  1. When I was 24 years old, I was working full time putting myself through a major college. I am sure I could have handled a 14yo in an emergency.

Also married 24 years old have kids, and seem to travel with said kids, without the need for more "adult" supervision.

I do not understand your concern.

If this was my situation I would not hesitate to leave MY 14yo SON with his older brother. But OP is obviously responsible for her nephew who is a minor child not her own. The Puts a different spin on things.

  2. Do all ships have the Mini-Bar in-stateroom beverage order form? If so you can order a six pack of canned sodas for $12 plus gratuity. Along with ordering water, energy drinks and Minute Maid juice to be delivered to your room. I believe this is still available. Still expensive but about half the cost of buying individually in a lounge.

  3. We have stayed in both cabins on Srerenade. We prefer 9260 because occasionally you hear noise from Windjammer in 1102.

Thanks. He thought it would be nice to sit on the sofa and watch the wake. Reminded him we have HUGE balcony with loungers and he can sit inside, I’ll smile at him from outside. With the great views off the back of the ship, I’ll put up with a little noise from the WJ. Decided to leave well enough alone and stick with 1102.

Thanks for all the quick responses. Happy cruising everyone!

  4. This is by far the best review I have read on CC. Makes me want to leave DH at the dock and solo cruise. Almost. Maybe not, he usually pays. I did cruise once without him. Went with my sister and her hubby. Not quite the same as solo cruising but loved doing things I wanted that he wouldn’t enjoy. Thanks for letting me live vicariously thru your journey.

  5. we are currently booked in 1102 on Serenade in September to Canada & New England. Noticed 9260 is now available. DH is grumbling because our cabin has bed by the balcony door. I’m thinking 9260 has sofa by the balcony but can’t access any photos. I’m I correct? Other than sofa/bed configuration, is there a discernible difference between the rooms. Just concerned that it opened this close to final payment. Opinions please.

  6. On our two week cruise/land tour to Alaska many years ago the porters put a three-corner tear in my new HUGE rolling duffle. I was told to purchase a new piece of luggage at our first port and turn the receipt in to the service desk for reimbursement. Not many places close to port in Juneau that sold luggage. They sent me to the store on board and gave me a very small replacement that was no way large enough for our land tour. They took my bag the first night to “repair” the bag and they delivered it to me the last night on board. They duct taped the tear. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Good luck. Hope you have better luck than I did.

  7. I have a Signature Visa CC (not an RCI card) that I have accrued many reward points and would like to use some on my next cruise. They will have my name inbedded on them. I would likely set up a cash account and then use them to payoff the charges at CS at end of cruise. Has anyone had experience using these type cards? If there is already a thread, please direct me to it. TIA
