I learned about my colours in a rather insulting way -- I was attending a seminar on dressing professionally, in a good white shirt and black blazer, and the woman running the event . . . did not choose the most polite way of telling me it didn't suit my colors. I ended up figuring mine out on my own online; the fact that I have freckles and coppery hair narrowed things down quickly.
I'm another with prescription sunglasses; mine have a scratch on them so I should probably replace them sometime . . . but they've served me well the past ten years or so so it's taking me a while to move on.
Current packing plans have me bringing my backpack (I'm a tech addict and need something to carry my laptop -- no trusting that to checked luggage), purse, and one suitcase. Going over the various tips on this site, I don't know what percentage will be clothes and what will be 'must pack' items that others consider vital to a cruise.

You've all got an edge on me in the wardrobe department -- I've only recently caught on to dressing to suit my colors. I've got a lot of blacks and blues I need to winnow out of my closet.
I hope my brother lets me know which line/ship we're going on soon -- it'll make it so much easier to plan if I know the details.

My grandmother's pharmacy has an option of giving medications in pre-sorted blister packs -- putting the morning/noon/night ones in separate compartments and including labels for everything. I don't know if other pharmacies do this, but it seems like a good option to ask about.

I've only heard good things about Cards Against Humanity, but since I'm going with my grandmother I think I'll have to pick something a little more sedate that we can all still enjoy. Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Cubby holes seem like a good idea -- I'm still planning my first cruise, but from everything I've read, finding a place to leave my things while I go for a swim would come with a risk.

I'm going with my brother and grandmother. I don't have a Kindle or iPad -- Kobo and iPod Nano is enough for me 99% of the time so I see no need to upgrade those.
I just figure there might be the odd day where it's raining or something and the scheduled events don't interest us and it might be a fun way to pass the time.

I'm going through various sites, making up a list of what I need to pack for my upcoming cruise, and I thought about travel games. Would it be a good idea to pick one up for the trip?

Remembering that age . . . you need to think of them as more than just an age bracket. Staring at girls in bikinis isn't for everyone. Tell them that on the vacation, they'll be free to do their own thing around the ship -- and let them know about the rock climbing wall and other on-board activities.

Sorry, I think my question was imprecise -- I know that the dress I linked isn't formal-formal, but since there's different dress codes on different nights I was wondering which category it would fit into.
No question I'll let you know when I find out -- I want to know which Roll Call to join!

I figure you should opt for decent quality, but not something luxurious.

Honestly, I think it counts as personal preference. Some people would rather not give up that much space in their suitcase/carry that much weight; some would worry about the liquid putting you over the airline's weight limit. If those aren't issues for you, and you're not bringing glass bottles, you should be fine.

Tried that once, years ago; I was visiting some friends stateside and they asked me to bring some Coca-Cola that had real sugar in it. I didn't have any problems with it bursting on me, and my suitcase squeaked under the weight limit even with it (only one case) but the security guy who x-rayed my bag gave me a weird look.
We joke about the 'coke smuggling incident' to this day.

My brother decided to treat my grandmother and myself to a trip; he's doing the planning, and while I did offer some suggestions after poking around online, I think he'll be the one making the final call on the line and ship. We did agree on the Caribbean, though.
I'm on the short side, and it's harder for me to find a fancy dress that doesn't leave me thinking I'd trip on it if I tried to walk, so I'll think of how to accessorize . . . I have a nice brown belt that'd go well with it, for a start.

*waves* Newbie here; planning my first cruise, but most distinctly a warm autumn. I admit I don't know a lot about fashion, but I've been trying to add a few pieces to my wardrobe that are fancier -- don't want to be turned away from the dining room on formal nights.

What do you think of this one I've been looking at? I think it suits me, though I'm still a little vague as to what category of dress code it'd be for.

Honestly -- six pages, and no one's mentioned Wall-E? Sure, the cruise ship might've been in space, but it was still a cruise ship. With a pool!

I know the internet can be spotty and expensive -- I'm mostly taking it for writing and videos and stuff like that.
