  1. Excellent! Congratulations! I actually got a brand new, full length evening gown on eBay for $35 and it fits perfectly (new with tags!) navy blue sequin top and chiffon skirt :)

You can find some great things on eBay.

I love Ebay! There are so many great deals on there. I can't even begin to tell you how much I have purchased from Ebay.

And I love Amazon, too. I found both of my formal dresses on Amazon. One for $19 and the other for $30.

  2. I'm on day two.... Broth is fantastic, smoothie is meh, but as long as it works I will be happy. Anyone else trying this? I know Dr Oz is sort of a quack, but I have 9 1/2 weeks to fit into a bathing suit, so I'll do what I can, and it never hurts to give it a shot.

I agree...Dr. Oz is pretty much a quack! But what's his diet? Looks like you're losing some serious weight!

  3. Well, my search for the perfect white evening shawl/jacket/cover up/ ANYTHING THAT WILL WORK finally ended with success. I thought I would never find anything.

I'm tired of wearing predominantly black for formal night, and I found this amazing jade green/white vine and flower print top with sparkly sequins at Ross last summer. It's lined georgette and truly gorgeous. Trumpet sleeves and simple V neck. I have some very nice white evening pants (Dress Barn for the ladies looking for nicely cut pants) to wear with it.

But, I wanted an ensemble look, and looked online for about a month, bought a white chiffon "shawl" that looks like a long scarf, and couldn't find anything. I even looked at peignoir sets that I could alter the robe! I looked on Ebay, Amazon, everywhere. Bridal web sites, you name it. My sister was even looking for them everywhere she went in CA, AZ, CO on her way across by car.

Last week I stumbled on this after entering "bridal wraps and covers":

It comes in a jillion colors, too.

OMG! These are absolutely beautiful. Very classic and elegant.

  4. Anybody use Dreamfields pasta? Low carb and low GI.

Dreamfields always makes my blood sugar rise. I don't think it's as low carb as they want people to believe. Miracle noodles or shirataki noodles are a good substitute. You can find them at Sprouts. I like using spaghetti squash. I just put it in the crockpot in the morning and it's done at dinner time.

  5. *holding up my right hand* I, Ginny aka CrimsonQueen, if given the option, do solemnly swear or affirm to use my Carnival-given Bar Credit of $80 to purchase said Cheers Program, but never, ever get "fall down drunk" nor endanger the life of the kids on board.

In all seriousness, I happen to be a very responsible adult....I would never drink and drive, I vote, was president of the PTA, have worked for the same agency for 28 years....etc., etc., etc. But I'm not responsible for those sweet cherubs onboard...their parents are. I raised mine....he's 32.

    Perfectly said!

  6. :D I am known for paring down and minimizing the toiletries I bring on vacations. My mother just looks at me like I have 5 heads for being able to do this :D

    HAIR:

    • Diffuser (I use the ships blowdryer)
    • Morroccan Oil
    • Kinky Curly Custard (Whole Foods)
    • bobby pins/rubber bands/barrettes for cute hair dos via http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/ (I practice before the trip on diff hairstyles that might work for daytime or nighttime)

    SKIN/MAKEUP:

    • Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturizer
    • Murad Face Wash
    • Jojoba Oil (from Trader Joe's for cleaning off eye-makeup easily)
    • Bare Essentials powders & brushes, blemish therapy & coverup
    • Urban Decay Naked2 palette & bare essentials Foil eye kit (love the disco color for a neutral!)
    • Mascara - Tarte Amazonian clay
    • Sunscreen

Don't worry...I'll be taking a lot of toiletries too! And I love The Small Things Blog! Have you checked out http://www.alexsismae.com/? She has some great tutorials. I have already practiced a few of them for my upcoming cruise.

  7. I am not really losing a lot of weight, but I am losing inches. So I can't complain too much. I am working out daily on my Gazelle for 45 minutes. I also started a 30 day thigh workout yesterday. OMG...I am feeling the pain from that one. But with Atkins and exercise, it will be worth it in the end!

  8. I'm cheap....

Dollar tree: cold cream for face wash, witch hazel for toner, cotton pads, and make up sponges, oh and wet n wild serum mascara

Ross's: for day and night creams (usually no more than five dollars a piece)

E.l.f.: All things makeup related. They have some awesome stuff, their primer is a fave of mine and I love their assemble your own quad eyeshadow set. Their products range from 1-6 dollars. I recommend checking out YT for reviews.

Love the Dollar Tree for lots of stuff. I have never tried their cold cream though.

And I love ELF. Their Studio line is my favorite. The Studio line brushes are amazing and I will never go back to make up sponges or eye shadow applicators. You can really see a different quality when you apply make up with brushes.

  9. Hi low carb afficianados! Good job on the motivation & effort to lose before we cruise! I have not made cruise plans yet for this year, but hope to go late Aug/early Sept once again on Carnival Magic. I see AmandaBlue will be on her in May - hope you get to your goal...I think it is doable if you lose ~ 5lbs a month, you will be close. (btw, Magic is now our favorite ship!):D

Working out certainly kicks it up a notch & makes ya feel great too!

Funny new commercial w/ Sharon Osborne & 'the bunny' having lunch...cute & so true.

I am definitely trying! I cannot wait to go on the Magic. This will be my first cruise and I am beyond excited! And finding this site has made it even better.

  10. I just finished my first week and I lost 9lbs. I am so excited. I know it won't be like that from now on but I will take it. If I can lose an average of 2lbs a week I will be very happy. We cruise May 18th. So excited and want to feel good.

A 9lb loss is great! Congrats! You definitely will not lose 9lbs every week, but sticking with Atkins and exercising, you can lose 2lbs a week. =)

  11. I really like the dresses & I noticed the prices are great! I'll have to check them out...I love the hi/lo blue dress!

I know! I was really worried about the quality of them because they were so inexpensive. But I figured I could return them if I really didn't like them. The purple one is absolutely beautiful on. It doesn't look cheaply made at all. I have read a lot about the company that makes them and they have great reviews. I just need to lose a few more lbs and it will look even better.

  12. I am huge Atkins follower. I lost a lot of weight of it before. But then I reverted back to my old ways and started stress eating. =/

Read the books, so you can follow it correctly. It's not just eating a ton of meat. I eat more veggies than I ever did in the past. Cruisingfor5, I would try OWL phase and where you can start adding things like beans in your diet for protein. Protein is very important on Atkins.

  13. My son has Asperger's so I understand where you are coming from. My boy is just very blunt and says what he thinks.

Are you going with someone who might be able to recognize when you need some private time? Do you like music? You can always listen to some and drown out others.

  14. This is embarrassing:o and is a closely held secret, but I use Monistat Anti Chafing cream (the stuff you put between your legs) as a foundation primer. It is the best on the market and VERY affordable. My BFF does makeup for some very high profile clients and she's the one who told me about it. I have raging rosacea and it doesn't aggravate it. In fact it has allowed me to use products that would normally cause a flare.

I use it too! Half the price and has the exact same ingredients as top notch primers!

  15. I personally follow Atkins (low carb diet). There are a lot of misconceptions about the way of eating, but after reading the book as well as being a nursing student, it makes sense. It also works for me. I had gestational diabetes and that ups my risk for type 2 diabetes. I could tell when my blood sugar has highs and lows when I tried doing Weight Watchers or low calorie plans. Doing Atkins, my blood sugars are always stable. I eat tons of veggies and I exercise 3 days a week. In just 10 days, I have lost 9lbs, and 1 inch from my waist and 1 from my hips.
