Lots of the options available before the hurricane are still not operating. From what I've been able to tell, Garden of the Groves and the beaches are about the only options. Maybe you could consider doing your beach day in Freeport and something else in Nassau?
Thank you for the response. We booked a private excursion/tour so we'll see how it goes. It had good reviews and has been operating the last few weeks. Some beach time is included and we've been to Freeport before so we're fine with whatever is available. We're all too familiar with the aftermath of a hurricane so we understand there are limitations. We just didn't want to stay on the ship when we can support the locals in some small way. Thanks again!

Our jeep excursion in Freeport was canceled so we're looking for something else to do. Recommendations? We already have a beach day planned in Nassau so we'd prefer something different and a chance to see more of the island.

Thank you. I just didn't receive any notification that request had been received, so I wasn't sure.

I don't know if they take walk-ins or if they're full every night. What I have done for my next cruise is find out which nights are elegant and book it for other nights. You can make a reservation in your my cruise manager under "specialty dining reservations." You should get an email back within a week. I had one where I didn't receive an email confirmation..I resubmitted the request and received confirmation the next day.
I was wondering about this. I tried to make a reservation, but I'm not sure if the submission was received and haven't received a confirmation. Did you get a notification that they received your request? I resubmitted but I don't want it charged to my account twice.

Does Mayan Plaza have a lot to see and do, or is it just shopping al la Diamonds International, ect...
We didn't get to spend time there, but they have a facebook page and a website http://www.mayanplaza.mx. I think the fb page has more information. As you exit the port gate, cross the street, turn left and the plaza is just past the gas station. It was the meeting place for our jeep excursion.

Who here has done this tour? Mom and I are both teachers and are wanting to visit the school and take a few school supplies with us. The Carnival website doesn't offer much info about the tour, so I was hoping you all might have some additional information! Thanks!
Unfortunately, our excursion last week was canceled due to lack of interest in it. Hopefully, more attention can be brought to this type of excursion.

There is also a new shopping plaza called Mayan Plaza across from Puerta Maya.

I have the ones from last week but I'm having an issue with my scanner. Is there a specific question? I'll try to post as soon as the issue is resolved.

I pre-booked a VIP couples pass on the Carnival Dream and the port day prices were still more than what I paid. The only issue is that even though it's prepaid, they will still post the charge to your Sail and Sign card and turn around and post the refund. Don't be upset when you see that charge the first day.

I usually use the thalassotherpy pool first. After that, I use the aromatic steam room (not always aromatic) followed by a quick shower. I then use at least one of the other heated rooms, followed by another quick shower. Then I relax on the heated loungers for awhile. After that I go to the relaxation room, have a glass of fruit infused water and relax for a few minutes. I finish it off by showering, in the provided changing room, so I don't have to mess up the shower in my cabin. By this time I am feeling great and ready for what ever may happen next..:)
Thank you. It sounds wonderful!

We purchased the pass for an upcoming cruise. Is there a recommended order for using the rooms or does does it matter?

We did this tour last month and had a great time (on the Allure). We were with my boys 16&18. I think the issue with the equipment is more with the buggies than the ATV's. Typical tour.... go in single file but still go at a pretty good clip if you are in the front :)....the crew was excellent
Can the water/cave be accessed without jumping?

Thank you for posting! We're visiting Roatan in June. I know a great deal has changed since my visit 20 years ago. I'm happy to have discovered your blog!

On a map It appears to be a couple blocks north of that pier . Definitely walkable but beyond where most tours meet up ?

Thank you very much! Where did you find a map?

I'd love to revive this thread to see if there are any new recommendations?:)
I recently read The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. Decked by Carol Higgins Clark is an old favorite and much lighter reading.

We've been told to meet our tour guide at the Mayan Plaza outside the Puerta Maya Cruise terminal. Is this walkable or will we need a taxi? I haven't been able to locate it on a map. (We were given directions, but I've been told by someone that they thought that it was farther than what the directions say.) I hope they have it confused with another location. We prefer not to spend the extra on taxi.

We've booked this for our next cruise. I'm interested in hearing from others as well.

We booked the private Jeep excursion (just 3 of us) through Shore Excursioneer and will be there mid-May. I will try to remember to post back here and let you know how it goes. :)
Thanks so much!

It's on the Promenade deck. I believe there's access through a lounge. If I remember correctly, there are stairs leading down from the back of the Lido buffet as well.

We did this excursion in Freeport and loved it. They meet you and the port and take you by bus to the jeeps. We were able to see parts of the National Park as well as residential areas that you don't see if your on other tours. We'd do it again.

We've booked a jeep tour through Shore Excursioneer. We're looking forward to it, but a little apprehensive since it's the first time we've booked outside the cruise line.

In my experience, with anytime dining your entire party must be present before you're seated. We had to wait for a table to accommodate our group.

My husband and I walked there, then walked across to Fort Charlotte. We took the #10 jitney back to town. Twin Brothers was great!

Hello everyone! I was wondering what everyone else does while in Freeport. We are leaving in 6 days but were there 5 years ago and went to a free beach and I can not remember the name of it. We are beach people and will have teenagers with us. Any suggestions???
We booked a jeep excursion through Carnival a couple of years ago and loved it.

I agree! My favorite souvenirs are photos. I’ve had several enlarged and framed. In addition, grocery store prices are much less expensive for food items than the typical souvenir and gift shops. I also try to find handmade jewelry or Christmas ornaments.
