On both segments of this cruise - I’ve seen a lot of this:

trays left in the hallways.  I just don’t get doing that - there is a little table in the room.  Why not call to have it picked up and leave it there?

But, what I did notice was this:

paper cups for coffee?  When DH and I did room service (usually on an early port day) we always had real coffee cups.  This is a new one, for me.

Kazu, we noticed the trays on the Rotterdam in Nov. then realized it was the cabins with covid, so it made more sense. Although considering all the scooters and walkers it still seemed like a safety issue.

  2. @RedneckBob, @MISTER 67, @cunnorl, @cat shepard, @summer slope and all in the path of Ian, praying you stay safe.  We are in Melbourne, FL, but on the mainland and the rain & wind have started here, along with flickering lights. We have a lot of oak trees, two have at least 40ft canopy's. One in the front yard one in the back, and their branches are dancing already.

@dfishvery happy for you! The house & yard look lovely. We were suppose to go house hunt in Ann Arbor next week to be by family. We'll see if that happens.

    Take care all!

Ann she's in downtown Tampa in an apartment on Fletcher across the street from University of South Florida Tampa.  I'm wondering if she has to evacuate?  I haven't bothered her, but her Mom is in contact with her.  The apartment is on the 4th floor but the parking lot could flood.  I wish she had a relative inland in Florida to evacuate to!  I imagine the highways are jammed.  She could come here but we are about 420 miles away.  How do you look up evacuation zone info for an address?

Go to Hillsborough County FL webpage you can get to "Find your evacuation zone" there. Most of Fletcher looks okay but if you put in her address you can see.

Good morning, all! Happy Yom Kippur to those who observe it. I wore a hat today, but I don’t make them. The meals sound wonderful, both Rich’s pick and Roy’s alternate.
DH and I are heading out to the Okanagan shortly. We’re visiting my DS and BIL while our cousin from Ontario is there. I’ll keep this brief, and just post the latest progress picture of the banana plant. It’s not getting taller any more, just wider ( rather like myself😉).

And some earlier pics for reference.3580EA7A-78BE-485C-AAB2-FD03C08CC86B.thumb.jpeg.aff32e2385cd0af6f8c4debe421d5594.jpeg

I have been told the side plants are called pups. Our neighbor planted one from his tree in our backyard (the jungle) for us a few years ago. No bananas from ours yet, but the freezer is full of bananas from his trees he gave us. We couldn't eat them fast enough. Banana bread anyone? I am very impressed with the size of your tree in BC.

Maybe, We have lots of squirrels on this tree lined street. But I also saw a deer twice in my yard in the last 2 weeks; never had I seen that before. Unfortunately I had turned off my outside cameras when I was mowing the lawn yesterday and forgot to turn them on last evening. That's how I saw the deer.

We have accepted we have to share with the squirrels, half for us, half for them. They usually like the green tomatoes. I cover the green tomatoes with aluminum foil with a small hole in the bottom to drain the rain off or put the foil on sideways. Then I check them and as soon as the tomatoes start to turn I bring them in to ripen. Our deer just trim the tomato bushes. We hang old computer discs to scare them off. We have to wait for Nov for our tomato season to begin.

Thank you @cat shepardfor posting of your Iceland trip, it looks wonderful. Thank you everyone else that posts. Praying for those in need and raising a glass to those celebrating.

Good Morning Everyone from a warm and sunny day at the beach.

I have always loved swimming pools and have been fortunate to have one most of my adult life. My DD loves to be in the pool and it is great therapy for her. Loneliness is a very sad thing. I know that after my DD was diagnosed several years ago, I was very lonely and isolated. It was a terrible time. That is behind us, but I try to be very aware of others that may be going thru the same thing.

Have not been to todays port and am looking forward to pictures.

This morning there are 15 fishing boats right off the beach. Dont know what is running today but I wont be going in the ocean thats for sure!

    Stay safe and enjoy today

It is mini red snapper season. I think it is for only three days.

Thanks to the posters. Prayers for the care list and congrats for those celebrating.

I was wondering if erewhon is on a trip? I haven't noticed a post in about a week.

    Thanks to all.

The air show in Fl where we use to live drove me nuts.  They would be there days before (I think the Blue Angels) and be flying over our home for a few days.  One time they came so close over the condo I could see all bottom of the plane so clear.  We lived not far from you in Indian Harbour Beach.   They were so loud.  Nice to watch, but I always prayed for their safety.

Yes it was from the Cocoa Air Show. He landed in the water by Patrick Air Force (sorry Space Force) Base. They were very lucky no one was hurt, as there were a lot of people on the beach and in the water. You would not be happy as we live just west of Indian Harbor Beach on the main land and besides the planes we have had helicopters flying over head for three days every four to five minutes. I timed them yesterday. They are flying right above the trees. I am not sure if it is because of the air show or has something to do with the crew rocket launch later this week. And yes they can be very loud at times.

Good Morning Everyone from a warm and cloudy day at the beach.

Interesting quote. Been to England but not Liverpool.

This weekend will be interesting here. The big Air show will be taking place. Although I do enjoy air shows, not sure I agree it should be held now. So we have gathered all supplies and will stay put. Not going to venture out. Just tooo many people. We can watch safely from our patio. Just look up!

Off to water aerobics this am, then home.

    Stay safe and enjoy today

The Air Force was practicing for the show over our house Tuesday and again this morning. Very noisy! I hope it's not too crowded out as  DH is going for his second shot. We should probably stop at the hardware store for a short fence. An armadillo has found one of our veggie beds. We have nicknamed him Roto(tiller). He has dug everything up several nights now. Fortunately he hasn't climbed into the raised beds yet or maybe he can't? Between the armadillos, deer, squirrels, birds, rabbits and lizards it's a wonder we get anything out of the garden, which because of the shade from trees is very small.

Thank you Rich for the Daily, Roy for the lists (I'm praying you find a solution to your heart issues), and all who contribute.
