  1. Grand Suite on Deck 6...this is a perfect location. Even deck wise, regardless of cabin category. Steps to the boardwalk, one deck down to the promenade, 2 up to Central Park. You can pretty much use the stairs, anywhere from this location, and only use the elevators to go to the pool decks. Unless, of course, you have a foot injury like me. I’m now “that” person who annoys the heck out of everyone taking the elevator up one floor [emoji849]

Totally agree with you on Deck 6. I've sailed the Allure 3x, going back in September and always request Mid-to-Aft cabin. & although I've sailed the Allure 3x, still love learning new things!! Thanks.

  2. Haven't been on the Jade yet (will in Dec), but if she is exactly like the other Jewel class ships, we like the Spinnaker lounge deck 13 forward. We love the Great Outdoors, deck 12 rear, for breakfast and snacks or just sitting. And if it's still there, bridge viewing room deck 11, port side, all the way forward. For us, Jewel class ships are our favorite.

What do you like about the Spinnaker??

  3. Astoria isn't the best for whale watching. It would be in the open ocean with no guarantee of smooth seas. This area can have some big waves. It's also not optimal season for gray whale migration and spottings. I'm not aware of orcas in the Astoria area.

If you have extra time in the Seattle area, Mystic Sea Charters does great day whale tours out of Anacortes. We've used them several times. There are resident Orca pods in northern Puget Sound and NW coastal waters. (also calmer seas, more seals and eagles)

Thanks for the info but I put in the wrong city. I should have said Victoria BC. Any advise here?

  4. Not to my knowledge, but the coordinates of the key sites are readily found online, so with a hire car you could DIY a tour - but personally I'd just visit the Oregon Film Museum to see the many exhibits, especially since the biggest draw (the Goonies house) is now no longer accepting visitors on the street, let alone their actual property (they went so far as to hang tarps to block views from the street at one point). It can be seen from a distance of course.

Thanks for the info. We do plan on stopping at the museum.
