if you meet people and want to party in your cabin, are the snacks etc free or billed to you? i do know every drink has to be paid for regardless.

Room service is free as you use your butler. They can get anything for you if it's free. Anything from the speciality restaurant it will be billed to you

  2. Like complawyer said, if you can afford the extra dollars then go for it. $400pp is min bid. Personally I would up it by about another $50 as others would just do the min bid

Also read up what is available if and when you get it. You might not think you need certain amenities but you might surprise yourself.

We are regular Haven guests. Pretty low maintenance who don't really need much but our last cruise we used room service via our butler a lot. When in previous cruises we never used it at all.

Remember also to add in extra $$$ in tips for your butler and concierge who aren't part of the gratitudes scheme

If we (parents) get a Haven room, but our kids (over 21 years of age) get a regular balcony room, can they go to any of the Haven area ( pool or restaurant) as guests of us?

Simple answer is no. They can go to your cabin but that's about it

If you wish for them to dine with at the Haven restaurant then you will have to chat to the concierge who can arrange it. Though that is limited. There will be a surcharge to do so. Breakfast was $25pp whilst lunch and dinner were $35pp for non haven guests. If memory serves me right. Bear in mind the concierge can turn around and say no. Maybe it's a busy night at the Haven restaurant. They can see how many are going to speciality restaurant and make an educated guess

If you wish your children to join you in the Haven you might want to consider helping them pay for a haven cabin.

Forgive me in advance if I missed something obvious, but has anyone posted the latest Haven menus? I read that they had changed fairly recently and I can't seem to find them.  Trying to decide how many nights of a 21 day Panama Canal cruise that we might want to try specialty dining?

Maybe I was charged because I let the Concierge know I was inviting them as my guests?  (I wouldn't invite anyone to the Haven for dinner and make them pay, but that's just me.)

No offence taken. All of my guests were people I met on board the cruise. I make friends easily . So I'm guessing they didn't think they would have an opportunity to eat in the Haven before they cruise. And so were happy to pay for their meals. They treated it like speciality dinner.

And each time  I asked the concierge and maitre'd before inviting people to the restaurant

When you have dinner guests in the Haven restaurant, the Haven guest is charged (not the non-Haven visitor.)

That said, I've had dinner guests in the Haven restaurant many times and have actually only been charged once. (Depends upon the Concierge.)

Not always the case. I have had guests on different cruises and each time, the guests were charged not me

  7. Another thing to try in your next cruise Gary is having different meals I different locations. Especially breakfast.

I remember our first cruise and always had breakfast in the buffet but as more cruises go on, we learnt to not stick to one place

Ships have so many different restaurants with at least half complimentary. Don't limited yourself. Try different ones  Even  go to different locations for different courses Use them all if you can. You might be surprised.

You could say the same about the bars but as I don't drink, someone else can advise

  8. You don't know by chance the UK got talent act? Personally I don't really care but my partner loves those programmes. When we were in the Epic, the new dinner and show had several such acts

With what's going in the world just now, cruising is a blessing. So I understand why you burn out so quickly at the start.

We are in a pickle just now with one of future cruises. Friends are sailing on the Jewel in March 23 and I like to join them. However the Haven is way out of my price range and it's the only factor stopping us changing from the breakaway in Feb 23 to that. Great deal and all. Best I can do is either win the lottery or hope the price drops

  9. Food is subjective.

My partner and I have different views on food. She loves Cagney's whilst I think it's so so and I love steak. The Italian is also the same.  So we always compromise. One choice is her's which is always La Cucina. I always chose teppenkani.

So work our what kind of food you like and go for that. Le Bistro was nice on Breakaway but it meant dressing up for dinner. We are going to try Ocean Blue on Getaway in March.

  10. WeMy guess is that your cruise won't sailing at anywhere near capacity if you are getting upgrade bids now. So you will be upgraded to a higher category. More money for NCL

You aren't specific to which cruise you will be on or when so this is just a guess.

As to which cabins to bid, bid for the three you like as you don't know how many available cabins are in each category nor how many other people are also bidding. For the one you really want, I would bid higher if that's you want to do.

    Good luck

the Haven, I may have misspoken.  I was trying to say that I read you can have any HAVEN meal at any time in the Haven, ie dinner menu options at lunch, etc.

My apologies. I misread your comment.

Yeah that was a good Thursday morning. We sometimes do dinner like too when we have a show. Pre show and after the show.

but I also read that you can order any meal at any time in the Haven, so we may not be limited to what's on the dinner menu.

All. Depends on the restaurant manager. So don't be disappointed if they say no. It means one wait staff needs to leave the haven to get it. If they do say no, make use of your butler and have it in your cabin

Also, because I am a pig, I'll probably try to do both the Haven and American Diner, if allowed.584262355_AmericanDiner (2).pdf

Totally possible. It all down to timing.

On my last cruise, I had three breakfasts in three restaurants in one morning. First taste as my partner wasn't up yet. Then haven as age was getting ready and finally O'Sheehan as she was ready

I had waffles in Taste, avocado toast in Haven and finally a fry breakfast in O'Sheehan.

  14. We finally reach platinum in our last cruise. It only took 4 cruises but 5 years (due to covid) Having only sailed Haven with NCL we get a minimum of double points per night. Our first  cruise was worth 3 points per night which meant we went straight to Gold in one sailing. The last one we received 4 points per night.

Just wondering how long other people took to reach platinum?

  15. Aim is to fill the Haven. It makes good marketing sense. Entice people who won't normally pay haven prices. Let them win their bids. Then watch as most but not all  won't or couldn't go back to non haven cabins.

By moving people up to havens, you can also move other people in lower types of cabins up. It might not be full price for cabins but getting those extra dollars from the customers is great for NCL.

If you had a choice of a possible upgrade to Haven Courtyard or definitely pay for a Haven Spa... what are the pros and cons... on Breakaway...

If these are bids then bid in both and hope you win one of them.

If it is you upgrading yourself then for me, it's about the cost. For every individual who says it's location, another should say it doesn't matter. The courtyard will probably be more expensive but you never know. Sometimes it's boils down to supply and demand. With the haven spa, you will get the spa pass included in the cost

I have never stayed in the haven area but I do stay in a haven cabin. I'm not bothered about the distance and treat it like another location on the ship I have access to. We have never felt we were less of a haven guest staying outside.
