  1. According to http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Victoria&from=The+Fairmont+Empress%2C+Government+Street%2C+Victoria%2C+BC%2C+Canada&to=Craigdarroch+Castle%2C+Joan+Crescent%2C+Victoria%2C+BC%2C+Canada&fromCoord=48.421834,-123.36687&toCoord=48.422378,-123.34382700000003, (hope the link works), it is not too expensive by cab. Approximately C$10.26.

According to Google Maps, walking would take about 30min.

For Buses, try: http://bctransit.com/victoria/schedules , use the Trip Planner and enter The Fairmont EMpress to Craigdarroch Castle. It will show you the various option to get there via transit.

    Hope this helps.

  2. No charge for Moderno's for breakfast or lunch. It's kind of a hidden gem that many people do not realize has food during those times. It seems like the masses coming from the pool deck head left to the buffet instead of right to Moderno's.

Won't be such a well kept secret if you people keep spilling the beans!!! ;)

  3. We are on the Sun out of Tampa for 29 day cruise. Tampa to Alaska. First time cruising! What can we expect. We are in ocean view on 9 deck. Packing is an issue because of 29 days plus variety of weather. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Momellis,

I am sure you are in for a great time! Wish I could continue to Alaska with you, but the boss has other plans... :( This is my 3rd cruise, but first on the Sun! Come join our roll call for the Tampa to Vancouver part of the cruise. There should be one for the 10 days after as well.

  4. There IS a difference between RVing and camping. It is not camping if you bring all the convenience of home with you! :D. I quite often will head off on a forest service road with some friends and set up my tent in the middle of nowhere for a relaxing weekend. (Bonus if it to one of the natural hot springs) To me, RV's are great if you are heading to a destination but you cannot beat a tent for a fantastic nights sleep.

  5. There is a street car system in downtown Tampa. It will take you to historic Ybor City which has museums and good restaurants, as well as other points of interest in the area.

From Rocky Point, you would need to take a taxi to the downtown area. Apx $25 - $30 plus tip each way) Your best bet would be to have a drop off and pick up at the Channelside area. This is where the Florida Aquarium is located. From there, you can jump on the trolley and go from area to area.

*** The Channelside area is also where the port of Tampa is located.

Here is a really good link to some things to do and see in the downtown Tampa area.

Considering the price of the taxi fare, it may be worth it just to check into the rates of some of the downtown Tampa hotels. This would put you right on the trolley-line routes plus right near the port for your cruise. Just a suggestion.

    Thank you FlaGrl4Evr.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like a great area, if you drive. Will continue my search. :)

  6. If you don't rent a car, is there any way to get from Rocky Point to other parts of Tampa? We are going to be in Tampa 2 nights pre cruise and would like to have a look around, but I don't like driving in places that I haven't got the slightest idea about navigating in..

  7. I would think it gets added to older ships as they drydock. Pearl and Jewel were recently refurbished, were they not ? I do not believe they had it on the Pearl when I was aboard in Sept. 2013, but I was a noob, so maybe I missed it.

  8. When I flew LAX to YVR last month, Customs took less than 20min. Filled out form on Airplane, scanned it and my passport at the kiosk, handed printout to customs guy and he waved me through. I dont know for sure, but would assume Pearson has the same process as Vancouver. You know, with Toronto being the centre of the universe. :D
