The important fact is that this is a downward trend. It doesn’t matter if other cruise lines are also going down. X is probably maintaining its position relative to most other lines but at a far lower absolute standard.

Well said. We choose between land-based vacations, Caribbean AI's, and cruising. What has been happening on the cruising side is what has had our vacation dollars being spent on the other two options the past few years. Not sure it will ever go back to what it was in terms of value and quality of service, but the Caribbean AI's are still cost-competitive without standards deteriorating.

I find it hard to believe that what we read on CC and other social media would differ from X's survey data unless it is spin-doctored....much like how cookiegate was spun by X.

  2. I had to cancel three bookings when COVID hit in early 2020. We started traveling again in 2021, but have focused on land-based AIs until cruising returned to what was normal for us. Therefore I had not been perusing these boards in recent years. I booked a cruise on Beyond for 2024 last week and started visiting CC again and am stunned by what I have found. Not just change after change, but I could not find this thread without Googling "Arno who is onboard". To say I am saddened is an understatement.

We had the joy of being on two sailings with Arno and his lovely wife. Two of the most positive and genuine people we have met while cruising. Everywhere the two of them went they were greeted like celebrities onboard. Banning them for life is beyond fathomable.

Thank you Arno for all that you did to keep us informed. Thank you for treating X staff with respect and admiration. This fate is unacceptable, but from what I am reading here now, you have likely found a more suitable "floating condo". Peace be with you and yours and I hope to cross paths on deck again soon.

  3. We had an experience in a SS on the Equinox about 5 years ago where sewer line clogged and backed up and led to water covering our bathroom floor. The Michaels Club Concierge took care of it right away and on departure day she gave us a $500 future cruise credit for our inconvenience.  We did not ask for or encourage compensation because it was handled quickly and respectfully, but that was their choice. X seems to be shy on customer service nowadays, so hard to tell what to expect....if anything.

  4. Phoenix, great analogy and wonderful input. Granted the ship is 13 years old, and we still enjoy the M-Class Ships, we simply want to be sure to balance our expectations going in. Your input helps build the proper frame of mind. Even if the furnishing are nicer in a SS or CC1 on deck 6, the space and view from a corner FV likely outweighs the potential cons.

Thanks again to everyone. CruiseCritic has proven to be a valuable resource to us. Bless you.

  5. Thanks so much for the feedback, it is very helpful. Our expectations of the ship and service are high, our reservations concern the condition of the cabins. Decisions.... decisions. The layout of the FV, particularly the corner FV is ideal. We would like to think that if 7208 is in good shape as reported (thank you so much), that the other aft cabins would be too. From what we have read, it appears the FVs take more of a beating than the C1s due to the number of occupants on average and the number of children, etc.

Hopefully fate will be on our side with whichever choice we make:)

  6. Hi to all, and thanks so much for providing a valuable information resource to folks like us. We will be sailing on the Summit in March and have growing concerns about the condition of the ship, particularly the C1 and FV aft cabins. We have been finding adverse feedback on the condition of the furnishings and bathrooms of these cabins, particularly the bathroom/shower. Has Celebrity done anything recently to improve the conditions of the cabins (furnishings, shower tile, rust on the balcony, worn railing, etc.)?

Also finding mixed feedback on C1 versus FV. We have two adults and one teenager. We have the option of 8166 or 7208. We have sailed in the Sky Suites on M-Class within the past year and the condition of those cabins was excellent. However, the most recent pictures we have seen of the sofas and showers of the C1 and FV cabins on the aft of all M-Class ships appear to be dreadful. Any feedback from those with recent experience on the Summit would be greatly appreciated. If we would be better off in a Sky Suite or CC1 on the Penthouse deck, please let us know. Thanks.
