  1. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on Royal Princess on a Med cruise. We treated ourselves to a bottle of Dom for that. It was in Sabatinis so the fuss was a bit more subdued than it probably would have been in the MDR.
  2. They have a fair idea of how many of each dish will be ordered on every menu. I don't actually like the prime rib.
  3. From what I've seen of photos it appears to be the standand first night dinner with prime rib. Princess is fairly predictable in that respect, although they do very well on long cruises by varying the menus rather than just cycling through the same set. B2Bs get a bit boring though.
  4. And on the ship itself the cabin TV is interactive plus there are interactive screens throughout the ship which can be used to do things like make bookings, check your account, buy FCDs, see the daily programme, etc. Stuff that is also available through the app.
  5. I've only had really good bacon on one Princess cruise, on Sea Princess in 2019. The rest of the time it's been tasteless crunchy cardboard. Celebrity Solstice was pretty bad too I think.
  6. Going off topic is quite acceptable on our AUS/NZ forum. We do it all the time! 🤣 Have a look here and you should find a roll call for your cruise where you can chat with others on that cruise. https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/forum/209-coral-princess-roll-calls/
  7. Good point. The shortest cruise we're booked on is 7 days so it might not be cost effective for us. We're not interested in photo packages, only need one device each, and already get one free SD from being in a suite. Plus all our favourite cocktails are $16 or less. As long a s I can get decent wines for dinner the plus package will do us fine and I've already budgeted for spending a bit extra on wine if we want something special. Might have to pass on the Dom Perignon though!🤣
  8. Well there isn't much choice in itineraries at this time of year so they will come close several times over the next couple of months I suspect.
  9. That seems like a decent selection to me. Eleven savoury items and seven sweet items is about what I recall from past cruises. I found on one cruise that there was plenty of each item out the back of the IC, they just didn't put it all out on display.
  10. If it's crispy but relatively tasteless it may indeed be deep fried as in that case the flavour from the bacon fat would be lost into the frying oil. Crispy bacon needs to be cooked in it's own fat or at least grilled to retain the flavour.
  11. I did see a comment from someone somewhere saying they had upgraded once onboard. I think it was around $20-$25 pp per day. Remember if you choose a drink thatvis over the Plus limit you only pay the difference so think carefully as to whether an upgrade is cost effective.
  12. The list I saw had the bottle price on all wines plus a by the glass price on a selection of those wines. For example there were two pinio grigios that were offered by the glass and both were within the Plus limit. From what I've heard most of the wines on the special Plus list are wines that are made specifically for bulk buyers like clubs. They are not available from bottle stores or directly from the wineries.
  13. If those are the only wines available by the glass under the Plus package I am going to be seriously annoyed as the selection is ridiculously limited. I have seen the full MDR wine list that someone posted, with plenty of extra wines by the glass that are within the Plus limit so I very much hope we are able to order from that as well.
  14. I didn't hear a splash! Maybe they locked him in the brig.
  15. That's what I'm hoping. We often cruised in inside cabins though, so the Sanctuary substituted for a balcony.
  16. I don't know what happened to him. They escorted him out of the Sanctuary and that was the last we saw of him, thank goodness. He looked like a very angry young man.
  17. It's also the thickly cushioned sunloungers, chilled water topped up all day, afternoon tea served to your sunlounger, and peace and quiet to read or just gaze at the ocean.
  18. We usually use the Sanctuary on sea days but probably won't on the upcoming cruise as we have the suite. But I'll be sussing it out as we'll probably use it on our August cruise. It will be a nice change having the wake views though. We've seen people in the past walk into the Sanctuary and just take a lounger. Mostly they leave very quickly once the steward informs them of the charge but once there was a guy who flatly refused to move. He got a bit aggressive so they called security and they removed him.
  19. That stuff isn't maple syrup, it's disgusting high fructose corn syrup trying to masquerade as maple syrup.
  20. Most of the fat renders off so you're left with just enough to hold it together, plus most of the flavour is actually in the fat. Not just with bacon either, that's why wagyu beef is so prized.
  21. It's supposed to be just for those using the Sanctuary I believe. I'm not sure whether they check that or not though.
  22. The Plus package states all drinks up to $16 so any wine by the glass within that limit should be included. I'm not sure what they are trying to do with their special package wine lists, which mostly aren't wines I want to drink.
