  1. At the conclusion of our muster drill today we were notified that we would not be leaving the dock at Tampa until 9 pm this evening.

After apeaking with three members of the crew it is clear that they all know they have some issues to correct. The crew I spoke too stated that nearly all of the crew is new.

For the most part, the interior areas of the ship appear clean and ready for the guests.... My extended balcony is VERY dirty.... The wood floor appears to have not been cleaned since dry dock.... The glass on the balcony is so dirty that it slightly limits your view.

Several of the times listed in the Fin Times are already wrong.... But I can assure you that these small issues will not ruin my cruise but I would have hoped that these type of issues would have been addressed three weeks after dry dock.

I am not trying to dump on Carnival..... I am a faithful customer to the brand as I am lacking platinum status by 6 sailing days.... Instead just trying to give those of you who are waiting on additional post dry dock pride info some ideas on the status of her and her crew.

    Happy sailing,

    Rick

Im watching the webcam and i noticed the Holland America is still docked as well. They had a issue earlyer with a capsized boat in the channel couple hours ago with people clinging to it. I will be on the Pride next month on 14th.

  2. I remember on one cruise, this very LARGE man got in one of the hot tubs (with much hardship), bucket of beer on the side. Hubby and I were nearby for the whole sea day.

He never ONCE got out of the hot tub to go to the mens room. Really? We never go in the hot tubs or pools.

Maybie he has a VERY LARGE Bladder.... :D. Joking aside.. I know what you mean... How can anybody sit in one for several hours at a time anyways... I know there not really all that "hot" but your skin would look like a prune after being in hottub that long...

  3. hi any bets on what time the pride will leave the dock from tampa on the 30th of nov. 4-5-6-7-8-9- what is your guess?

Who Cares what time it leaves Once your on it.. That has no effect what I do on the ship the first day. I will still enjoy my first day whether it leaves on time or 4 hours later... Only Issue I would have if it came back EARLY... If it came back late.. WHO CARES... That means longer vacation on ship, and my Vehicle will still be waiting for me at the parking area...

  4. It's about respecting others rights. Noise in the hallway or in a room is not acceptable. On a cruise ship or a hotel. However your post only helps with the bad image of Carnival as being the party boat and walmart of the seas!

Carnival somehow attracts a different class of people, exspecially on shorter cruises. Its also funny how this is the only Message board (Carnival) that the moderator has the topic "Clean it up" listed in the "sticky" section.... Not a problem with the other ship topic boards.. Makes you wonder....

Im also a Veteran Carnival cruiser with 12 and one booked for Dec,and been on 25 cruises total, but I don't act like these so called "wal mart" Passengers and disrespect others in the hallways and near Cabin doorways.

You could always book on Holland America. LOL. There ships "shut down" by 10 pm anyhow...

  5. Like others have said.... the "proper" way is just wearing a towel. Its not Co ed. the Male and female locker rooms have there own separate steam and saunas and showers and changing areas. Just swap out your SS card for a locker key at the spa desk. When your done, just give the key back for your SS card. There is NO charge for this service.

  6. I had one on the Dream, same class of ship. It was on deck 7. I think it was 7458. It had the sofa and king bed, lounger and table and regular chair. No problem with soot or noise. It overlooks Deck 5 which goes all way around ship. But you still have a good view. It was 3 decks down from the aft lido pool and buffet area. However its a very long walk to the bow of the ship.. LOL.

  7. As ive only been on Royal one time (on the Independence). I see your comparing a older Royal ship to the new ones of carnival. Of course the older smaller ships aren't going to have the same venues as the bigger newer ones that carnival has. Im platinum with carnival and have one booked on the Pride in Dec. But the Newer RC ships are better Décor wise and with fresh water pools. But I don't care to sail on the Oasis or Allure any time soon.

  8. I stayed in a JR suite on the fantasy and Inspiration. Most ive heard from this site don't like them, think there a rip off pricewise due to the size of the balcony (very small). However, on that class of ship, if you compare those cabins to the other ones like OV and INsides, they are slightly bigger and they have nice décor on the walls. But they are same size cabin wise as of on the newer ships with regular balconies. Bathrooms are same size and have same stand up shower, no tub. I like the JR suites because they are located foreward and away from the main traffic and in areas of ship that are more quiet. a few of them are right under the gym area and you may hear noise from the treadmills or weights from above from the cabins numbered V01-V06. The higher number cabins are more under the locker room and spa areas. I I ever sail on that class of ship, I always book those cabins. I feel the "add on" balconies of that class of ship are a rip off due to the way they look and they didn't add a large picture window next to the door that goes out to the balconies like on the JR suites, etc. which makes the cabin look "small". Those cabins were OV with a balcony added.

At the time the Fantasy Class was built, there wasn't any balcony rooms like on the newer ships since none of them were built yet. So those cabins were considered "JR" suites since they were a slight upgrade from the OV cabins and downgrade from the GS "grand Suite" from that same class of ship.

  9. I agree with everyone. I would rather spend another day at sea then spend one in Freeport. Carnival needs to find better ports even if they have to make more by on their own. If they built another like grand turk everyone would be happy. HAPPY SAILING!!

Just treat it like a sea day and don't go ashore. Plenty of chairs, no lines for food, pools wide open, gym deserted. Best sea day ever is staying onboard while the ship is in port. Port days are only time I can get food from the Montgolion wok without the long lines.

  10. I Think I would pick the pride, it's getting the 2.0 upgrades. We would be looking at Nov 2015, but does it have heated or covered pools for that time of year?

When are they getting the upgrades? I will be on her in dec 2014.

None of the ships have heated pools unless its going to Alaska. At least all the ones ive been on. which is several.

  12. How about no Speedos by hairy men, hairless men, men over 12? Has this been covered? Or barely as the case may be.

Since Im a Speedo wearer and I like to defend the topic, So we have a "age" limit for Speedos now? Im 51 and I have all my hair in the correct places and not in others. which means im lucky to be "smooth" and still have a swimmers body.

Plus im not bragging or anything, but I spend time in the gym and I look better then most women younger then me wearing Bikinis.

As far as the body hair goes... What difference does it make if the guy has on regular trunks or a speedo? The same amount of hair can be seen except more on the upper thighs in the case of the speedo. In todays Society I figured why on guys they have to wear there shorts below the knees... I guess now that the leg above the knee is considered a "sex organ" and mandatory that it stays covered in all cases.

Last time I looked, my "sex organs" are in the same place where God put them over 51 yrs ago. So I will continue to wear my Speedos until further notice.... LOL.

  13. I was wondering the same thing! Maybe he's scared of pirates? In all my years traveling / cruising, I have never once thought about leaving the light on for security reasons.... esp on a ship balcony. A lame excuse for being inconsiderate.

Though, if Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp wanted to climb over my balcony railing.... they wouldn't need to break in, I'd throw them a rope!

You can still crawl around the dividers between the 2 cabins. Expecialy the ones on the back of the ship where the rails slope allowing more room.

That is the reason why everytime you come back to your cabin after its been cleaned and you find the balcony door locked from the inside with the small latch. On one cruise I and a friends had aft balcony cabins next door to each other. To be funny, my friend decided to climb over the rail onto my balcony from his. This was on the Victory. So yes.. It can be done if someone decides they want to do it.

  14. Interesting. This show reminded me of the Love Boat episodes. Hilarious, as I remember them. The cruise director had a clipboard and checked off your name as you arrived? Can you imagine? Everyone knew your name too, from the Captain to the bartender. Too funny.

REALLY?? Its HOLLYWOOD... They only spotlighted a small handful of people in that show. Not 1,200- 2000 like reality... LOL.
