  1. What I'm reading here in some of the comments ... already exists, take a look at Seabourn (there are also a few others).

This obviously affects the cost of the cruise, check Seabourn prices compared to other companies.

I read somewhere that VV was going to be different, And having followed Sir Richard's career, I'm sure it will be, he will be building what we haven't even thought of.

There's no way VV will be going to Necker Island, his guests pay a fortune to stay there for exclusivity, plus he lives there now. Same applies to his other two islands. I can see him buying an island for the ship to dock though.

Anyway onto my ideas .... (although I'm sure all this is already designed)

An innovative decor, something completely different form regular cruise ship decor.

    Crazy activities.

    New destinations

    More adventurous food

  2. Your Champagne choice on the EBP is Nicholas Feuillatte, a very nice Champagne that sells for about $35/bottle at our local Total Wine. It carries the same 90 point rating as Veuve Clicquot. (I happen to like it better.)

We never has a flat glass, but I'd send it back if I got one. In the interest of science, we made sure to test the carbonation levels of the wine at least once a day, but usually twice.

Where are you cruising right now?

I'm looking at Koiningsdam in Caribbean October. Is this likely to change? Does anyone know?

Many Thanks in advance for your answers.

  3. Thanks for all of the replies, sorry I should have mentioned that I will be on the Eclipse.

The restaurant question, was merely to ask "your" favorites. Just curious.

Please don't bring your lego I think it might distract me from my jigsaw...LMAO!

    Thanks again

    Happy Cruising every one

  4. I would urge some consideration especially in the first day or 2 of a cruise. I guess we have all done it ...left the verandah door open and the door slams.

Also please don't take this into your own hands to resolve.

A number of cruises ago when we were travelling with our adult daughter who has learning difficulties, my husband was bringing in cases and the door slammed....we are usually very considerate but just made a mistake. Whilst our daughter was in on her own a very irate woman arrived at the door, took her to task till she cried. We were furious to hear what had happened on our return, however we didn't want this to escalate. We went to guest relations to explain what had happened. They were wonderful and asked us to leave it in their hands. Don't know what happened but the woman was as nice as pie next time we met!

Leave it to the professional to handle. I am horrified at some of the suggestions of early morning calls, removing do not disturb, post it notes on the door etc. If anything a polite message left on the phone would be more than sufficient. If it continues Guest relations.

Finally Tony ... the sensible answer, thank you

  5. My first cruise was with Princess, My husband was already an avid cruiser, mainly with Carnival, but wanted to try something better. That's when I came along and joined the family on Sun Princess... 12 years ago.

As my first cruise I came away with the impression that if that was cruising I was done, my husband and the rest of the family were also disappointed.

2 yeas later I was persuaded to try a Carnival cruise, And I loved it.

Since then I have sailed with, Royal Caribbean, Windstar, Carnival again, Holland America, Seabourn, and Celebrity... Yup quite a range.

    My faves in order;

    Seabourn

    Windstar

    HAL / Celeb ... joint

    Carnival

    Royal Carib

    Princess

We loved Celebrity last year and are going back this year on the Eclipse, taking my God daughter and her husband.

I think a suite on Celebrity would be awesome. And sorry I know this is Celebrity message board, but think about the smaller luxury ships, their service is superb and will spoil you.

I hope you can change your wife's mind, But I am biased, I will never go on Princess again, and I changed my ship and Itinerary this year after looking into the Panama canal... just not for me.

Good luck, there's more to cruising than Princess.

    :)

  6. Hi Everyone,

Could I get some of your personal input for beaches please?

I'm looking for quiet, or at best not crazy crowded, taxi fares there and back, how do I get back? will the taxi come back and pick us up? Need a bar :) the more tiki-ish in style the better.

    I am on the Eclipse in December and would love your imput to do my own thing rather than book a Celebrity trip for the following;

Looking for beach ideas for Curacao, will be doing an over night, so plenty of time.

Also, St Lucia, Antigua and St Kitts. Leave 5PM

Thanks for any help, and dos and don'ts much appreciated.

  7. Howdy, taylortime05...we are cruising on the Summit the week before you!

Barbados - we highly recommend Elegance Barbados for a catamaran/snorkel trip. A very intimate trip (there were maybe a dozen of us) with top notch service.

St. Maarten - we did a power boat tour with Captain Bob and this was the best day we have spent in the Caribbean EVER. Our guide took us through the harbor to see the zillion dollar yachts, up the coast to the French side for some swimming, then back down for an awesome lunch on the beach and swimming, then a stop at the end-of-the-runway at SXM. Plenty of drinks and music and sunshine with a group of about 10 of us.

St. Kitts - making our first ever visit there this upcoming trip, we are thinking about a taxi ride to Cockleshell beach.

St. Thomas - we just booked the Yacht Nightwind for a St.John's sail/snorkel trip. The reviews are excellent and we have had amazing luck with the smaller tour companies.

Do you have the contact details for the power boat tour with Captain Bob please? That sounds really good

    Thanks

  8. I'll never get tired of "The sail away moment"

It is sheer bliss for me and I get as excited as a kid at Christmas.

I think cruises are very good value, when you think what's included, accommodation, superb service, all meals and snacks, and drinks if you have a beverage package.

    LOVE IT xx

  9. Per board rules, we can only recommend businesses we have used. So, no, I doubt eandj is affiliated with the Bahia Mar. That comment was uncalled for.

We have stayed several times at both Embassy Suites and Hyatt Pier 66. Neither is near the beach, but they are near the port.

    I don't consider this a comment, I was asking a question.
