Question for you. Can you ask if there’s a bartender named Virgil? We sailed the Allure to the Med & he worked the Rising Tide Bar. I can’t remember where he’s from. He makes the best raspberry mojitos.

Grand Suite on Deck 6...this is a perfect location. Even deck wise, regardless of cabin category. Steps to the boardwalk, one deck down to the promenade, 2 up to Central Park. You can pretty much use the stairs, anywhere from this location, and only use the elevators to go to the pool decks. Unless, of course, you have a foot injury like me. I’m now “that” person who annoys the heck out of everyone taking the elevator up one floor [emoji849]

Totally agree with you on Deck 6. I've sailed the Allure 3x, going back in September and always request Mid-to-Aft cabin. & although I've sailed the Allure 3x, still love learning new things!! Thanks.

Everyone raves about their room service... why?? What's the first thing I should do when I get onboard? Where to eat? Thanks. I'm sailing the Dream on 11/11.

Going solo on Disney Dream on 11/11. Anyone else? This will be my first solo cruise. Any advise?

Floor to ceiling windows all around. Full view forward and off each side. Frequently almost empty. Nice quiet spot for a few early evening beverages. And used several times a day for events and music.
Sounds fabulous!! Thanks.

Haven't been on the Jade yet (will in Dec), but if she is exactly like the other Jewel class ships, we like the Spinnaker lounge deck 13 forward. We love the Great Outdoors, deck 12 rear, for breakfast and snacks or just sitting. And if it's still there, bridge viewing room deck 11, port side, all the way forward. For us, Jewel class ships are our favorite.
What do you like about the Spinnaker??

Right by shakers martini bar on bar row there s the piano, it's not a separate room but this is where the piano entertainment takes place

Is it a single-along piano bar?

I'm sailing the Jade on the March 6, 2017 sailing. I normally sail on RCCL but trying NCL due to pricing. There's 8 of us traveling... Can we make reservations in the free dining venues? How does the "free style" work? Thanks.

New to Disney & was wondering if I should book my spa treatment now or do they offer specials while on the ship. Thanks.

An alternative would be to stay at a hotel near MCO the night before. They usually have a free shuttle between them and MCO. Then use the DCL bus for transfer from MCO to the ship.

Great idea. Thanks.

I found a site for fly, snooze & cruise which has some really good rates.

Have you checked whether the hotel has a shuttle?
Beyond that, a rental car might be the most cost effective method. A taxi will cost around $100-$150.
WOW. I'll check with the hotel. Thanks.

If you're flying in a day prior to the cruise & staying in a hotel in Port Canaveral what's the best way to get to the hotel from Orlando airport.

Astoria isn't the best for whale watching. It would be in the open ocean with no guarantee of smooth seas. This area can have some big waves. It's also not optimal season for gray whale migration and spottings. I'm not aware of orcas in the Astoria area.
If you have extra time in the Seattle area, Mystic Sea Charters does great day whale tours out of Anacortes. We've used them several times. There are resident Orca pods in northern Puget Sound and NW coastal waters. (also calmer seas, more seals and eagles)
Thanks for the info but I put in the wrong city. I should have said Victoria BC. Any advise here?

I'm cruising to Astoria on the Explorer in September and was wondering if anyone has taken a whale watching tour. RCCL offers a tour. What are everyone's thoughts.
Thanks.

Not to my knowledge, but the coordinates of the key sites are readily found online, so with a hire car you could DIY a tour - but personally I'd just visit the Oregon Film Museum to see the many exhibits, especially since the biggest draw (the Goonies house) is now no longer accepting visitors on the street, let alone their actual property (they went so far as to hang tarps to block views from the street at one point). It can be seen from a distance of course.
Thanks for the info. We do plan on stopping at the museum.

No tours but the Oregon Film Museum is located in Astoria. The museum building was the old county jail. They would have info on the film and can direct you to the filming locations in the area.
Hope this helps, Steve
Thanks Steve. We'll check that out.
