  1. All things being equal plan for first sea day and last to be on the cold side.

We were on the pride reposition cruise end of March and last sea day started at about 60 and by the evening down to 30 and next morning when docking was 22.

We do not plan to ever cruise out of a cold weather port during hte winter in the future.

dang, you beat me to posting this... :)

and just for added info, that last sea day, the lido buffet area was SRO for the entire day. And we even saw a snow squall in the mid afternoon. And this was the end of March.

if you are in the sun with no wind exposure, a 60 degree day can be warm enough to sun. But if you are in the wind, with the ship doing 20 knots, it WILL be cold.

  2. Hi Snc_cam :)

A passenger can email FTTF @ FTTFinfo@carnival.com (to be considered) for a wait list so they can be added to the FTTF manifest manually. If accepted/approved, when they arrive at the cruise terminal their name will be on the FTTF manifest for the (head porter) & at the (check-in counter).

If added to the manifest, when arriving at the terminal, the passenger then requests to see the head porter & he or she will place the orange FTTF stickers onto the luggage.

If your name is manually added to the manifest it will appear on the manifest at the check-in counter also.

    (Important Note)

Emailing the FTTF department at Carnival (does not) automatically put a passenger on the manifest, the FTTF department merely can assist you in regards to getting on a the manifest manually (when possible). Some passengers are considered right away and added, some are told no right away, and some are placed onto a wait list for possible consideration.

Also, If the FTTF department is able to assist a passenger & manually place them on the FTTF manifest, they do not charge your credit card, it is added to your Sail & Sign ship bill once onboard your sailing.

Your luggage tags will not have the FTTF logo on them and your boarding pass will not reflect the FTTF either, but your name will certainly be on the manifest if approved/accepted to be manually added by the FTTF department.

    Have a terrific day!

    :)

    thanks for the info :)

  3. FttF was sold out on our ship. But I learned about how to get on the waiting list from a thread here on CC! I was able to get on the FttF waiting list by sending an email with my booking #, ship and date of sailing to FttFinfo@carnival.com

They responded that they would let me know if space opened up, once they knew how many platinum / other VIP folks were on the ship.

I just got the email this morning, and our sailing is Sunday.

Thanks to my CC peeps for the info! Hopefully we'll get our dining time changed...

Great, now you tell me this... since after the upcoming cruise, I won't need to purchase it any longer (unless they change the Platinum policy). :)

Hope you enjoy it and good luck with the dining switch!!!

  4. Be aware that OBCs don't always show up anywhere. The OBCs through my TA showed up in the cruise documents right after the invoice. OBCs directly from Carnival price reductions almost never show up until on board on the online account or kiosk.

Whenever I get a price drop from ES price match, the OBC shows up almost immediately after getting notified by Carnival that it has been approved. And I track this on each price drop because sometimes the OBCs get "lost" until I call carnival and get them put back on. The only OBCs I know of that aren't shown until after checkin are the ones from a TA.

  5. I just got the email that FttF has been manually added to our booking. Yay! My question is whether this may increase our chances of changing from late dining to early or YTD?

Thanks for letting me know if you've had this perk help out with changing dining times. Late is too late for us...

I'm wondering how you got it manually added since it is first come/first serve on the excursions website for your cruise. But either way, congrats...

I am pretty sure FTTF does not change your chances of switching dining times. I think it may get you up to the Maitre D' faster. I am sure others will know this. If you can't get it fixed on the first day, try again on the 2nd since things may have settled down by then and most people switching will be done on the first day, so some additional slots may open for ED or YTD.

  6. According to my TA, I will be getting a OBC due to price reductions, I booked ES. Is there away to tell if OBC is there before I cruise? I've checked my booking on Carnival site, but I am not sure were to look. I sail in two weeks.

If you can get to your booking on the carnival website, go into the cruise details for the booking. Then select "Print My Documents". Scroll through the PDF that is displayed a few pages. OBCs are listed after the page with the cruise itinerary and price breakout.

  7. There's a weight limit on cruises for your suitcases now? Oh boy, I'm in trouble. I last cruised in 2010...so I wasn't aware of this. What's the limit - 50 pounds per suitcase?

my assumption is that mousey flies into the port area and the weight limit is on airlines. I am sure there is a weight limit at the port but there are no scales. Please remember that porters have to lift your bags as well.

  8. We don't currently own stock in Carnival but have decided to purchase 100 shares. I'm waiting to see if the stock price drops a little in Sept/Oct. We are going on a cruise late in Oct. Is there a certain amount of time you need to own the stocks before you can receive OBC?

I have seen a comment or two for people who have done it the week of the cruise. I personally give it a few months but you should be good with a 2-week window.

  9. For $5, maybe rent snorkel equipment. I bought my own, and I think the mask was under $100, similar amount for fins, snorkel maybe $20. I do know that any tour you might take that involves snorkeling will have all the necessary equipment. In those cases, many people bring their own snorkel since it goes in their mouths and they may not want to risk the snorkel tour group's sterilization procedures.

If I am doing a snorkel excursion, I will take just mask and snorkel (I purchased a camera mask a year ago and love it) and not carry my fins which are bulky. But if I am doing a snorkel on my own, I will also carry my fins

  10. I think I now understand how to look on Fareviewer but I booked on the phone through a Carnival PVP and am not sure how to do a "mock booking". Do I just sign on to the Carnival.com opening page and find my sailing and go from there or do I need to check their "deals" page and work from a link on Military Discounts?

Yes, you would go to the Carnival website and PLAN a cruise. On the bottom of the first page, there is a space to select past guest, military/special offer, senior. So check each of those and continue to work towards booking a cruise.

  11. I have booked a 6D (or maybe it was a 6A) on the Valor sailing out of Port Canaveral on 13 February using Early Saver and I can't figure out how to monitor the price drops. Hoping someone can give me guidance...

I just do a mock booking using the Carnival website. I go through the same steps as I would for booking a cruise, getting to the point where I would select a cabin on the same deck and position (aft, midship, fwd). At this point, I would compare the cost of the cruise to what I paid, and if less, then I would apply for the price drop

  12. this is a good point and I have put down more then one cruise that I had booked on one paper and had to re submit the second one as it got closer so if you did not get it resubmit

I'm not sure why you had to do this. I have a cruise in Sept and one in Feb. I submitted the form in early July for both cruises and both were accepted.

  13. If you research beforehand and have a cruise that you're definite on, I would book on board just to get the OBC.

Agree with all about doing the research up front. When I do this, I gather the following information:

ship, sail date, rate type (Early Saver, Past Guest, etc), deck, cabin, cost.

Basically you want to do a booking through the website and take all of that information on board with you so you can get the additional OBC. There are also internet computers onboard that you can use for the research or you can use the carnival wifi to get to the carnival website from your laptop, phone, or tablet at no cost

  14. ok great so if i were to get a FTTF

what time would we all be allowed to board on first day?

what time you think cabin will be ready? as well have the cabins been already nice and clean too.

would Carnival at front desk check in, if i had FTTF would they tell me if my cabin is already ready? or do i just go there once i board? thanks

It depends on when they start boarding. But generally with FTTF, you are onboard by 1130. Your cabin will be ready when you board, you don't need to go to the GS desk. So you can go there on your own.

  15. Just booked 2 cruises with Carnival . I noticed they offer a "Faster to the Fun" option, is it worth it and does the cruise live up to its standards?

as having your cabin ready faster? getting first to a tender etc?

You will find many opinions regarding this and it really is a personal choice. We have purchased it for each of our cruises since it came out. We like getting on early and having the room ready where we can toss our carryons and not carry them around until 1:30. We have also used the priority Guest Services area as well as having the ability to get off the ship quicker so we can get back home and settle in prior to have to getting back to the daily grind.

The tender issue is only for a small handful of ports and you need to get off the ship quicker.

Fortunately, the upcoming Sept cruise will be the last time we need FTTF (unless they change the VIFP "grouping" policy) since we will be Platinum after this cruise.

Good luck. I hope you find the answers you seek for this.

    Steve

  16. All taxes and fees are bundled into one line on the online profile.

I always prepay tips too, Rather just get it out of the way so all I'm charged for on the cruise is what I buy... and drink.

I used to prepay my tips but now with getting the shareholder obc and usually the onboard booking obc, I use this for the tips instead.
