  1. I believe if you want to use the steam and sauna will have to pay.

All the Carnival cruise ships that i know of, use of the steam room and sauna are free. Some ships they give you a locker key (they hold your SS card) and the dream class or newer ships you put in your own combination for the lockers. So you dont have to surrender your SS card.

  2. The cruise departs on Saturday March 26th, returns Sunday April 3rd. The return flight seems to be problem. I have found better fares, but they all leave too early on Sunday morning. I have been using google flights to check prices. Is there another site you would recommend?

Also, for those that recommended driving, I don't think the 4 and 7 year old will hold up to well on a 36 hour car ride!!

Sure they will.. I was 9 and my sister and brother was 7 and 4 back in 1972 when we drove the USA over 2 months (38 states).. Had a blast.. Back then there was NO Phones, no TV, NO DVDs like today.. I had to look out the window instead of having my face glued to a screen like they do today... Put a screen in front of there faces.. get in the car and drive........ LOL.

  3. If you are looking for romance on your first cruise, your best chance would be one of the all-gay charters from RSVP or Atlantis. All ages and many different desires are found there. Paying double for a single cabin would give you more freedom, but sharing can work too.

Im 52 and like younger guys.. Im traveling with family but have my own seperate cabin. I will be on Carnival Conquest for Dec 12th 2015 cruise.

  4. couples that get off the ships there, just act "normal" as in don't act "gay", don't hold hands, don't walk feminine, etc.. You know what I mean.. And if the locals ask about you, just say your brothers or another family member. I went ashore with my brother in law and nobody thought twice about us.. Because I didn't "act gay" even though I still wore a Speedo at the beach.... LOL.

  5. I'll be in SXM next Fri.(13th) and im going to Orient but will take a walk over to Galion to see whats up. Nothing going on at Cupecoy anymore(I was there April 2014) They cut out all the bushes and cut all the trees short to give a good view for the new condos(most empty) built on the hill above the beach. What a waste!

No.. They really cut them back to stop the "cruising".. LOL. Im sure the locals know what goes on there.

  6. Tampa is the only port that I know of where you can get close to the ship as there is a large deck area outside a mall area separated by glass bulkheads of course. I stood there as the ship pulled in and I got on it a few hours later. I watched everything from dropping the gangways to dumping trash.

  7. I'm interested to hear feedback also Tammytam. We're booked on the Dream in March in regular balconies, but I'd like to move aft. The only concern I had was the Lanai right below. If on a high enough deck I wondered if the lanai would be an issue?

These were taken from my aft balcony on the dream (dec 14 2013 cruise).I was on deck 7. One show the Lanai deck below.

  8. First, passengers are not permitted on the helipad on the Oasis/Allure. I do not even know how he could have accessed it.

Further, if he did, I am sure that he would have been noticed immediately by the bridge and action would have been taken.

There are allot of areas you can go where your not supposed to.. They normally don't lock doors. only put up notices where it says "crew only. That wont stop a curious passenger, expecially one of college age, and drunk.. Remember the one kid who climbed the mast on a carnival ship and got killed by the radar when it was started up? And at 3am there isn't much activity onboard and anybody walking out onto the bow area you couldn't tell if he or she was crew or passenger anyhow due to the darkness and lack of lighting. The front of the ship is completely dark for Nav reasons and visability.

  9. You can make a rather serviceable floating device from a pair of long pants. Take them off, zip them up, tie a knot near the ankles, grasp near the waist, take a deep breath, stick your head inside the waist band and exhale. Repeat. After a few minutes, you will have inflated your floating device. Put a leg under each arm. You may need to add air.

One of the things I was taught in Boot camp when I was in the Navy. I was also taught how to jump from a ship and survive.

  10. NO.. It hasn't.. Only for the "Honest" people who go by the rules. I was on the Pride dec 14 cruise and had a aft balcony (7300). I like to sleep with the door open since my cabin was ice cold and couldn't get the ac to warm up and also to hear the prop wash. ANYHOW... I wake up in middle of night with my cabin smelling of cig odor. Later in week I look outside and can see the flash of my neighbor lighting his lighter and cigarettes.

People normally "break the rules" and smoke on balconys late at night thinking everyone else is sleeping and wont notice.. Well.. I DID.

  11. The daily Carnival paper will specify no shorts on Elegant night .

However on our recenty Liberty cruise , shorts were rampant and

    there was no enforcement.

Looks like CCL and other CL's are following Disney's lead soon , anything goes.

Looking at those hairy legs at dinner is upsetting , even on the men .

That's strange. I was on the Liberty 2 yrs ago and they almost didn't let me in the MDR because they "thought" I had on shorts when they noticed it was a Kilt instead..

  12. That is the strangest thing. I have never experienced that restriction of Lido buffet closed during main dining room service. I too would like to know if it was every night. If so, that would mean EVERYONE would be forced to dress formal if they wanted diner at least one night. I liked being able to not pack extra formal wear and just hit the buffet during whatever evening in more casual fashion.

Should this be true, I guess it would explain the lackluster service in Normandie since everyone is forced to go there every night for dinner.

....holding out hope this is not the case and still looking forward to my January long needed get away. Thanks for taking the time to do the review!

On formal night I noticed several people dressed casual and one guy had a shirt on from his "job" that had his name on front and Harley Davidson as well. I was in a Kilt and Tux. I don't care what others wear. It don't effect my cruise any....

  13. I was on Pride last week. NO HDMI on TVs, most cabins had the old tube style. Mine did (cabin 7300). Didn't see game on the big screen, but I noticed they didn't have it playing shows and movies 24 hours like on the Dream last year. They had a screen saver going with beach/ ocean scene when they didn't play movies.

Hot tubs and pools all worked, but the one in the gym didn't seem like it was warm enough.

  14. Carnival is the Southwest Airline of the Seas.

More like "Spirit Airlines" of the seas.. But as long as im "P" with Carnival, I will continue to sail with them. I can ignore other pax that don't act correctly in nature.

I also noticed they don't enforce the new anti smoking rules on balconys. Since my neighbor smoked every night on theres since I like to sleep with the door open to hear the prop wash. This was last week.

  15. I believe i just watched the Pride dock (1/2 hr ago) via webcam. Was it not live (said live feed). Or are you still on ship?? Just curious because if you did just get in i am extremely glad we changed our return flight to Monday!![emoji4]

They were still unloading bags few minutes ago. So I think they haven't cleared for general debarking yet. Im also watching the webcam. I go on the next cruise..
