Now look buddy dont get sassy. I never booked the independance but was asking questions about Southampton transfers. All my prior bookings and cancelled trips were on NCL and HAL. I have booked and changed many cruises over the years and I ALWAYS get my refund back. And just so you know last year Carnival made a change for me and waived their fee once for goodwill.

This not something RCI will do even after verbally promising. Lots of people on CC site also have issues too.

So stop being sassy and snippy. I have a right to start a posting about my situation.:o

Actually I wasn't being sassy or snippy. Your other post is titled Transportation to Southampton for Independance. You are now saying you didn't book independence. Many could be forgiven for misunderstanding your comments there.

Yes you have a right to voice your opinion. However others also have a right to respond. Just because we disagree with things doesn't mean anyone is being mean, snarky or snippy.

My comments were based on the fact that you have openly admitted to changing multiple cruises, regardless of lines. RC new change fees have been well known for several months. You clearly knew at some point of this or it would not have come up in discussion. Yet why you felt it acceptable to get a verbal agreement without it in writing is beyond me. The fact that you can not get them to agree to waive this fee without it being in writing is not a surprise to most on this board.

That's not being mean that's called common sense to ensure you have your agreement in writing just in case as evidence.

I wish you luck but you have clearly stated you are done with RC so it appears the other lines that are more amenable to your change of plans on a regular basis is probably more suited to you.

  2. For your information those were not RCI. My issue with RCI is a verbal promise was taken back with goodwill attempt to fix. The cost of Southampton was about transfers .

So there smarty trying to be mean and linking two posts

Actually your other thread stated it was the Independence. That is Royal, and you posted it on a Royal board. Not being mean, just commenting that you appear to have a habit of changing cruises on a very regular basis.

For someone that is supposedly an experienced cruiser, that openly admits they change cruises frequently, regardless of cruise line, these fees should not be a surprise.

  3. In the OP you said you changed from one cruise to another, you did not say it was a non-refundable fare.

Loyalty status should have no bearing in fixing an error. If they only fixed errors for diamond members and not first time cruisers, that would be unethical.

I'm surprised they haven't complained about being charged this fee on their other cruise which they openly admit to having cancelled multiple times:confused: (yes they have another thread going where apparently RC shouldn't sail out of Southampton due to cost of getting there:eek:)

  4. FAR FEWER KIDS!

Second week of a B2B. Hard to say how many less kids but I'd guess maybe 1/3 fewer.

Still a lot more than we originally thought we'd see when we booked this. As many have said it is because of the features of the ship (anticipated and factored into our decision) and I guess many U.S. parents have no issues taking kids out of school for a vacation (not anticipated and not factored into our decision). This would not have happened in my wildest dreams as a child!

Actally a lot of school districts have changed their structure and had all of last week off, and even more will be on this new schedule next year. That's probably why the increase. More and more districts are trying to get 1st Semester to finish before the winter break with second semester after winter break to summer. This resulted in the second semester being way longer. As such they are moving to an earlier return in the fall but with a whole week off instead of current/previous 4 day weekends.

  5. They match your status, but, not your benefits. You get some nice benefits, but, it's not like being Diamond Plus on Royal. You do get 5% off, but, before all this status matching started, Black Members (equal to Diamond) got 20% off.

I've sailed Divina out of FL a few times and I have always taken my boarding photo as my free photo since it shows the Ship, dates, ports, etc. As a single, I don't stop to pose for many pictures, but, always get that freebie.

We are D+ and whilst I agree the benefits are different we were quite impressed with the extra discount. We cancelled a GS on Liberty and booked the YC RS with Butler, CK equivalent, drinks etc for less before we even got the extra 5%.

Out of all the cruises we have booked, it's the one we are most looking forward to.

  6. Just booked a 2 bedroom, owners suite on the Jewel for 9 nights for $6750 total. Currently it is only my wife and I, which makes it $375 pppn, but I can add 2 more guests to the reservation for $550 more each, which would bring the cost down to $218 pppn. Which is a “suite deal” [emoji108]

Sent from my iPad using Forums

What's the cabin number? I've not seen a 2 bed OS but would be interested if there was.

  7. Oh goodness, my 19 year old wants to go to Alaska. Certainly not looking for sloppy drunks but they do love meeting new people their age from all parts of the world. So the perfect cruise would have a good mix of all ages....that are not puking on the pool deck from previous nights activities.

We have done Alaska twice with DD when she was around 8 and again at around 14. She loved both cruises. There won't be as many younger people but they do still exist!

  8. Actually lot of times, Summer, Xmas & some Spring Breaks 3rd and 4th passengers can be more then 1st & 2nd. Remember last time I wanted book my 2 kids in cabin was $999ea for first 2 & was $1299ea for 3-4 passengers, We ended up getting 2 cabins. But like you I almost always sail alone paying 200%...

Interesting, we have never paid more for 3rd passenger. We do however book as early as we can. And we only ever sail peak times as DD is still in school..

  9. SRF: I understand but in this case we are talking Aug 2017 for a trip in March 2019. Seem fair to you?

Yes because it's non refundable. If you wanted the option of it being refundable or with the ability to make changes then book accordingly. We always book suites so we don't even have the choice to book refundable anymore. Even if you booked a non refundable hotel that far out or a non refundable flight you are out of luck.

  10. We are pretty loyal royals. That being said we tried NCL and were not keen on repeating any time soon. I have sailed X before and DH has agreed to try the Edge. Will not get DH on Disney as they don't have a casino ;(

Normally all our booked cruises are with RC but decided to try Princess next year. Also have Seaside YCRS booked. We are really looking forward to that, probably more than any of our other booked cruises.

  11. Wait...You get charged for water you didn't drink? I don't understand. Please explain.:o

Worse food??? I'm starting to second guess this decision.

RC stopped stocking the mini bars. There is now an order form if you want it stocked in the cabin. Quite a few people thought it would be great as lots of people were getting home and finding erroneous charges for drinks from the mini bar for drinks they had not consumed. It was hoped that by no longer stocking the mini bars these erroneous charges would be eliminated.

Now RC leave a couple of large glass bottles of Evian (at least that's what's been in our cabins) instead. Since then more and more people have found that upon arriving home they are getting charged for these bottles of water. There are several threads on it. Just make sure after you get home what your room bill matches what your final bill shows as the water is added after you have left the ship. People don't know about it until the payment is taken.

Regarding food, that is always a subjective topic. Some items we have heard great things about have been a let down to us and vice versa. There is plenty to eat.

  12. Hi,

We are sailing on RCCL again for the first time in about 10 years. I was wondering what things have changed since last we sailed. Can anyone think of anything? We are sailing on Grandeur in March (12 day). Some things I was wondering about are what types of activities on sea days (free ones). I understand that they charge for some now? Any food events that are different?

    Anything else that has changed?

    Thanks!

In 10 years quite a lot.

    Bingo prices much higher.

No more horse racing by the pool (they were fun - I reminisce )

No more waiters everywhere trying to sell you drinks by the pool. With drinks packages it's more like trying to find someone to serve you!

Much more relaxed attire in dining room.

Fee for room service unless in GS or higher.

You can buy specialty dining packages.

    Not as many poolside competitions.

I'm sure others can add as this is not extensive!

  13. Hey there. I know this is tough, but what are the chances that RC can pull of a 3PM departure tomorrow based on what you know? I am seriously asking because we are holding off on our cruise credit for now.

    Thanks

I would say highly unlikely. But that's just my personal opinion.

Not sure on your time frame and work commitments but could you possible get the credit and switch to the enchantment tomorrow for your anniversary? There are suites still showing as available.
