  1. I was looking at a map of the market. wow, its huge. It said shops and crafts there are 425 and 80 restaurants and the original starbucks. Appears to be a lot of walking. I want to see it but not all, way too much walking involved and I have a foot problem. Does anyone know approx how long it would take to see the market? Of course not all, but was deciding if I should go and spend an hour before the cruise or wait until cruise is over and go when I have more time. Is one hour enough time? I must see the orig starbucks and does anyone know what else would be a must see at the market???

  2. Yes they do.

I use mine as an alarm clock every weekday.

But on a cruise it is always turned off and locked in the safe.

    And I don't like wearing a watch!

ETA: Not using the travel clock as an alarm, just simply like knowing the time if I wake up in the middle of the night.

Thats exactly it. Im not a good sleeper and all night long I toss and turn and know what time it is. If I have to get up early for an excursion, I can use the wake up call but I like to look and know I have 2 hours before they call LOL. I dont understand why they have no clocks. On the Breakaway, the only clock I saw was on the pool deck. Otherwise, I had to keep asking people what time it is and in my room it was guessing time lol

  3. When I was boarding in NY at the pier, Breakaway March 30

I saw people bring cases of water with their luggage

Hey, I was on same cruise as you LOL. Yes, I saw many cases of water being loaded on.

  4. I don't know why everyone is being so negative.

Even assuming a complete lock out at 3 PM (for a 5 PM sailing?) you have a 4+ hour cushion (more like 6 hours actually). Taxi from the airport to the pier is 30-45 minutes. Allow another 20-30 minutes to get bags and your plane can be 3+ hours late without causing a problem for you.

With a direct flight and good spring/summer weather the odds of that kind of delay are extremely low :). Obviously it is less stressful to fly in the day before but there is no reason to stress out over this itinerary.

    Enjoy your trip!

Totally agree. I orig was coming in like 6 hrs b4 flight and changed it to day b4. Figured spending about $4K was not worth the risk arriving the same day. Thats all. Not being negative, just would be worried the entire time.

  5. Yes, I agree. It is definitely different from the cabin water, though. We usually just consume whatever water is from the mini bar. My parents are traveling with us though, and they want to bring their large bottles onboard with them.

Yes you can but makes the luggage weight a lot. What I did, I have the cabin steward empty my refridge and fill my ice bucket. I ordered room service and asked for a few glasses of water w/lemon on side and OJ. I always had something cold to drink in the room that way. But, some people just like to carry a bottle. I could not be bothered LOL. Just ordered water where ever I was. The bartenders and even the servers that walk around taking drink orders will bring you water.

  6. They will not be able to catch up with the ship because of PVSA. (Assuming this is an Alaskan cruise.)

If you miss the ship you cannot get onboard anywhere in Alaska.

Check your insurance policy. At times they will not cover certain travel arrangements.

I was talking about $ reimbursement not catching the ship. However, you are correct. You really cannot go by success rate because anything can happen. I can say I did it and all ok and you can go and have a delay for numerous reasons. All I can say is the month you are going can increase or decrease odds such as hurricane season, lighting, wind storms. Even if they hold flight for suspicious reasons now a days. If you can make any arrangement at all to go the day before thats really to be safe. If not, if you dont loose any money I would change the day if you can. When are you going? Did you pay for anything yet?

  7. smart phones make great travel clocks.

Thanks Mike. My son says the same thing. I have the old phone LOL. I cant see me upgrading when I know I would never use the features. I only make calls and text LOL. Maybe I'm showing my age haha. I thought my clock on phone would work last week on Breakaway but that didnt work at all. Drove me crazy not knowing the time. Bought a watch in Nassau:D. this cruise its a must to have a clock in room. Only clock is very tiny on the cabin room phone. Its nice to roll over in bed and know the time haha. Was going to bring my little digital alarm clock w me but someone on thread said it won't work? Don't really understand why but I assume they are correct. Thanks again Mike.

  8. For a variety of work-related reasons, we cannot fly in the day before a Seattle cruise on Celebrity.

We booked a flight that should arrive in Seattle at 10:40 AM. Our cruise is scheduled to sail at 5:00 PM (with an all aboard around 3:00 or so).

Are we nuts? Anyone accomplished this and can calm my nerves?

    Thanks!

I originally did what you did. Then I was scared and changed my flight to the day before and booked a hotel. However, a penalty of $238 per ticket I had to pay:( Is there an earlier flight you can take to arrive a few hours earlier? If you booked flight w NCL and have insurance you would be covered. I booked mine separate thats why i changed it. Good luck. You will prob be okay, I was just scared

  9. Demonyte, thanks for that info. BTW, I used to be able to reply to messages by clicking on the quote or mini-quote. I have been clicking on them and only my message pops up without the quote of which I was responding too. Is there something new I don't know about? Cant understand why the quote not coming up. I emailed CC and they could not figure it out? Thanks

  10. Just back from the Breakaway. My husband could not drink enough. The best water I ever had. No need to bring water unless you just want water bottle to carry. Even the cubes are purified. No after taste at all. Every where I went I asked for water w/lemon. Perfect temp too. Never had water that was so good. Hope this helps. Oh, yes, you can bring sealed water on ship.:D

  11. Just back from Breakaway and you had to put a room key (actually any key with a magnetic strip) into a slot in order to turn on/off electric. Is the Jewel the same way? I thought I was charging my cell and when I got back it never charged because I took out the key and all electric was shut off. I wanted to pack a little digital clock on the jewel but if you have to use a key to get electric I won't bother. That would be annoying to constantly re-set the clock every night. I hate having no clock in the rooms. Thought because the Jewel is an older ship that it might not be that way. Hope so, want to bring a clock. Does anyone know???? thanks:D

  12. agabbymama lol...Just came back from the Breakaway and my husband and I shared the bed. We had no cracks LOL. The bed was equal to a king I would say and very comfortable. However, this cruise I'm going on is with my best friend so we were getting separate beds. But, after seeing pics of the room with twin beds with the light fixture hitting you in the head and trouble getting in the closet I think one large bed is better. But, I know what you mean after all years to sleep and have the bed to yourself is nice LOL. Years ago, we had inside room and had twin beds, had them put together and it was terrible. I had to crawl over my husband to get out of bed LOL. When I asked steward to separate the beds he was pissed off and yelled at me. I was shocked. However, never got an inside room again. Once I got a balcony, the inside room was no longer an option haha. Just didnt know this layout of mini-suite if it was better for twins or one bed. Thanks for the note :D

  13. After I posted above, I did some checking. Ok, my hotel was $149 but is now $169. I booked it 2 months ago. I called the hotel, Spring Hill Suites by Marriot Downtown Seattle. They do have a free shuttle bus to take you to Westlake, space needle, and pike market. They also have a deal with a shuttle company to take you to cruise pier for just $7. I decided NOT to take the light rail because i went to http://www.flatrateforhire.com and its $29 for the both of us and our luggage from airport to hotel. Free breakfast also. All the rooms are suites with living room, microwave, fridge, and looks really nice on website. When you are done shopping or touring around, you call the hotel and they send a free shuttle bus to get you from pike or westlake center, etc. Hopes this helps someone

  14. The smaller ships the MDR is open. All I know is I just got off the Breakaway and the MDR (the Manhattan Room) was closed and only open for DINNER ONLY! Yes, I was disappointing also. Choices were the Savor, The Taste or the Buffet which are all comp but nothing like the MDR. Much smaller and limited menu. No omelettes on the menu. BTW, they charge you for espresso or cappuccino. When I was on the smaller ships it was free. The coffee is terrible BTW but the water is great.

  15. Thanks for the inside info mike. Mike, you seem to have all the answers for me lol. Still cant get your pics of Alaska w the eagle out of my head. Getting really excited to go. Just came back Sunday from the Breakaway but looking forward to the Jewel. The Breakaway dining I was not thrilled. The MDR was only open for dinner. You had to go to the smaller rest for breakfast and/or lunch. Looking forward to a smaller ship but not a smaller room. After reading what you both wrote, Im calling NCL tomorrow and changing it to one bed. Thanks again:D

  16. Thanks Mike. Years ago I was on the Dawn w inside cabins and it was really really small. We did as you said. Started w 2 twins and asked to put together. After together we could not walk and asked to seperate again. The steward had the nerve to yell at me saying "lady, you cant keep changing your mind" and the next day they never cleaned my room. I called and complained they sent me a bottle of wine lol. I thought someone would know the mini suite size etc. didnt want to go through that again. Thanks again.
