I've done 2 surprise cruises, one for my friend (which was one of the best decisions I ever made, because a cruise was on her bucket list, and she died 2 years later) The 2nd one was for the same friends daughter and her husband, he was in on the surprise but she didn't have a clue. We told her on her birthday, and the week before she got a clue everyday.
Was hoping to do the same this year, and surprise her husband this time, but she already had a surprise for me, she's pregnant and so can't go on a cruise this year.
It was soooo much fun to plan these, you will love it.
Would love to hear all of the plans as you do this. Please update us.

When are you going?
-
Do a mock booking on the cruise lines web site.
-
A glass of champagne to start the cruise at the pool bar or sunset bar......bliss
-
How about searching You Tube for ' hypnosis and fear of flying'? there's lots of recordings. Find one you like and listen to it every day.

There is no big screen on the Epic
What's H20 then?
looks pretty big to me!

Depends on bar and ship, in my experience, yes

You should probably read the responses.;)
Well.. I just said I hadn't...so why
mention it?

I have been wondering if class cruising is coming back? That is are we as a society going back to first class, second class, and steerage. With the increase in perks for suites, haven, restricted areas becoming the norm are we that far away from separate dinning, pool area etc.
Not sure of my feelings on this, just wondering what others are thinking
It never went away!

Quote from Hunter...."I can not have sugar, oil or salt in the food."
How do you survive? ---Your body needs oils and salt
And from her profile directly...
Interests: Traveling!! Eating out, wine tasting and movies

No, room service drinks will be charged.
Ask room steward to empty fridge.
Every-time you go back to your room take a drink with you... you'll easily get a stash!
-
Please don't think I'm being antagonistic here, I am merely interested.
How can you not eat any oil in your diet?
Meaning.... can the body survive without any oil? how would you absorb/obtain fat soluble vitamins?
Salt... I find all meals on cruises to be saltier than I cook at home, I think this one maybe be the trickiest.
FYI, I was a chef for many years, and all veg has added salt in any commercial establishment. Unless notified otherwise.
If I had dietary requirements this serious, I would not trust a mainstream cruise company to do this. Your health is more important.
But this sounds like a weight loss plan.

Does anyone know what percentage of the main courses are prepared by restaurant supply houses and then shipped to be Microwaved.
If so, which Main Course meals are prepared on-ship?
I know soups, breads, and other smaller items are made on ship; so I don't need to know that.
I started reading this thread earlier today, and haven't read all posts since this morning, so apologies if this has already been mentioned.....
Think about this..... if the meals are prepared on land (FYI ... I was a chef for years and I don't think this is/would be the case ever).......and they bring pre-cooked meals onboard to re heat, and they are going to reheat them in microwaves?
With thousands of passengers?
How many microwaves would that take? = It's not feasible.

I drove to a port a few years ago, it makes a big difference, not dealing with flights and especially the luggage weight limit.
Next June seems a long way off right now, but it will be here before you know it.
Happy Cruising

I have been on a cruise right after a staff turn over. I wouldn't call it bad (although some of the service was far from great) it was more disorganized and slow service, without many smiles, it felt like a lot of staff wanted to get off the ship, not just joined it.
It certainly didn't spoil the cruise, but I would avoid the situation if possible in future,
FYI it wasn't NCL.
-
So am I understanding this right?.......You paid for everyone and they paid you?
If so, next time; When payments are due, invite everyone round to your house for a 'pre cruise party' or something similar. Already have each couple set up with an NCL account. Tell them to bring their credit card. Pull up each couples account and have them enter their CC info. Or call NCL/ travel agent with their CC info.
If they don't pay...They don't go.

I've done chocolate buffets on other linrs but not NCL.
I make chocolate truffles with Belgian and Swiss chocolate. So I'm probably a choco snob...... but the chocolate itmes in the buffets have been cheap and I don't remember 1 single dish that was good.

Get your passport renewed.
Be careful how much personal info you give out on CC.

I read awhile back that Norwegian was going to stop offering straws with drinks. I was going to Amazon some stainless steel ones but want to make sure this was actually the case before I do. Can someone give me an update about this, especially from the Pearl? Thanks
Is it possible for someone to please post a sticky about straws please? I don't mean to be rude, rather... productive, this question is frequently asked, and would be easier on a sticky imo.

My boss got to where she would roll her eyes when I told her I had booked another cruise. I don’t have to put up with that negativity anymore. I’m retired now.
She must have been jealous.
-
My boss is the most supportive boss in terms of cruising ever.
She lets me surf CC, NCL, look up tours, and even plan lists and schedules all within company time, when time allows!
Too good to be true? Yep...I'm my own boss.

We just walked to the MDR every night and because there are three operating, we never had a problem getting a seat for any meal. You can't, however, always get a window seat.
Did you actually read OP's post?

This was Disney not NCL.......
I would call NCLto clarify.
I once purchased OBC for a friend as a surprise gift, they said they would put a card in her room saying that it was a gift from me. My intention was for her to get a massage, (she would have guessed that's what is was for)
No card in room... nothing, she didn't even realize she had OBC until last day... I was LIVID.

TA on Epic - Port Canaveral / Barcelona

I'm in my early 50's (don't act it tho!)
In my experience the longer the cruise the older the average age. This year is my first time with NCL so I'm crossing my fingers.
Last year I went on HAL for 2 weeks. NEVER AGAIN.
I certainly don't mean to be disrespectful, hopefully I will be old one day, (and I'll be booking a fun ship ha ha!) but I felt like my vacation was in a cruise retirement home.
