I was not asked for insurance information when I registered for the vaccine.  When I arrived they asked for my red, white, and blue Medicare card.   I get my insurance through the teachers' retirement system and they go through Aetna.   I was told to put the RWB card away and never use it because if I did, I would be kicked out of the system's Aetna plan and would be on my own.   I told this to the girl at the pharmacy and she insisted they needed the RWB card to charge Medicare Part B.  I explained that they could charge Medicare Part B with the Aetna information, but she wouldn't take it.  I asked why they were charging for it since it was Moderna, paid for with taxpayer money, so I had already paid for it.  She said they really didn't charge, but needed the Medicare Part B information.  No claim has come through on my insurance, so who knows what they are doing.  I'm not sure they do.

On the Medicare.gov site it does say you need to bring and show your R/W/B Medicare card when you go for the covid vaccine even if you have Medicare Advantage.  I didn't really understand why.

  2. Thank you Rich for keeping track of the ships and Roy for keeping the lists. Thank you all for the photos, recipes, stories and advice. In our neighborhood last night the fireworks went from 7pm to 1am  pretty much non-stop. I'm sure there will be more tonight. When I was a child my mom made lentil soup, using the bone from the fresh ham we had on Christmas, for New Year's Day. She would add slices of sausage or hotdogs. That wouldn't work for my DH who is a pescatarian, so he will be making a red lentil dal for our dinner today.😊

    Happy New Year to all!

It has been an interesting couple of days with the cat FKA Cleo. Monday evening I noticed Cleo favoring the right fore paw. Then yesterday, hopping with no pressure on it at all. A friend came over around 5pm to examine and found a bite on that leg which prompted a vet visit this morning. Shortly after the visit began I got a call that the bite was infected, but not bad. The vet also let us know that we had a four (ish) year old neutered male cat. It seems that the coloring made the cat look female. So we are now pondering a new name. It may still be Cleo, since the cat doesn't care.

While at the vet, a full round of tests was performed and cat was pronounced very healthy and it appears that he has been well taken care of.

Thank you Rich for all your work on the Daily. I think you could still use Cleo. It could be short for Cleophus? (the male counter to Cleopatra).

I looked that up from yesterday but it didn’t give measurements. Thanks Fred.

Could not find the exact recipe but my DH thinks it is  a take off on the Gold Rush Cocktail.

All the man I need (maybe):

    Ingredients

    1 ounce bourbon whiskey

    1 1/2 ounces ginger liqueur

    1/2 ounce homemade sour mix

    Fresh Mint

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake wellStrain into a chilled cocktail glass.

    Gold Rush:

    1 ounce bourbon whiskey

    1 1/2 ounces ginger liqueur

    1/2 ounce lemon juice (fresh)

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake wellStrain into a chilled cocktail glass.

I have never had either and we don't have any bourbon in the house so someone else will need to try this😁

Good Monday morning.  I think we all need to meet up on a public land, enjoy a beer and be good neighbors!  The quote sums up someones whole life.  I'm happy I loved what I did.

We'll pass on the meal, had pasta last night.

I could not find a recipe for the Rolling in the Deep drink.

Jacqui, that cartoon is wonderful.  A great laugh.

Stay safe, social distance, and wear your mask.

Hi Summer slope, found this on HAL website: Rolling in the deep  INGREDIENTS: 1.5 oz Jim Beam Red Stag Bourbon; 1 oz Campari; .5 oz Sweet Vermouth. Combine all ingredients; Shake; Strain into glass with ice; Add orange wheel for garnish.

    Roy,

Thanks for including us in your prayers, we certainly need them! We try to keep our sense of humor, it can be a very funny disease if you like to go hunting daily for things. I could also use a cabin steward about now!

This brought back memories. I once spent a couple of hours searching for my DM dentures. I found them in a kitchen drawer, which seemed to make a lot of sense really. Fortunately I love puzzles and a sense of humor does help🙂

Yowza. Just had a heavy downfall, could hardly see my new sweet little magnolia and our little hummer was trapped on our patio! Our new little plants popped right back up. It looks like it's going to rain buckets, but the forecast says later?

If it's like some FL hurricanes you'll get bands of rain which might not last long and tomorrow hopefully will be nice and  clear with a lot  less humidity.

Cat we love Key West! DH was there for 2 weeks on business and we stayed at the Double Tree. I would take their shuttle into town daily and walked all over and do the little train also! I found a restaurant called

    The Conch Republic Seafood restaurant!!

Right on the water! Great food. Now there was a small KeyLime our shop across from the restaurant and a man would be in a costume standing out front serving samples! I just can’t remember the name of the place, but a lot of people going in and out!👍

    You’ll be there soon!

Have a good day and also Bindi too!

    Denise😊

Probably Kermit's Key West Key Lime  Shoppe, I miss it too!

:classic_ohmy:  I did not!  (We never sat on that side of the Crows Nest.) If you tell me it was James Holzhauer I will kill myself.

No. It was Alex Jacob and the piano player was Hyperion Knight.

Okay, I’ll bite (on an old thread).  In December the piano player kept winning (Koningsdam).  The same piano player who was on a different ship in September (Zuiderdam).  While I think it’s great that he wants to play, I don’t think he should have been allowed to compete.

We were on the same Koningsdam cruise with you. Did you notice one of the piano player's team mates was a Jeopardy champion?

  11. Cabin 4221 is a Vista Suite not a Verandah cabin although they look similar, you do not get double mariner points for a verandah cabin.  In the veranda the sofa/love set is against the balcony. We have had an aft verandah several times on the Koningsdam. We like the room/storage/balcony. Although the balcony is not huge we sit there and read, drink wine/tea, snack and relax. We like to see the wake and sea life (usually dolphins). The aft is also good because you don't get the wind that the starboard or port side cabins get even on sea days. Just be aware that the Koningsdam inside cabins are small unlike the older ships. My understanding is that there is no sofa or even a chair. That being said I know people who spend the entire cruise at the pool deck so the small room doesn't bother them.

  12. My DH and I just got off the Koningsdam. It was our 2nd time on her, our 11th on HAL. I would agree to try the Grand Dutch Cafe, there is a charge for the specialty drinks but the food is free and good. Check out the Crows Nest at the front of the ship, Explorations cafe is there (same goes for specialty drinks and food) and the room itself has comfortable chairs for reading and day dreaming. There is also a bar at the Crows nest and the staff (Rolando, Norgee, Rico and Jonathan) are excellent & fun. We really liked the Rolling Stone Rock Room Band (there are snacks in Billboard @ night until 8pm) and the piano player in the Ocean Bar. Trivia with Warren and Thomas was also fun if you like trivia. I would do the Pinnacle grill over Tamarind. They changed the menu and we were not impressed. The # for specialty dining reservations is 88. I hope you have a great time and have a Happy New Year!
