  1. When we have parked at the port we were directed into the line for the ship, unloaded the check in suitcases and were then directed to the car park. We have used both the one that is slightly further down the road using the shuttle, and also the one right next to the terminal which I believe to be AB. It was very easy and a short walk. I would highly recommend.

  2. Sailed with Princess in November and with the 13,000 points I earned, I received a free oceanview cabin that could be used for Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska sailings. I sailed again in February and earned another 26,000 points and the letter I received on the last night was for a free oceanview for Caribbean and Mexico sailings AND it did not include Alaska. Because you have to sail by September with this offer it was basically useless to me because they stop sailing to these locations mid April. I called Princess and they advised me to send an email to see if that was the correct offer and the response I got was ridiculous. To have earned over double the points and receive a worse offer makes no sense. In addition, there was someone else on my February cruise that only earned 5000 points and they receive a free cruise plus $1500 casino credit. I spent quite a bit of time in the ship casino and it was by far the worst payout I've seen. No one was winning. Based on these experiences, I won't spend another $ in any Princess casino.

This was their response to my question about my February offer:

We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with your Come Back and Sail offer. We cannot disclose the criteria needed to qualify a specific cabin type. However, we can confirm that you received the correct offer at this time.

Sorry to trouble you. Going on first Princess cruise next year. On RC 1 point = $5 spun regular slots. How much is 1 point on Princess? TIA

  3. You can disagree but your wrong, look at post # 162.

I have read that post and I think you are missing my point. Someone stated that RC have upped their game when it comes to suite perks. I said I agree that they have on Oasis and Quantum class ships but they are still falling way behind when it comes to the rest of the fleet.

The perks listed in 162 whilst they are perks to some does not mean they are valued as game changers by others. If you sail star class and sail in a RS on other ships of the fleet and think the perks are comparable then you are welcome to that opinion. My honest opinion is that the two do not even come close and that RC needs to up the perks on non Oasis / Quantum class ships. For what we look for in a cruise most of the points in 162 are not applicable or have little value to us. We don't use luggage valet as its not applicable to us. Barefoot beach is great if you are going on a ship that has that port, but is a mute point if you are not going there. In room dining, yes is nice but I can get that in a GS for a fraction of the cost.

I just feel that what you pay for an RS on the rest of the fleet deserves a lot more than it currently gets. The first time we sailed in an RS as D+ there was no wow factor or anything that stood out as being special.

You are welcome to your opinion, but I am also entitled to mine. I am not trying to argue with you, but the whole point is people can share their views and opinions and not every one has the same experience on every ship. My opinion based on my personal experience, is that sailing in a RS when you are Diamond or above on a non star class ship doesn't add much wow factor when it comes to perks.

  4. Not really sure, I just know it was less than the prices I had seen in the past.

FWIW, we booked our RS at release, and before Suite Class was announced. I was hoping some of the perks would flow over, but it didn't happen.

Agree in the old days before these new refundable/non refundable pricing if you booked early there were some great deals but now the RS on some of the Freedom/Voyager ships are not much different price wise. Especially if you deduct the cost of the gratuities, specialty dining and drinks package from the Star class (more so if you have more than 2 guests) you can get much better value on Star class.

  5. Some of the "Loyals" would do themselves a major service trying a competitor line and see how hard they are working to win over converts with their perks and benefits; often at lower rates. I often blame those that won't try other lines for the constant chiseling of the Royal product; when Royal knows they can offer less they will do so.

We are. We have 4 RC cruises booked, 1 Princess and 1 MSC. We got black card matched and booked YC Royal suite on Seaside for less than the OS same week on Liberty, with a load more perks that are pretty much Star class equivalent. We might throw in another RC in the mix but will be doing the EDGE 2019

  6. My RS on Serenade 10 day over Easter this year was just over 8 grand total. Nowhere near Star Class on a 7 day trip.

Whilst there are some good deals on RS, our RS next summer is within $1000 of a 2 bed Aqua suite the same week on Oasis class. Also RS to Alaska is near on $12,000. It depends on itinerary but at $12,000 for a one week cruise then yes it is comparable. I know you pay more for itinerary, but my point is some itineraries yes you are paying similarly high prices. At those prices yes I think the perks could be better. I am not saying there aren't some good deals out there especially if you have date flexibility. But a suite program should be consistent across the fleet.

  7. But the suites on the other classes don't cost nearly as much.

I can get star class on oasis class for very little difference than what I am paying for RS on some of the other ships. The problem is we are pretty bored of those repetitive itineraries which means we are left with sailing ships that don't offer the same perks. There are plenty of other cruise lines that the suite perks are fleet wide, not class specific. We feel that RC should bring it more in line across the fleet. If that increases the price of higher end suites that's fine. At least you are getting the same product across the fleet.

  8. Hubby and I are platinum crown and anchor members and will be doing back to back cruises next March I have 2 questions

We are platinum members but after first cruise we go to Emerald

    1. Will this be recognised straight away and will we be issued a new card?

    2. Do we have to go thru immigration again even tho we have same room. Or do we just get off like it's just a port?

    Thank you in advance

You will have a B2B meeting that will go over the procedures but yes you will need to clear immigration at the end of the first cruise before the second one.

If you move up status during the first cruise let the LA know and you will be the higher level for the second cruise

  9. Suite party

    Free room service

    In room dining

    Priority departure

    Luggage valet

    Breakfast in chops

    Gold Card

    Priority pool seating

    Not a party thrower ;).

Free room service - may use once but at $7.95 over the course of a week and what you'd save not a huge benefit. Would rather have free specialty dining like Oasis class star class.

Priority departure, on the ships that still have CL you get that as D+ anyway.

Luggage valet, flights need to be later in the day we get straight off and fly early or drive so don't use.

Breakfast in chops, may use once a week.

Gold card - reserved seating which you get at shows as D+ anyway. Not interested in the poor locations of the reserved "poolside" seating. Normally nowhere near the pool with no shade.

Now if the suites got free internet, beverage packages and free specialty dining and a butler or genie I might feel like I was actually getting something :)

I agree they have upped the game Oasis/Quantum class but the rest of the fleet it is still pretty poor benefits in comparison.

  10. probably not for a cruise in 2 months

Someone stated that cancelling for work related issues is not covered by most insurance companies. I know at this point it may not be applicable to the OP but I was advising that there are indeed companies that do have this option on their policies. I actually booked 2 policies with them today. Both are for cruises this year and both include cancel for business reasons on the policies.

  11. I think a lot of the anger, epecially on CC, is a result of some sort of feeling entitled. Next to changes in mass market cruising, IMO a lot has to do with the loyalty programms, especially Crown & Anchor.

In the past on RCI the best perks onboard were given to top level C&A members. You could not buy into them with staying in a suite. Everytime they started some sort of suite perk it was quickly extended to their top tier C&A members, like CL access. In the more recent past RCI has decided to up their game in regards to suites and while C&A members still get some of it, there is things they won´t get without staying in a suite. We all know the outcry about nanning D´s from CL after inventing a DL and finally moving from CL to SL and with this eliminating CL access from D+.

Certainly the game has changed from best perks for C&A to best perks for suites. This causes anger and envy, especially from some frequent cruisers.

Sorry but I disagree. You state they have upped their game when it comes to suites. On Oasis and Quantum class yes. On the rest of the fleet no. There is absolutely nothing that I get (other than being escorted on when in an RS) when I stay in a GS or higher on the rest of the fleet that I don't already get for being D+. Oh I forgot the free room service. Please explain to me how that is upping their game with suites and what other benefits I am getting.

  12. Thanks for that, I am prone to motion sickness so thats a great bit of advice

If you are prone to motion sickness I understand green apples and drinking ginger ale helps.

The OS has a dining table and you can order regular room service or from the MDR menu free of charge. The MDR menu will be in a folder on the coffee table and your room steward will switch out every day for that day's menus.

  13.

I believe so EXCEPT for room service. Is an owner suite considered a grand suite? If so, free room service. Thanks for catching that about the OS.

As for #1, they will have priority boarding, but my point was on my first cruise, I didn't think I could arrive until later so as a first timer, it would be awesome to know I can arrive and board as early as 11am.

Owners suite is above a grand suite.

  14. The medical facility on the ship has a free supply of sea sick pills and band-aids etc.

You are allowed 2 bottle of wine per cabin to be brought onboard. Pack these in your carry-on luggage.

Most luggage will fit under the bed to save space in your cabin.

    Bring your patience.

You can get sea sickness tablets at guest services as well.
