  1. I am starting to worry about weight gain on the cruise. I know some weight gain is inevitable. But I keep hearing horror stories of 15lbs+ gained. I do plan on walking a lot, using the gym, no elevators, dancing. But I know I will drink (rum and diet coke with a few margaritas thrown in) and probably try the warm chocolate melting cake.

What do you all do to limit your weight gain?

  2. I wear flip-flops all summer! Comfortable ones can be walked in for hours! Unless you're hiking in rough terrain, there's no reason you can wear flip-flops into ports, for shopping or sightseeing! I bring shoes for evening (heels) and in the past, I've brought other casual shoes, but tend to stay in the flip-flops!

Me too! And if my feet didn't get so cold, I would wear them in the winter. Almost all of flips-flops are perfect for walking around in. I find tennis shoes to be more uncomfortable for long periods of time. I think my feet just love being free. ;)

  3. Amazon! Love Amazon!

My first cruise is in May. I really have not bought much. I bought dresses for the 2 formal nights and 1 summery dress. I plan on buying one more pair of shorts because I am losing weight. And I need to buy some sandals, but it's mostly because my sandals are worn out. Everything I have bought can be used in my "real everyday life." I have heeded the CC warnings to not buy "cruise clothes"

  4. I put together my spreadsheet! :D I have all my clothing listed by day as well as in a packing list. I only need to buy another pair of shorts (not enough) and some sandals (old ones NEED to be replaced). I already bought my formal dresses. Everything else is already in my closet.

BTW - my cruise is a little less than 4 months off. I am a serious planner. LOL!

  5. Pinterest has some great workouts that do not require a lot of space. I recommend ones that work out specific muscle groups. Hand weights are good because you can keep them under the bed, seat, etc. I have been doing a thigh, arm, and ab workout. You can definitely do these on the bed.

  6. Hey ladies! I'm a new poster on this thread but I've been lurking for a few weeks... I am SO jealous of all your fabulous dresses! I'm going on my first cruise in May (Carnival) and am already searching for dresses. Last summer I lost 40 pounds and one full dress size so nothing I have fits... all the more reason to go shopping, right? :)

I found two dresses this evening that I think are definitely cruise worthy! The first is a casual gray dress from Dress Barn that I got for FREE thanks to a coupon! I'm not a fan of the belt so I plan on changing it, as it's just a piece of ribbon. Also, the sleeves are open on the sides so they will fall down and not have the butterfly effect you see in the pic... didn't get a picture of them laying "normal." I thought this dress would be great for casual dinners. It's prettier in person.

And then I found this beauty at TJ Maxx! It's Lauren by Ralph Lauren and I think it will be great for our two formal nights with different accessories. I've been wanting a chiffon maxi dress and refused to pay $100+ for one but I found this one for $40. Score! I think it's a bridesmaid dress but whatever - I love it. It's more of a pinky purple in person but it comes off very cool toned in the pic.

**If the pictures don't work, please let me know. I'm using Photobucket for the first time in a looooong time.**

    Both are very cute!

And LOL...I had to break out my photobucket too. I couldn't even remember the last time I used it.

  7. I am taking the carnival magic on my birthday on 5/4/14- 5/11/14 . I just strongly believe in faceong fears head on since most fears are irrational. Whem was 5 got bit by a hornet and had to go to hosiptal. Got so sick of being afraid of wasps and bees. I went to a honey bee convention and even put on a bee suit and went in one those bee farms. I was terrfied but walked out changed. Hope this cruise helps me conquear fear of getting in the ocean. And be better and stronger for it.

That's awesome! We'll be getting on the Magic right after you get off. =)

  8. You are both doing awesome! I had a great first two weeks but this third week I had some challenges with my health which I was in too much pain to work out. I didn't pig out on carbs or anything but not very balanced with everything so I will be very happy if I even lose a pound this week. I am hoping to lose another 30 before our cruise but I better have some better weeks ahead to hit that. My WI is Friday mornings.

If you stick with Atkins, you will lose weight! You might lose it slowly, but you will lose. Take your measurements too. Many times, you will see a change in measurements before you'll see a drop in the number on the scale. ;)

  9. How's everyone doing on their low carb/Atkins lifestyle? Hope everyone is seeing success. I am focusing on my April cruise to get me through all this awful weather and help me to stay focused!!

Doing great. I have lost about 12lbs in 3 weeks. I am working out and it feels great! My realistic goal for my cruise in May is in the low 140 range. Dream goal weight is is 130-135.

  10. I had NO idea the patch was prescription!! I've heard so many people mention it, I just assumed it would be OTC. Well, you know what they say about assuming. :o

Thanks for the heads up...I'm off to the drugstore to talk to my pharmacist about something OTC that is safe for my 6 year old!

You can give your 6 y/o Children's Benadryl aka diphenhydramine. Not only does it work for allergies, but it also works for motion sickness. I would give it at night though because it tends to cause sleepiness. If you do give Benadryl or any other motion sickness med, make sure to follow the correct dosage or less. Giving too much to children can overly sedate them.

  11. The scopolamine patch comes in only one strength. It's not recommended for children. There are some serious side effects from it. I'd consider it only as a last resort (and then only for adults).

My husband (5'10", 190 pounds) had blurry vision, dry mouth, and some disorientation the first time he used it.

It's anticholergenic. No see, no pee, no spit, no $h!t...those are your side effects. (I'm nursing student, that's how I remember them. LOL) Dramamine, Bonine all have the same side effects. They're just stronger with a patch.
