  1. I have written letters to Princess after several of our cruises with both praise and criticisms. I've always received a reply. I just feel they should appreciate critiques of their cruises.

As a matter of fact I just wrote one today telling them how much we appreciated the help we got when I fell, broke my ankle and needed surgery in Hawaii. They helped my husband getting packed and off the ship and kept in touch while I was in the hospital and when I returned home. In addition to criticism I think they appreciate when they do receive compliments.

I hope your problems get resolved in a timely manner.

  2. We purchased our insurance, as we always do, through our TA. I think there are different levels of insurance and of course different companies. We're very fortunate that our TA is careful about coverage. I would tell you the name of the company, but I don't think that's allowed on this website. Just be sure to check with your TA or cruise line about the insurance you purchase.

SassyRedHat: We thoroughly enjoyed our Hawaiian cruise on the Ruby (this was our second 15 day cruise to Hawaii). The crew was great, the food was good and as I said before Princess took good care of my 80 yr old husband in getting packed and off the ship. There was only about 1 hour between him getting back to the ship, packing and the ships departure.

I'm doing fine now, out of the boot, just about out of the brace, no more wheelchair, walker and only use the cane when I'm on uneven ground. We have a cruise scheduled for the end of Sept. so I have to be in fairly good form by then.

Thank you for your good wished.

Thanks for your answer. I will contact my TA, but if it's not in the cabin I will talk to the cabin steward. They are always very helpful so I don't foresee any problem. In the event I don't get the distilled water I'm sure for one week I can use bottled water.

    Again, thanks.

  4. On our Ruby Princess cruise to and from Hawaii I fell on a tour in Kawaii, fractured my ankle that required surgery in Hawaii. The crew on the Ruby were very helpful to my husband with the paperwork, packing and debarking of the ship to the hospital where I was for my surgery. They repeatedly checked on us while in Hawaii. It was much appreciated.

Also, I would definitely tell all cruise travelers to purchase insurance. The insurance company we had were extremely helpful and paid us promptly with no problems.

Princess really came through to us when we needed them and I won't forget it.

  5. When cruising on Princess I always have distilled water delivered to our cabin. Does Carnival provide distilled water for c-pap machines? I guess I'll be calling my TA tomorrow about this. I couldn't find anything on the Carnival website that they would provide this. Since we're flying in I wouldn't be able to bring it aboard myself.

  6. Thinking of sailing on the Splendor in Sept. I'm a new traveler with a c-pap machine. I will definiitely take an extension cord. But my question is how far is the electrical outlet from the bed in the inside cabin and the balcony cabin? I don't mind using an extension cord, but I don't want my husband or myself to trip on it if we have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Just came back from a Princess cruise in a mini suite and there was not problem since the outlet was right next to the bed.

I know this sounds like a small problem but I sure would appreciate an answer.

  7. We're staying at the Best Western Plus on Gaffney. I've talked to the people at the desk there and they seem very helpful. There's a shuttle to the port which we need since we're flying to LA. It seems to have good revues on Trip Advisor and there are at least 3 restaurants nearby -- Whale & Ale, Raffaella Ristorante and San Pedro Brewing.
    Hope we'll all be satisfied.

  8. Thank you too, Paul. I'll have my TA contact Princess, too. I'm new to this c-pap thing and don't want to do the wrong thing. It's enough to have to carry the machine. I didn't want to think about a jug of water too.

We're going to the Panama Canal (11 days) in Dec. and Hawaii (15 days in Apr) so that's a lot of water.

Thanks again to both of you.

  9. Thanks for the website. I enjoyed it. I wonder what ship he was on then. I think I'll give Princess a call and see if they can tell me what ship he will be on. We're sailing on Princess to the Panama Canal in Dec. and to Hawaii in April. I think it was on our last cruise to Hawaii that we saw him.

    Thanks again.

  10. A few years ago we were on a Princess ship and one of the entertainers was a singer named Donnie Abraham. He was a great singer and put on a very good show. Just wonder if anyone knows if he still performs on Princess ships.

  11. We were on the Crown recently for our Alaska cruise. The crew was wonderful and we loved the cruise. Our only complaint was the management of the Horizon buffet. Several times they only opened one side for serving. The lines then were extremely long, which resulted in cold food while looking for seating. Other than that we had a great time and would sail again on the Crown.

Right now though we're booked the Coral for the Panama Canal and the Ruby for Hawaii. Needless to say we do like Princess.

  12. Thanks for your answers. I was hoping we could book ahead because the cruise we're on (May - Alaska) offered complimentary dinners. So it would seem most couples would want to take advantage of the offer. Guess I'll have to go to the restaurant right after boarding. Just hope the line won't be too long.

  13. Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. I was concerned since some of the people are saying it's not a good port. But if we can get a shuttle to that little town it sounds like it would be a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Again, thank you.

  14. I keep watching hoping you would get an answer. That's one of the ports we're visiting in Oct. I've heard it's an interesting town, but I can't find any information on how to get there or how far it is from the port. Please post if you find anything out from another source. I'll do the same.
