Thanks for the response! I'm happy to see that it's being protected but I hope it doesn't become crowded...that was the appeal.

Dunn's River Falls is fun if you're in good shape. The vendors outside do try to sell their wares but a simple "No, thank you" works just fine. We did that and a beach morning and lunch before if I recall. In Cozumel, we took the ferry to the mainland and visited Rio Secreto which is absolutely the best excursion we've ever been on. Years ago, I visiited Tulum ruins which are absolutely worth the ferry ride...on a beautiful cliff overlooking the water. Just remember, the trips to the mainland will be an all day excursion and won't leave time for much on Cozumel itself.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did that.

Does anyone have any updated info on Lindquist Beach on St. Thomas? Is it considered safe? Fees? Transportation? Any info would be appreciated.

I agree that Chichen Itza would be the best ruins to visit between the two ports. Cozumel has a more extensive excursion list with beach options, shopping, etc. but smaller ruins unless you take the ferry to the mainland to visit Tulum.
Tulum is in a beautiful location, but the ferry ride from Cozumel can be rough if you're prone to sea sickness.

Thanks for the info!

I agree with wearing an athletic shoe and water shoes. You'll want those for the excursions you mentioned. The walk from the ship to the excursion pick up area can be a long one as well.

Has anyone taken the local bus to either beach? Any info on either area or transportation would be appreciated.

We've considered RC but have always traveled with Carnival. If the ports are the same, I'd prefer to spend the $200 on excursions or a spa day.

I've cruised alone and thoroughly enjoyed it. My table mates were also single travelers for the most part and a few wound up on the same excursions. Just go and have an enjoyable time. Spa days also make good use of time if you're traveling solo. Enjoy!

We booked a jeep excursion through Carnival this past December . They met us at the pier then took us to the jeeps. We toured the entire island then had a beach break. We'd do it again.

We did a jeep tour in Freeport. My husband and I had a jeep to ourselves, although they normally put 4 to a jeep. We had a great time and saw parts of the island most cruisers don't see. They left time to visit one of the beach clubs for a short swim. We would recommend it to anyone!

2 years is not an ideal age for a cruise, still in diapers, too young for almost all pools and all children programs. Our son was very active at that age, wanted to run and get around on his toddler tricycle. He would not sit still in any restaurant.
That's what I'm thinking. We may hold off on booking unless the parents are willing to take a chance.

NO
NO
NO
and may I add
NO
everything you do on the ship will be a compromise
So that's a definite "no" then?? Lol. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for the responses. I think we will present the idea then let the parents decide if they want to make the trip.

You didn't mention your son's age, but we enjoyed the jeep excursion in Freeport. We were able to see the island and there wasn't a great deal of walking. You're met at the port then ride the bus to pick up your jeep.

Fort Charlotte is a great place for photos and views of the island . Ardastra Gardens and zoo is nearby. We walked from the port but took the jitney (10) back.

Being on a cruise with a toddler is better than being at home with a toddler.
Lol. True I guess. This is normally my motto regarding the weather...a rainy day in the Caribbean is better than a rainy day at work!

My husband and I are considering taking our sons and their families on a Christmas cruise next year. One of them has a toddler, who will turn 2 during the trip. Should we be concerned that she's still too young? We want her parents to be able to enjoy their time on board., but honestly I have reservations .
