  1. Only see a couple on Royal web and they are connecting. C&A rep said they are blocked? I chose an e1 on deck seven . I still wonder if it is a group that has blocked them or a travel agency. Rep said look in one month to six month and change to e-3 if I saw one. I'm Dia + and never have seen his booking problem with over 550 + days out. Did get 50% deposit and Dia+ balcony disc as always. Just curious if I booked theme cruise or what. Still time to cancel.

There are 9 e1's that I can see. I can see lots of availability across all categories.

If you select cabin type e then it doesn't always bring up e1's and e3's, it normally brings up best available. You can search by specific cabin number if you want.

  2. There's a rather large roll call already. And I'm on it!

Not sure about a block booking but there was a fantastic offer here in the UK and lots of people booked quickly.

If anyone hears of a group block booking please let us know.

Thanks for posting roll call.when I tried to find in search I came up empty handed:rolleyes:

Was surprised there wasn't one given it being a TA.:)

  3. All but a couple of e-3 cabins have been blocked. Is there anyway to find out what group, agency etc has blocked these cabins. Interested in this cruise but would like to know if this is large group, theme type cruise or what before I book.:

Just had a look. There are lots of D3's available and less than $100 total difference in price. Personally I would look at those. Given number of cabins available in the other categories, I suspect the specific category you want is just booked out pretty quick.

Not seeing a roll call yet for that cruise.

TA's are very popular with frequent cruisers. They may well just be booked. Lots of repeat cruisers book as soon as they are released.

  5. I was on Grandeur last month. The DL concierge said that D+ have been exited from the CL on "some ships". The only problem for me would be when the latte machine in not working in the DL but is working in the CL. This happened on Lady G in November.

Now -- who is more valuable to RC -- frequent cruisers or less frequent suite guests? I really don't know. But having just retired this year from teaching, and can cruise when it is not summer or spring break, it appears to me that it is the frequent cruisers who keep the ships filled during the off months. What a difference in the demographic! I love it:). Katherine

Corporate RC have been very clear that D+ are allowed in CL on all ships that have a CL. The difference is ships that have SL NOT CL. On those ships D+ only get DL. There isn't a CL on those ships for them to access! The concierge was probably referring to CL's being removed hence D+ no longer have CL to access on those specific ships.

Regarding demographics, we are frequent cruisers, can't sail off peak due to DD, and always sail in a suite when available. Not everyone sailing in a suite is infrequent, just like not all off peak cruisers are frequent:)

  6. I am of the opinion that children should not accumulate loyalty points. Points should start to accumulate at age 18. A child is not loyal to a company, the parent is.

I am sure that there are many a diamond plus teenager out there that hasn't paid for a single ice cream cone. Their parent has already accumulated the points.

To say the parents are loyal is accurate, however that doesn't make the child not loyal. If the child isn't loyal, guess what, when they become an adult they won't sail with RC and what level they have attained becomes irrelevant if they aren't booking cruises. We don't just book our cruises to suit us, we take DD's opinions into consideration. She has sailed several lines, and I can guarantee you she is loyal to royal.

Really? I have a D+ 6 year old with over 30 cruises under her belt. She saves her money she earns to spend on cruises. Whether it be candy, toys or items they offer the kids clubs, she directly contributes to the RCCL coffers. As far as loyalty, I am sure if you asked her who is her favorite out of the seven or so cruise lines she has traveled, you will get a quick reply. Long story short, you could not be more wrong.

Agree, DD saves up for spending money for arcade, gift store etc. also agree kids are able to determine their favorite cruise line early on. They decide for themselves which ships they like:D

  7.

I can't imagine why anyone would take the time to join Cruise Critic just to post a vague complaint and then just disappear without an explanation.

    :p

I agree that the OP was vague, but they did say they would post more when they got home. As Navigator doesn't dock until tomorrow (Sunday) I am not surprised they haven't come back yet with what went wrong. Let's see if they come back tomorrow.;)

  8. I'm not so sure about this. My wife had done 1 more sailing than the rest of us before we were married, so she had 7 more points. I called C&A and they actually added those points to me and the kids immediately. So by what you're saying when the kids turn 18 their points will fall back by 7 OR the threshold to reach the next status is increased? This is something I just did a couple weeks ago...

Slick mouse and Garycarla are correct.

You will all get status based on who has the most points. This comes into play more when reaching next level. DW may have reached next level before you and kids did, but you would still be bumped up to her level without actually accruing the same points. each individual will only have the points individually accrued. It makes the most difference at Pinnacle because I was told Pinnacle had to be earned individually.

I have sailed more than DH, he has same status as me but definately does not have same points.

When kids reach 18 they will have the points they have earned not what DW has earned. Likewise my DD will revert to points she has earned, not what I have accrued. They will keep the status they were at though.

I think you may have misunderstood when set up as you would have been same status opposed to same points. Eg if you marry a Diamond member you automically get given Diamond status but you don't get the actual points. As the highest point holder moves up the others move up as well, even though individually they don't have the points themselves.

Regarding where kids will be, if they have accrued 7 less points then their balance will be 7 less than your DW when they turn 18. It will just take them 7 more points to get to next level.

  9. Hello all,

We are fairly new to cruising. We are cruising on the RC Oasis of the Seas this summer for a 7 night trip. Via our travel agent and the RC credit card we have racked up about $400 on board credit. I'd like to use the money to reserve restaurants, but if I pre-book I have to pay up front as well. From other cruisers' experiences, my question is two fold: 1) If I make reservations for a restaurant once on board, will it deduct from my OBC? 2) Is it okay to book restaurants once on board or will we miss out by not having a reservation?

    Thanks so much!

    Philip

Anything bought onboard goes onto your sea pass card. Your OBC will be used first, then any remaining balance will be billed.

If there are specific restaurants and times you want, I would recommend booking first day if possible. Then you can relax and not worry. Remember you can change reservations if needed. Some restaurants may be more popular than others on certain nights, but if you have some flexibility on do I g time and order of restaurants, you should be good.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  10. I enjoyed DD on the 2/2/16 Quantum because I had my reservations. It was very frustrating in getting the desired times and it took about 2 weeks to get everything in order and this with the help of a C&A rep. Others weren't so lucky because they weren't aware or did so late, and wound up in the WJ. You would be screaming like a stuck pig like others on this board if this happened to you.

I don't see why they had to end up in WJ. If their first choice restaurant is unable to accommodate them there are plenty of other restaurants that would have had availability if they wanted. There are sufficient restaurants to accommodate all guests on any given evening, more likely not the restaurant they wanted or a time they liked. I am sure I read somewhere there is a set number of tables for reservations and a number are held back for walk ins.

It is just like any land restaurant. If you go to the most popular restaurant at the busiest time you may be lucky to get a table, but there will always be somewhere you can eat.

They should have realized after the first night that they needed to make reservations if they were having difficulties getting in to a restaurant they wanted at a time they wanted. They could have then been given options to choose from for the rest of the cruise by trying to make reservations. I doubt very much they ended up in WJ every night.

  11. Do you think I will need to bring a letter of consent to travel with my daughter's best friend who turns 18 on the day of the cruise? Both my daughter and her friend are turning 18 that same day and both have passports.

Depends on where you are sailing

    If USA then yes

  12. CR has indicated their new perks will be in line with land based casino perks and they will have tier levels. CR VIP members are all patiently waiting for these new perks to roll out. Many of us have a problem with not receiving CR emails, so every once in a while I'll call CR to see what specials they are offering as I don't receive any of their emails, only a few flyers in the mail.

Don't know if you have the latest 2015 CR sailings.

    Hi Linda,

    Can't wait for new announcements.

I have heard about the changes being more land based. What I was trying to convey (or ask or even speculate:)) was whether or not when the RC perks are changed if it is likely MLife perks will be changed as well and brought more into line with what the new benefits the RC VIPs will get onboard. Just speculation on my part, but I have a feeling if they revamp one, they may need to revamp both and hence the delay.

I am thinking that maybe it is difficult for the casinos to be theoretically running two different programs with different benefits on board. Currently Two separate programs, two seperate lists to maintain and each group getting different perks. I wouldn't be surprised if there have been complaints from both MLIFE and CR VIPs about different people getting different onboard benefits, that may have triggered them into having to review and revamp the program. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the revamp, both programs offer more similar benefits.

    We will hopefully soon know:)

  13. Thank you Bob, I apprreciate your response. Do you know if they still offer that or did they stop at the end of March?

Changes to the casino program have been delayed until next year. More info will be out later. There is a thread about the upcoming casino changes, and people are posting as info is coming out. I will see if I can find the link.

  14. Hi all, I have a 50 dollar OBC. I don't see it anywhere on my cruise planner page. Where can I See this credit?

    2. Is the main dining room open for lunch? I know the windjammer is, but sometimes I don't feel like waiting around for the crowd.

It doesn't show on cruise planner. It will only show on invoice.

If you booked direct with RC you can call and request an invoice to be e- mailed. If booked through a TA you will need to ask them to get.

It is listed towards the bottom.

  15. I am intrigued what cabin number op was in, and what the furniture consisted of?

The new cabin is at the end of the hall. I can't imagine large furniture such as beds etc being in hallway., and a lot of the larger furniture is fixed unless I am mistaken. As such IF something was blocking my door I would have called guest services, or spoken politely to the production crew to kindly move the obstructing items. Op doesn't state how long room was blocked. But I agree with others, confusing if blocked out or trapped in. If not remedied I would have taken a picture of the scene to substantiate my complaint.

  16. Thank you for sharing.

I travel with DD most summers without DH. I have actually never been asked by RC for any documentation from him. Providing names match I don't think there is an issue. We recently watched a program on Oasis about boarding day. There was one family that had an issue as mom had re married and oldest child had different last name. RC called dad and had him fax over a note.

There was also a newly wed with an issue as she had booked cruise in marital name, but as she had just married hadn't changed passport. She had to get her marriage certificate faxed through to confirm who she was.

  17. Only postponed. Until when is a big? A they announced that it will be on Harmony I wold expect it will still be on Oasis and Allure.

Will be interesting if Allure makes the changes during dry dock and then they implement on both ships after dry dock. I have wondered (assumptions only) if they postponed on oasis until Allure was ready to implement as maybe they would have preferred a "standard" across that class of ship.

I hope DD is on for our sailing:D I am quite looking forward to it.

  18. Hmm. We are a party of six, ages 56, 53, 29, 27, 26 and 6. I'm worried that my six-year old granddaughter won't handle a two hour meal. We are lucky we switched from late seating to MTD. Because there is no way she can last until 10:30.

You might want to consider mt family dining. They expedite the child's meal and AO collect from dining room, allowing adults to enjoy their meal at a more relaxed pace.
