Unreal.
Who actually notices this stuff??? :D I am happy to get more if I pay more or book a certain service. Pretty much every business has a loyalty program.
I like a balcony for the fresh air and sense of space. Wouldn't knock a suite back if offered, but not sure the perks & additional room would mean I would pay for it. I couldn't stand the thought of being stuck with my hubs as my only dinner companion :( for a 16 day+ cruise! We both need the table mates to share the load of the other's annoyingness!!!! :D so blu would not work for us!

LOL, :D you don't need a lanyard, but you do want the drinks.:D
That's what I reckon! :D

Sorry tiger :o, my comments were for "By the Bay", I see you have also been there already!
By the Bay, the area at the top is all very close to each other. It is safe to leave basics on the ground & you paddle about. It is not like a beach where you go out into the ocean a distance away from your gear. There are lots of little rock pools everywhere. It is worth the effort.:)

Hi John
I live in this part of Tassie ,best option if you want to get around is to rent a car ,the traffic is very light and the city itself is easy to navigate and park in ,I would recommend driving along the coat in a westerly direction .Highlights are Table Cape ,Boat Harbour ,Sisters Beach Stanley If you dont feel like driving Burnie itself is right on the sea and the city centre is an easy walk from the port.Burnie has some good sights like the Whiskey distillary ,makers centre etc.
Greeno, what's the nice fish n chip cafe on the waters edge called? Definitely a pretty lace for lunch??! :)

This is the other link.
Not sure if it will let me post it.
If not try googling play around in Tassie Burnie.
At least get a sense of their itinerary.

Hmmm. I had some other links.
One was trip adviser for Burnie.

Oh, if you are hiring a car, book early. I suggest you organise a party via your CC roll call unless you want to travel by yourselves :).
Tassie often runs out of hire cars at peak times. ie I've flown in on school holidays & tried 4x car hire companies at airport before one had a vehicle available! ;)

Johnny have you checked points of call? I remember posting some links ages ago for that.
A trip to the lavender farm, taswegia and pancake parlour is lovely as is ashgrove cheeses, anvars chocolates, axe mans hall of fame. But the Raspberry farm is hard to miss out on! :)

We have used the same TA 2x now. A big online oz agency really not impressed with their efforts other than price. We are yet to recieve lanyards after 2 bookings (one sailed already) even though there notes say they have sent them out 3x . I couldn't give 2 hoots for a free lanyard, but if you are going to say you've sent them, then do it, don't lie about it.
We have changed to a large US based TA for 2015 bucket list cruise. They focus on cruises and vacations. Service has been ok, but a pain to covert US back to AU etc. they will match price drops though, so will see how I go with them. :)

I think some will really enjoy it, while most will be working as hard as ever.
I bet they. Will be found jobs, no down time like when cruisers go to shore & no tips so I come will be down for just as hard work. :(
Be interested to hear what they really think. Wonder how many cabins get "mysteriously" rumpled beds.....:D

When we abseiled the waterfalls the company said to leave our stuff in the van and they would lock until we were all done and could collect our stuff to change. Had no problem with this.
We saw other people just swimming and they just had it left on a rock nearby where they could see it.
Hi tiger. We didn't really have any with us. Just some money the camera and a key card really. I paddled in the icy water & hubs took pics etc. the waterfall is lovely & a hike. Wear sensible shoes that can get wet, ie on slippery wet rocks. It is pretty puffy in places! Take some water to drink. :)

I have 2x collegues on the next sailing. Following with interest! :)

Have seen a few lanyards - it seems to be an Australian thing as on cruises with a more international passenger list, they are not in view as much. Personally I do not do the lanyard thing - I have a pocket and that does. I have a lanyard at work and do not want to wear one on holiday.
I don't think anyone will care what kind of lanyard you have if you want to keep your sea pass on one. Your P&O one would be fine. Actually, the TA's seem to send lanyards with their own names on them. Mine go straight to the round filling cabinet on the floor ;) On an RCI cruise last year the bling diamonte ones were very popular.
I wear one for my work too. Cannot stand the idea of one for holidays. I wear it around my wrist when on board. Hidden when on shore! :)

Oh dear. We are on the Silly soon. Hubs is a coffee snob too :(. I hope he doesn't moan about the coffee for 16 days straight!! :D Considering we will be coming from Italy, I imagine he'll have some decent comparisons to whinge about!!

We are booked for a cruise later next year that does both the South Pacific and NZ. Might just be the type of thing that would solve your dilemma. :)
I was thinking of that too goody. There is an itinerary that does NZ then up to Sth Pac Ises. Might be worth a look if you are lying all this way! :)

I am on the next cruise after this and I am nervous. But will see how it goes. All we can so is make the most of it!

Sorry but DH and I are those oldies who hog cruises...as much as I would love to have a go at your 3 suggestions I can see us both in a Brisbane hospital with fractured hips. But hey I did go parasailing in Bali, of all places, many years ago. I live on my memories. on.
LOL :D with humour like that, you will never be old! Segways are a lot of fun though! ;)

Interesting discussion. I think if you know the costs you want to pay, then regardless of the time you book, if the price fits go for it!
:) we have booked a 2015 cruise for just a tad over $150 p. day for a Balcony. We picked a few grades up to get what we want. Happy and not expecting the price to drop much more, but have plenty of time to monitor it for changes.
Our Christmas Cruise was booked after final payment, but at the peak time with no flights needed. We paid just a tad under $190 p.day for a balcony, but again a higher grade in a fantastic location. Loved the entire experience & worth every cent. Other couples paid an additional $500 pp for that cruise on a balcony lower down that was covered in spray. They were happy with their price we were (discretely of cause ;)) "happy as" with ours. They had booked much further out & paid more for a lower grade cabin.
