  1. Thanks everyone for the great information! We have several couples going and trying to lock down a date is challenging. My guess is we will shoot for the 20-27 to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Most likely arriving in New Orleans a few days prior to enjoy the city. This will be the first time sailing from New Orleans. Are there any restrictions with Cheers like Galveston? or are we good to go right away?

  2. Trying to plan a cruise on the Dream from New Orleans for January 2019. I think the group prefers early to mid January. The options are: Cozumel, Montego Bay, and Grand Cayman (Jan 6-13/20-27). Key West, Nassau, Freeport (Jan 13-20) or late January at Mahogany Bay, Belize, Cozumel (Jan 27-Feb 3). For that time of year would the Bahamas be a little on the cooler side potentially for swimming/beach stuff? I am guessing that at that time of year that Jamaica, Cozumel, Belize or Roatan might be warmer than the Bahamas? I would love to hear from folks who have done these itineraries at that time of year. Thanks in advance!!

  3. All you need to do is contact Carnival and they should be able to switch you. The only hitch is that the fare could have changed since you booked so you may be responsible for difference if the fare has gone up. I don't think it matters if you booked through Costco or not. Just give them a call and you will find out for sure! Good luck!

  4. We did Mexican Riviera in Feb 2014 on the Miracle and the weather was high 80's low 90's and sunny. Perfect weather to plant your toes in the sand on Medano Beach at The Mango Deck. Added bonus for going that time of year is all the whales you will see. Whales were breaching right next to the ship while anchored in Cabo and it was an awesome sight.

  5. Thanks for posting! We had Cheers for our last cruise and I easily hit the 15 mark so yeah it's a winner for us. My wife at least passed the break even point each day. Add that it's already paid for just makes it a more relaxing vacation. Sail on the Miracle in 11 days can't wait!!

  6. The $4.50 seems more than reasonable for having it delivered to your stateroom. We have done this on previous cruises and also on our upcoming cruise. It sure beats lugging it around with you. It's up to the individual to determine if its a reasonable expense or not and it is to us. We get Cheers and still order a 12 pack for the room, just for the convenience.

  7. I can certainly understand folks wanting to cancel if their itinerary included many of the devastated ports. Some people cruise for the ports while others could care less where the ship is going....as long as its going! For me...I would likely be disappointed about missing a port I was excited about but I doubt I would cancel. I really can't imagine a more stress free vacation than cruising. No worries about where you are going to eat or what you are going to do just relaxing and having everything done for you is pretty amazing. We are scheduled to cruise in 2 weeks out of Long Beach on the Miracle and while the threat of a major storm is unlikley it is still possible as Cabo has been walloped recently by a Hurricane. So if our itinerary gets changed so be it, we will have a great time either way. Wishing everyone a great cruise no matter when or where you are going!! Cheers!

  8. I did not know there is a code. Where would one find this code and use it?

    Here you go

We arrived in Long Beach after an uneventful drive from The Phoenix area on May 28 and checked into the Hotel Maya. I had found a few different Carnival Corporate codes, p41 didn't work but 0560018220 did and got a great rate which included parking for the cruise.

  9. Thanks for the update and the pics. We will be on the Miracle in less than 3 weeks!!

    We were on this cruise.

About 6 or 7 in the morning it sounded like our cabin was about to fall off the ship (deck 4 aft). I went out on the balcony and saw the starboard propeller wasn't "propelling". The port prop was blowing water halfway back to Sitka. Been on at least 10 cruises on Spirit class ships always on the aft, deck 4 and have never seen that before. A few minutes later the operation returned to normal. When the power went out later that morning it had that same shudder. Within minutes the big back up generator fired up and partial power was restored. (We had a clamshell center of the aft when the power went out, didn't walk out there until about 9 and there were 5 or 6 clamshells vacant, older crowd). We were definitely bobbing around for a while. Cruise director announced there was nothing to worry about - we were "in the middle of the Pacific Ocean". I get the jest of his comment, but I bet some of the older folks didn't find that assuring😜.

I was out on the balcony when we pulled into port and saw the tug pull around to the back of the boat like he was going to push it ( and on deck 4 the tug was basically in my face) but he pulled up so he could pass a rope to the Miracle crew. In those 10 or so cruises Spirit class cruises, always deck 4 aft or corner, I've never seen a tug boat tie up to the aft of the ship in Long Beach.

I watched closely and the tug NEVER had full tension on the rope, (and also never let it dip into the water (remarkable skill). So I assume this was an insurance measure in case there was another power failure while docking, that would not be good. The Miracle powered itself in and tied up as it always have.

The water in the toilet was a light yellow all 14 days. And the linen, some was the loveable brilliant white, and some was dull looking. Didn't bother us tho, all part of the journey.

Sucky pictures, had to transfer from phone to iPad then resize......
