  1. Today in Grand Cayman we tried to buy some Blackbeards rum. We were told they do not sell to Disney passengers. Anyone ever heard of this?

The place was in the duty free complex just accross the street from the North terminal and was sort of combined with a Cigar shop.

  2. Did you happen to buy the Disney insurance? The Disney insurance is unique in that it allows you to cancel for ANY reason. If your reason for cancelling is a "non covered" reason, such as changed your mind, instead of a full refund you get 75 percent of the cruise fare back as a credit for a future cruise. We had to do this one time. Your required to cancel before the cruise date. You then submit a claim to insurance and let it get denied. Once it is denied Disney steps in with the credit.

Obviously not ideal in that its only 75 percent and its not a true refund, but a much better option than getting nothing out of it.

  3. When registering our kids online for our next cruise I noticed a statement saying if you choose to keep the Oceaneer band (for a fee) when you get home you can place it on an Infinity 3.0 console to unlock some game content.

Does anyone know what kind of content it unlocks? I know Disney is pushing for people to buy these bands as they now sell the charms for them. This sound like just another reason they want to sell the band. Is the game content actually worth it?

  4. I noticed the lack of excursions when my kids were 5 and under age range. In St. Thomas We wanted to go to St. John/Trunk Bay but the ships tour would not allow them. I researched how to go on our own and we did. Now we always do it on our own as you get more time there.

  5. Go to the dining host and tell them your diabetic and have to eat early or you get sick. Works every time!

My MIL has tried this before (she is diabetic) and no it does not work every time. The reality is if you are diabetic with late dining and cannot wait there are other choices around to eat, whether it is having a late afternoon snack, room service, or eating in another venue like Cabanas. Obviously accommodating the request to eat at your normal dining time will increase the enjoyment of your cruise. Its in Disney's best interest to want to make that accommodation. But to say that someones health is at risk because they have late dining is just not a valid argument. No one is being put in a bad medical situation unless they just refuse to eat anywhere else but the main dining room.

  6. I was on the Dream before drydock and it had the 2 games - Missing Paintings or Missing Puppies. There was no Muppets option. The Fantasy has the Puppies, Paintings, and Muppets Options.

I have done them quite a bit as I have 3 kids who love to do them. The Paintings and Puppies ones are much easier and simpler. Their are different outcomes but not many. The Muppets ones are a bit harder to solve and makes them think quite a bit more about the clue and what it means. I think there are more possible outcomes on that one too.

  7. If we do Trunk Bay on our own is there a place to rent snorkel gear? The shore excursion people on Disney Fantasy said if you don't take the ships tour you wont get snorkel gear and no place to rent. Sounded wrong to me but wanted to check to see what the true story is from others who have been there. Thanks.

  8. Just off the Magic and was in 8038. Substantial noise from chairs. We have been on quite a few cruises and been under pool decks at least 5 times. This was the most noise we have ever had. If I were booking again I would try to get forward of the mid ship elevators and be under the adult pool area instead of the main pool area.

  9. We did this tour back in 2000. I highly recommend it. The land portion is informative and on an air conditioned bus. They stop at several scenic places along the way. There are peddlers at each stop, but like the other poster said the guides keep them under control.

The sea part was a nice sail up the coast on a catamaran. They stopped mid-way to snorkel. Snorkeling was ok, but overall the trip was fun. On funny story is that my wife and I were happy to go on the sea portion to get away from all the peddlers. Well wouldn't you know, we stop in a little cove to snorkel and the peddlers come out on their canoes up next to the boat with goods to sell you. We just had to laugh. The boat guide said "The only sharks in the water here are the guys in the boats"

It is a long day and you won't have much if any extra time. As for shopping, I don't think you'll be missing much. Its the same goods you see at the other islands.

  10. St. Lucia is a beautiful island. I went there a few years ago by plane for a week so i do not know the ship excursions, however look for ones that sail or drive down to the Pitons. The view is amazing. We had actually taken a tour that drove you around the island in the morning and then you sailed on a catamaran back to Castries. It was a nice tour and if they offer something similar I would recommend it.
