  1. Tell your friend to go to the infirmary and see if you can get any anti-anxiety meds for her husband.

There are some people that absolutely can't fly, so it will be interesting to find out the solution they come up with for those people. I know that when the Carnival ship got stuck in St. Maarten, Carnival ended up putting the people that couldn't fly on another cruise ship (from NCL I believe). Are there any other ships (on any line) currently doing the West Coast-Hawaii itineraries?

Looks like the next ones are HAL's Amsterdam on the 10th and Star Princess on the 11th.

  2. The one and only reason corporations commit crimes like this is greed. They are more concerned about making money than the environment. The installation of pipes and deliberately faking logs to deceive regulators comes from the CEO level to improve the bottom line. My wife and I fell in love with cruising 15 years ago and have cruised only on Princess. We were so disgusted by this guilty plea we are selling our CCL stock and will never book a cruise with Princess again.

The official statement from the DOJ doesn't really support the idea that the corruption came "from the top":

Following the MCA’s inquiry, the chief engineer held a sham meeting in the engine control room to pretend to look into the allegations while holding up a sign stating: “LA is listening.” The engineers present understood that anything said might be heard by those at the company’s headquarters in Los Angeles, California, because the engine control room contained a recording device intended to monitor conversations in the event of an incident.

  3. I just sent off a question to Princess concerning the question the refundability of ship board credit from canceled excursions. If it is not then my days of prebooking Princess excursions are pretty much over.

Princess could make the ability to schedule an excursion without prepayment a Platinum or Elite benefit. Since new people won't know better and I would suspect that most of the people that will be really upset by the change have such status.

Anything you've paid for outright that gets changed into a credit is always 100% refundable, I can't imagine they'd change that. It's your money.

  4. We board the Pacific Princess on Nov. 21st, or hope to. I’m still trying to find out more detail on the severity of the damage, which is hard to come by.

It'd likely to be a couple of days before Princess has an estimate as to how long the repairs are going to take and how many cruises will be affected. Hopefully we'll hear something from them next week.

  5. Request to have your two bookings "linked". That means that anything that happens to one booking also happens to the other linked booking. That includes sale perks, pricing changes (reductions, hopefully), etc. We have done that through our TA, so presumably it can be done directly through Princess.

    ...VTX-Al :)

That's not true. Linking bookings doesn't affect much more than dining assignments.

  6. First part of this is not true. If the ship has enough seats for all of the passengers, everyone can eat whenever they wish and not wait. We travel on Windstsr which has an open dining policy. Usually there is no wait for a table, sometimes a few couples just waiting to be seated. Several other lines have this as well, including most if not all of the upscale lines.

It's true on Princess ships, which is what we're talking about, isn't it? I didn't say it wasn't possible to achieve, I said it doesn't currently exist.

  7. There isn't anywhere that can seat every person at the same time. You have to realize that if enough people show up to eat by 6:00, they're not going to be able to seat anyone else until the first people who showed up are done at around 7:30. That's not Princess' fault, that's math. Just like at a land-based restaurant.

  8. Yes, I know the rule well. That's why I can't figure out why someone would have to disembark for 24 hours in Quebec. Someone got some bad advice if that ship left and returned to the same port.

I believe the ship departed from one NYC port and returned to a different one. This triggers the PVSA because Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Bayonne are all different cities, so it's considered open jaw, not closed loop.

  9. The AIBP includes cans of sodas' date=' specialty coffees and teas as well as fresh brewed "normal" varieties, juices, mocktails, bottled water, etc. in addition to all alcoholic beverages valued at up to $10. There are a few mixed drinks that exceed $10, but very few. Wine by the glass is included up to the $10 limit. There are no daily limits. There are no exclusions other than the $10 rule.[/quote']

There is one exclusion, it can't be used for room service. You have to go get the drink yourself.

  10. I did exactly the same thing ...saved myself all the lugging around of another heavy item. The key is ... you don't have to pre-purchase it.

The bottled water package is only available for pre-purchase. You can only buy individual bottles once onboard.
