I only use our credit card……

Also if you are cruising out of Terminal 1 I highly recommend you get the to port very early to grab one of the few spaces in the parking deck.  Currently there are at least two ships going out of there and parking spaces have become a premium.  Otherwise you can except to have to park, in the overflow outside, across the street in a gravel lot or on the other side of the terminal next to a warehouse with a long walk to the terminal!!

Since that makes us very early for our check in time we either sit in the car for awhile or walk over to Grills and have a drink and a bite to eat…

Whatever terminal marti Gras is using is where Im parking. I plan to be there early, but you still have to wait for others to get off the ship and out of the parking area before new guests can arrive.

We have a teeny little drone smaller than a cell phone. Since my joy is photography but my mobility is limited, I was hoping to use the drone to take pictures from the walls and vistas I cannot climb.
I see drones are in the “do not bring” list. We have no intention of pulling it out in board. But do you think they will notice it in our luggage when we board? Or in our back packs when we return from a port? It looks like a little portable charger except for little wings that fold in. If they do prohibit it, will they return it at the end of the cruise? It would be worth risking it if we will get it back.
Or, could we tell them we have it and leave it with the bursar till the end? We are traveling beyond the cruise and can use it then.
Would love hell making this choice.

I took my Mavid Pro on carnival Sunshine on my last cruise in 2018. Had no problems, kept it in my cabin and use it ashore. BUT. On my Upcoming cruise Oct 1st this year on carnival Marti Gras, I was reading the list.. And they require you to give the drone to security when you board the ship, and "check it out" when in ports.  In that case, I decided to not take my drone on this trip.

So at the time of this posting, Carnival will allow Drones, but you have to leave them with security while your on the ship.

So I guess swimwear is mandatory then, not just a towel. I was on the Sunshine and they had the seperate M/F sauna, but the steam room was part of the upgraded thermal suites to which i had a Spa Cabin. I will be on the Oct 1st sailing on marti Gras with same type cabin booked.

I watched a Youtube video that someone posted, they said that the mens and Womans lockerroom had seperate Saunas. Of course, the guy said he didnt find it till the last day of the cruise. I will find it if its there,  a few hours after I get onboard. LOL. If not, no big deal.

  5. They are on the prohibited list. Good luck getting it on board. Be aware that most of the island have laws that prohibit their use.

They allow "drone cameras". Ive seen plenty of youtube videos where there flown while ashore in many of the ports.

They only recommend that you keep the drone in your cabin while not in use and while onboard, etc.

Ive decided due to me flying to FLL from Atlanta and the hassle of traveling with a bunch of people and crap, lugging bags around for 10 hours before the return flight home, (thanks to my sister, she says its cheaper)and her making threats that she will "raise hell".... I WONT be taking my Phantom 3 Pro on this trip... Last time I remember, Im a grown adult and the oldest sibling in the family, I should not let my sister push me around. Its bad enougth That I have to deal with early sitting dinner whenever we go as a family... LOL.

Next cruise I WILL be DRIVING to the port and I will bring the drone... And coming without family members...

  6. Thanks for all the replies. Its a Phantom 3 Pro which takes 4K videos. Im going eastern to GT, PR, St Kitts, and St Marten. I have seen allot on youtube with drone flying in those areas, expecially from guys who advertise and promote them. Plus ive seen recent videos where people took theres on Carnival and flown ashore. As far as people getting "filmed" etc. It wont be any different then somebody walking around with a go pro or cell phones, Plus I will be 200-400 ft up in air off the beach out over water. For the people not "educated" on how a drone camera works, at 200ft and up you cannot identify one person from another. All your going to see is "ants" as people.

I understand that checking it is risky. But the case I have is to large to carry on a plane. Its in a hard plastic waterproof/rugged case with foam to keep everything secure. I do have TSA locks for it. Im putting it inside a larger suitcase so its not noticable to onlookers. But being in that suitcase, i dont think it will fit though the security scanner at the port unless I remove it first. I do have contacts on youtube that checks theres on planes all time with no issues. Im still Paranoid though.

I normally drive to all my cruises, but this time everybody decided they want to fly instead. Ive had the drone now for about a year. This is my second one. (still have 2). BTW. Ive flown about 125 flights so far and I do so responsibly. I have close to 2K invested in each one and with that much money spent, I dont fly around like those Idiots you hear about on news.

I havent decided yet if Im taking it. I have 4 days to think it over.

Its the yellow case on top of the other one.

  7. Actually they aren not prohibited, according to Carnival's own site regarding prohibited items. The site has two things that sort of contradict themselves.

First it says any radio controlled flying toys are prohibited, but if you go to the bottom of the list it says for items allowed in port only, drone cameras.

I saw that a few months ago. I was just asking here If anybody took one onboard just recent.

  9. Who here has recently brought there "drone" on the cruise? Before all the "flaming" starts... It will be only used while ashore since it requires Compass Calibration which cant be done correctly due to all metal on the ship. Anyhow.. Its a P3P that will be in a hard case inside a suitcase. I will be on the Conquest next week and would like to bring it for use in some of the ports.

  10. We are booked on the Carnival Pride for Feb. 2017. The itinerary was changed from Colon port to a partial transit in the canal.

Can anyone tell me if there are any excursions to go ashore while in the lake?

For those that have gone on such before, what is offered at this time? Perhaps an on-board speaker? Thanks in advance.

    Kev

Where does the cruise start from? Does it come back to the same port? (closed loop).

    Never mind.. Got my answer..

  11. In regard to your question about how other lines do muster, I can speak for Princess, having been on seven cruises with them. I was surprised to read how chaotic your Carnival cruise was in general. I think Princess has great boarding and disembarking, quick, well organized. It may also be the type of passengers they get who are older and better behaved themselves, so they're easier to work with. It helps when people generally follow the rules.

The muster is strictly given, usually in restaurants, with a visible crew in the line of sight of every group of passengers. But I have wondered, I know we're supposed to go to the muster station/restaurant/theater in an emergency, but the instinct is to be outside at those lifeboats!

I've heard the comedians joke along the lines of, "In an emergency, I'm not going to the theater!"

But the Princess crew seem well trained. I still will try and think for myself and not "go to my cabin" if I'm in a Concordia situation.

Fortunately, this will probably never happen.

That being said, I kind of expect a mega-disaster someday with one of the giant ships. And it seems like it's just not going to work well.

True, but not all emergencys require a "lifeboat". In the case of the Costa Incident, If I notice that the ship is leaning over greatly for a long period of time and not righting itself like going over a wave or making a maneaver, etc. I will be out in open on a top deck where I wont be in a trapped situation.

All my cruises are in the Caribbean, I know the sea water isnt "freezing" or to cold to cause death. Plus your in a busy shipping area and tons of ships are not to far away. Now cruise ships travel in pairs. So if you end up having to "jump ship" due to capsizing or sinking just hold on till you get near the water and with life jacket on or any other floating debris around.. Yes there will be plenty, just wait till you get picked up. No fighting with the Mobs trying to get into a lifeboat like the titanic days.. Because you know people are going to act that way even today with modern techology...

  12. I don't trust security on any ship. I don't think they're qualified to take certain conditions under control like riots and fighting. I saw one youtube video of a skinny little woman in a bikini drunk, who practically drowned a security officer. She was like a wet slippery seal sliding out of their reach. She jumped on the back of one of them and held him under! So, no, I don't trust the crew in situations like that. Maybe in the loss of engine power or a fire, they know what to do.

All the guy had to do was "stand up".. the pools arent that deep... LOL. Expecially with a "small" female on his back.

  13. I had a cabin directly under the gym on a Carnival Fantasy class ship. Yea you can hear the people above on the treadmills and some dropping weights on floor. Im sure its the same way on all other ships as far as noise goes. That sounds like a HIgh End cruise line and they probably have "snobbish" people on there that complain allot so they changed the hours the gym is open..
