Forgot to mention that if you do buy the cooler with beers in Labadee -- What you buy in Labadee gets consumed in Labadee. Unfortunately, no taking back ones that you didn't finish. However, the aluminum bottles were all capped and unopened when you bought the bag with beers. I did get one more beer from the bar closest to the exit before heading back to the ship and was going to drink it as I was walking back. The guard made me finish it before I even walked into the security area.

  5. Just got off Indy New Years Cruise. Only place I saw the soft side cooler you mentioned was in Labadee. As soon as you went in the main gate, they had a table set up where they were selling them. They were selling them for 25 bucks with 5 beers or 20 bucks with 5 small bottles of water. I really wanted one, but I had the premium drink package and they would not sell me just the bag or offer any kind of discount. Didn't see them any other time on/off the ship all week.

  6. OP - I hope you're still hanging around, to the best of my knowledge your question was never correctly answered.

I bought the Premium drink package ahead of time, just got back from that sailing last Saturday and we DID have stickers. To be clear, they did not have our SeaPass cards preprinted as they do with the soda packages. You will have a sticker whether you buy on-line or not.

So the big advantage to buying on-line is being able to drink the minute you embark!

ULCajunCruiser-- thanks so much for the response I was seeking.. On a side note.. Did they have any football on TV's anywhere on the ship. Trying to see if they will have the Sunday Night Football game on????

  7. So we all (wife, son 17, son 14) all have passports and will be flying and cruising with them. I guess to be on the safe side, we should all bring our photo drivers license as well. I don't really want to bring my 14year olds Birth Certificate but since does not have a DL, I guess I should. He does have a school ID with his photo on it. Its just that I'm not one of those worst case scenario folks. Because I guess if you had your original ID lost or stolen, you could always have your back up lost or stolen and then you would have to take 3 ID's with you...

Hey as I'm typing... How bout a photocopy of all of our passports as a backup that I would keep separate from the originals. Would that suffice as back-up??

  8. Hi CruiseAddict1982. I will give you a couple of easy ones to remember. There are widely available blackjack strategy charts out there that advise you when to stand, hit, split depending on what the dealer is showing.

Always split 8's and Ace's no matter what dealer is showing.

Never split 5's, 6's or 10's no matter what dealer is showing.

    Good luck...

  9. Is there any advantage of buying the alcohol drink package online versus when I get on ship. Paying for it now on a credit card versus the charge showing up at the end of the cruise is not really a factor. If I pay for it online, will my cruise card not have a sticker on it. That's really my question, as I don't really want to have to wait in a guest service line if the sticker falls off and I need a new one. I think I remember reading here that if you buy the soda package in advance, it is already embossed or something like that on your card with no stickers to deal with.

  10. We are staying at the Courtyard Cruiseport in Dania Beach. They have a free airport shuttle as well as a free shuttle that will take you to the port. I utilized Marriott points but the rates when I booked back in September for late December were around 150 a nite. Rates are now 299 a nite a weekend and 249 a nite during the week for all dates in February. When you look at dates in late April and May the rates are less than 150 a nite. They discount their rates a lot when you book well in advance. I'm sorry this doesn't help you for your February cruise, but try and book something soon. Most places you can always cancel with no penalty up until a day or 2 before.

  11. Do you think a 5 year old and an 8 year old are too young to climb Dunns River?

IMO , I think the 8 year old would be OK but 5 is a little young for the Dunns River experience. There are many areas to get out along the route though if you wanted to give it a go. Water will be deep in some sections for a 5 year old. Do an Internet search on Dunns River. They have a website which will give you some pics and more info to help you make an informed decision. Have a great time....

  12. I play blackjack a lot on ships (many hours/60 cruises). I don't let what others do bother me -- it all evens out in the end. What matters is how you play your own cards -- not anyone else. Please elaborate on the 6 to 5 payout rather than 3 to 2. I have never seen that on a ship. Of course, I never take even money or insurance, don't make side bets or sit at the tables that require the 25 cent side"tax" . Happy gambling!

The issue with Blackjack that players success is relative to percentage based plays, so what a player does that is next to me definitely can effect my hand. For instance if the dealer is showing a 6 and the player before me has a 14 and I have 11. That player should not hit but they do and they get a 10 and bust. I hit(double) the 11 and now get a 6 when I should have gotten the 10 according to the correct percentage play which was not made by player before me. Casinos love this set up of 7 players at a table as usually there are several that dont know or don't care to make the correct percentage play the majority of the time.

  13. My sisters brother in law is a dock worker for the cruise ships in Bayonne NJ. He has told me that a significant amount of case bottled water gets "confiscated" and not by the cruise lines or govt. if you know what I mean. He said that most dock workers could supply small countries with bottled water for years. This would be referring to case water not concealed in a suitcase or a box. Case water with a tag just slapped on it. They get away with it because "the tag falls off"

  14. My favorite is Mount Gay from Barbados.

    Love, love this Rum.

Used to have a guy that worked for me, that was from Barbados.. Was happy every time he asked me for time off as I knew there was a bottle of Mt Gay coming my way upon his return. Only type he ever drank and brought back with him... Just opened the last bottle on Sunday. Drank some and made some out of this world bananas foster with it.. Yum

  15. I just read a review from a guy who did the Dunns River Express Excursion thru Royal Caribbean. He seemed happy with it as he didn't want to do a 7 hour excursion - Here is a link to his review - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=40493260&highlight=falmouth#post40493260 - Then post number #57

They didn't eat lunch at Scotchies though I don't think?

    Hope this helps!

    Cindy

    Tremendously -- Thank you Cindy:)

i did call and the rep removed her C&A number from her name, and said she'd have to wait 24-hours for it to "set" - she gave me her info and extension to call back tomorrow for an update. she also took my info, so i guess we'll see?

No name changes at all. Everything is correct with our names as well as c&a #'s. When I called, they advised that since my original reservation was done on-line and then I called to add a second cabin (different resisie which I have no prob accessing) that messed everything up so that they can't fix it now.. Really???

So I have some time to kill on Friday and I call again. (Figure the old adage, If you don't succeed the first time, try, try try again)

This time C&A rep tells me that my oldest son's c&a # somehow get attached to wifes name which is under the second reservation. The oldest son (under 18) was under my reservation #. Anyway, because she now had his number and was listed in a different cabin and he had the same number, it messed everything up. I asked why the 2nd, 3rd and 4th person that I talked to over the last month couldn't see that (obviously I could of figured it out if I could have seen the reservation). She could not provide a response. Anyway... Finally, Finally, I can see both reservations again. but I'm sure I will have to deal with this again because her documents have a C&A number that no longer exists and now has my sons old number and he has a new number but his docs have her number on them. Get all that.. Royal Caribbean needs some help....
