  1. Sue & I cruised the Oasis 4/30-5/7 2016 to the Eastern Caribbean, Visiting Nassau, St Thomas and St Martin with 3 Sea Days. We waiting until after boarding to order our Voom Pakages to use our D+ benefits. The Voom Single Device Share, Surf & Stream was $20/Day, the Share & Surf was $10/Day. I got the Fast Stream Pacakge & Sue got the Slow Surf Pacakge. (Mine was $80 after discount and Sue's was $10 after Discount.

I was impressed the the Voom with Stream, I was able to wathch Netflix, Amazon Prime and other Videos. I used Voom at sea and in port, all times of the day and speed was fast all the time...

I did a speed test with Ookla's Speed Test (Picture Included) 191ma Ping, 19.50Mbps Upstream and 9.81 Mbps downstream...

  2. A general summary of food and the ship would be to say it was excellent and the ship is beautiful - this was the inaugural cruise for this ship.

    Which Longship was it??

Our friends and us are going on our first River Cruise during the Christmas Market Season (Dec 10-17) on Avalon Imagery II (one of Avalon's new ships in 2016) Amsterdam to Basel...

    Really Looking Forward to It.

  3. I saw a lot of blue & gray water in my 25+ years in the Navy. Fortunately I was not prone to motions sickness, in fact, a north atlantic storm on a small frigate was a lot of fun.

Motion sickness, sometimes referred to as sea sickness or car sickness, is a very common disturbance of the inner ear that is caused by repeated motion. Anyone can develop motion sickness, but people vary in their sensitivity to motion. Motion sickness most commonly affects children from 2 to 12 years old, pregnant women, and people who are prone to migraines. In addition to sea travel, motion sickness can develop from the movement of a car or from turbulence in an airplane.

While it may be impossible to prevent all cases of motion sickness, the following tips can help you prevent or lessen the severity of motion sickness:

Watch your consumption of foods, drinks, and alcohol before and during travel. Avoid excessive alcohol and foods or liquids that "do not agree with you" or make you feel unusually full. Heavy, spicy, or fat-rich foods may worsen motion sickness in some people.

Avoiding strong food odors may also help prevent nausea.

Try to choose a location where you will experience the least motion. On a ship, those in lower level cabins near the center of a ship generally experience less motion than passengers in higher or outer cabins.

Do not read while traveling if you are prone to motion sickness.

When traveling by boat, it can sometimes help to keep your gaze fixed on the horizon or on a fixed point.

Open a vent or source of fresh air if possible.

Isolate yourself from others who may be suffering from motion sickness. Hearing others talk about motion sickness or seeing others becoming ill can sometimes make you feel ill yourself.

The over-the-counter medication meclizine (Bonine, Antivert, Dramamine) can be a very effective preventive measure for short trips or for mild cases of motion sickness. Your doctor also may choose to prescribe medications for longer trips or if you repeatedly develop severe motion sickness. One example of a prescription medication is a patch containing scopolamine (Transderm-Scop) that often is effective in preventing motion sickness. Remember that scopolamine can cause drowsiness and has other side effects, and its use should be discussed with your physician prior to your trip.

Most prescription and OTC remedies need to be taken/applied before the ship gets underway. My wife does not suffer side effects from scopolamine patches, we put one on before boarding and it usually lasts a 7 day cruise.

  4. I have booked with UK travel agent and Select drinks package is included. I am considering upgrading to the premium package but can not figure out how to do this online. I was hoping to take advantage of the 20% discount. Do any of the experts out there know if this is possible?

Check with your UK Travel Agent...

  5. Here is RCI's latest information about ZIKA...

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is committed to the safety and health of our guests and crew. We are closely monitoring the Zika virus situation and are aware that the CDC has issued a travel alert for certain countries where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. Royal Caribbean will assist any pregnant women who do not feel comfortable sailing to countries affected with the Zika virus by providing alternate itinerary options. This may include providing guests with a future cruise credit valid for two years so that they may re-schedule their voyage for a later date, with no penalty. Guests seeking additional information on the Zika virus are encouraged to contact their primary care physician or visit the CDC's website.

    1. Contact your Primary Care Physician

    2. Visit the CDC's Website

Then make your decision about your Cruise.

  6. Children are welcome in the Diamond Club when well-behaved and accompanied by their adults.

It is open 24 hours a day, via your SeaPass card or WOWband.

The coffee machine is available all day.

There is a continental breakfast set up in the morning.

    Cocktail hours are 5 to 8:30 P.M.

You can also use the 3 vouchers that are on your SeaPass each night in almost any bar on the ship. (no restaurants; different opinions about the Bionic Bar)

WELL-BEHAVED can describe a very wide range of behavior in the eyes of any observer or accompanying adult...

The Lounge is usually adults during the cocktail hour (sometimes enforced, sometimes not)...

  7. MARMITE is the brand name for two similar food spreads: the original British version, since 2000 a Unilever product; and a modified version produced in New Zealand by Sanitarium Health Food Company and distributed in Australia and the Pacific. Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. Other similar products include the Australian Vegemite, which is saltier in taste, the Swiss Cenovis and the German Vitam-R.

The British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown food paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty. This distinctive taste is reflected in the British company's marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." The product's name has entered British English as a metaphor for something that is an acquired taste or tends to polarise opinions.[1]

A version with a different flavour[2] has been manufactured in New Zealand since 1919. This is the only product sold as Marmite in Australia and the Pacific, whereas elsewhere in the world the British version predominates.

VEGEMITE is a dark brown Australian food paste made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives developed by Cyril P. Callister in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1922.

A spread for sandwiches, toast, crumpets and cracker biscuits as well as a filling for pastries, Vegemite is similar to British, New Zealand and South African Marmite, Australian Promite and MightyMite, Swiss Cenovis. With the brand now owned by American company Mondelēz International, other Australian-owned spreads have entered the market to provide an alternative, such as the yeast-based AussieMite.

Vegemite is salty, slightly bitter, malty, and rich in umami – similar to beef bouillon.

  9. Ok, I have two cruises booked in the next couple of months. I noticed a few weeks ago that a message was popping up saying my name didn't match my C&A number and my number was no longer on my reservation. Called, and was told for some reason my first name and last name were reversed.. Weird because I've had the same number since 2005. They fixed it, message went away, numbers linked. Today I checked my cruise planner and there's that message again! I called and once again my name has been reversed. It's weird, and man I hope it doesn't mess up on our cruise because we are getting close to diamond and I want to earn those points. Anyone else ever had this happen and know how I can prevent it from happening again?

    Thanks,

    Julie

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Just had the same thing happen with Celebrity. Would not show my Captains Club information. A quick call to the 888 number and the nice representative found First & Last names reversed in the Captains Club data base. An easy fix.

  10. Doubt if they will, I am confused though, if your tired of doing the same ol' same ol' cruise out of PC whey would a Celebrity ship out of PC be any better than any of the ships current sailing out of Canaveral, Including... Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean & Norwegian (There might not be enough room for another Line or Ship)...

From June to December 2016 Celebrity has cruises leaving from: Anchorage, AK; Seattle, WA; Vancouver, BC; Bayonne, NJ; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; San Diego, CA; San Juan; and Puerto Rico in North Ameria and many more in ports around the world. (maybe they have no spare ship to homeport in PC).

  11. First you might be on one of the weeks when there are not as many spring breakers. Many spring breakers prefer the shorter (less than 5 days) like the 3 & 4 Day Bahama & Caribbean Cruises.

We've done a number of spring break cruises. You see occasional rowdiness but not anything to worry about even though there are a lot of young adults.

Can not address other Cruise Lines or venues/dates. Totally your choice.

Keep the booking and just make plans for the FUN !!!

  13. This sounds like a great plan, but didn't they do away with the 24 hour hold. I could be wrong...I thought I read it here somewhere. Would love to try this on our next cruise.

The 'Courtesy Hold's' are still there, Usually in a couple places per page.

At the Bottom of the 'Select Guests Page' of booking online it says:

Not ready to book? We'll save this reservation for 24 hours - it's free! Hold this reservation

    Dennis & Sue

  14. We were on the Enchantment (3/14-18 2016) and saw a nice 9 Night Alaska Cruise (May 17, 2017, On Raddiance) and wondered if booking onboard would be better than online booking.

Here is what I did. I went online and booked the cruise with the cabin I wanted, I got the same 30% discount advertised onboard plus a small $26 OBC. I put it on a 24hr hold.

Then went to the Future Bookings Onboard and showed her my Reservation on hold. She entered a similar cabin booking and it was the same cost as the one I booked online plus an additional $100.

I cancelled my booking on hold, that released the cabin I wanted and the Future Reservations Agent made my booking for that cabin. In addition to the extra $100 OBC the $26 OBC transfered to the onboard booking, plus the deposit was only $100...

I can cancel that reservation up to 90 days prior to sailing without any Cancellation Charge.
