  1. Hello all you knowlegable folks! Quick question, does Carnival still charge an extremely higher rate for a single person in a cabin by themselves, I thought I read awhile back that something changed regarding single rates. We are a small group cruising with 2 in each room, 1 other person may join us & wants his own room.

Unless it is specified Single Occupancy sale you pay for 2 excluding the port fees

  2. Great review. We will on the Splendor in a few weeks with a spa balcony. This will be our 2nd spa cabin and we are hooked. Although this will be our 11th Carnival cruise it will be our first out of NYC.

Do you recall if you all set sail on time? We have early seating dining but will not miss the sail away from NYC for nothing.

    Again thanks...

I hve sailed Splendor 3 times and we sailed by 4:30 and made 6:00 dinner with no problem

  3. We're excited about an Eastern Caribbean itinerary on Splendor. But in all my "googling" I was reminded that Splendor had a fire and was stranded at sea. I am very curious to hear from anyone who has been on this ship "post fire" and whether or not you would suggest it. I read one review that said it still had a bad odor in certain areas of the ship. Can that be possible?! We love Carnival despite the string of bad luck they had a couple years ago, but I also want to be informed before I invest vacation money and put my family onboard. Thanks!

Went in Sept and Jan and going again in May. Love the Splendor!

  4. It amazes me to hear how guests are getting strawberries, wine, and other goodies deliveried to their cabins after reaching 1500 points in the casino. I gambled plenty and received my drinks on us card but I never received anything outside of that. I traveled on Pride in April of 2013. So after the cruise (after reading several posts) I tried to call the players club and all they told me for my upcoming cruise was that I had to play during the cruise and comps would be sent to my room if I played enough in the casino. Has anybody ever called and had them back track to get comps?

If you had 5,000 points on last cruise you usually get the drinks on us right away. But not back tracking comps.

  5. Hi everybody

I am new to this board not really new to cruising. This time will be different. Because it is so difficult to find someone to cruise with. I am going solo. Does anyone have any tips to share. :)

I have always booked a single room but gone with people til January of this year. Went solo and loved it! Carnival does a great job matching dining people and it was really fun getting to know them. You will absolutely love it. You go when and where you want!

  6. We are sailing on the Slendor Monday from NYC to Bahamas. Been awhile since we cruised and so much has changed.

    1. We signed up for FTTF but didn't receive anything with it like a pass or voucher- how do they know we are legit? We just get in line and they'll look us up I suppose?

    2. If we check our bags with a porter at the pier and our cabin is still TBA, how do the bags get to our room ahead of us with FTTF? Our luggage tags still have TBA on them as of today. Do you think we'll get a cabin assignment before Monday?

    3. I'm worried about the weather and what to wear. I've only cruised in the summer and to hot places so I brought summer clothes, sandals, etc. Will people be wearing sandals and summer clothes the first night out of NYC or will they be dressed more like NYC winter weather? I know the deck will be chilly, but I'm thinking more of the casino, dining room, etc.?

    4. I thought I read that sometimes the pool slides aren't open the entire time when you cruise in winter, even when we hit Florida. Is that true? If so I'm going to have 2 disappointed little boys with me. Anyone know?

Thanks to anyone that can help me with these questions. Also, if anyone has cruised in winter down to the Bahamas from NYC and has any advice - I'm all ears.

I am on the same cruise - My F2F is on my luggage tag and boarding pass

  7. I actually won a couple of decent wins this year on ship and have to file on my taxes from carnival casino this year....thing is I know overall I have lost more and needing to know whom I can contact to get a win/loss statement for the year on all cruises via carnival to offset. Does anyone have a email or number I could contact to request this?

    Thanks

The only time you really need one isif you are audited. You can claim without having it in hand.

  8. This is so true!

It's funny - I purchased trip insurance every time and always thought of it as taking care if I missed the trip. However I got hurt on one trip and found out it reimbursed my medical insurance deductible and coinsurance so using just that once paid for all the times I purchased it.
