  1. I have seen this asked before and people have been told that extra chairs wont fit- which I totally agree. We have an aft balcony and are cruising with many adult friends. Is there any way to get additional chairs for our balcony in this situation? These are photos of our balcony so there would be plenty of room for a group of 4 or even 6! Just dont know if its possible. Thanks! (photos from youtube video by La Lida Loca)

No such provision on Royal. And with the rate of re-infection, it is probably best.

A cruise is a big investment. I am not sure why  you would not take the time and get a PCR test now and ensure that you are testing negative. And an antigen test (if you can find one, your insurance company is compelled to pay for it).

Thanks... Im not "not doing" anything. I am just trying to be clear on the policies since each cruise line is different.

  3. So Disney Cruise Line has a policy that if you are recovered from covid within 90 days of sail date, show the positive PCR and a Dr note that you are recovered you dont have to test at the port.  I cant find any policy for Royal about recently recovered covid since you can still test positive for several months. Is there such a policy?

I am like you I enjoy having same servers every night. I am a traditional dining fan.  From what I am hearing the 2 options are all that is available since covid

That's strange because if I pull up the same cruise for May and go to check out, it lets me choose late dining 😞 Maybe it will open later. Thanks! The covid explanation would make sense!

  5. We have been booked on Odyssey July 23 in Europe for some time. Late dining is still not open as an option. I dont believe it is full since we have been booked for so long. Are there times it opens later? For similar cruises, late dining is open in May but not into June or later.

    Thanks in advance

I hear ya.  I'm normally a big advocate of the drink package even though we have the Suite Lounge simply because it cuts down the hassle and anxiety.  "I'm on vacation, I just want to swipe the card since it'd paid"    The best times were when they didn't require everyone in the cabin purchase, as DW's not a big drinker on land and makes up for it on the sea, whereas I can wait til cocktail hour in the SL; but they're back to requiring 100% participation.

Now the NEXT cruise is 13 nights, last I checked the package was $67 a day.  That's $1742 for the both of us.  Pay-as-you-go may be the answer after all, but I also have a nagging suspicion there may be a little "Sticker shock" at the bar once things resume sailing and RC's got some catching up to do in the moneymaking department.

I am not a drinker. On a call they said we could split it IF I had the refreshment package.  Right now our deluxe is $84 pre-gratuities so we wont be doing that... hopefully it drops!

The new User Interface shows the current cost and if you have previously purchased that item, it will show you the total price that you paid for this item.  What it does NOT show you is the per person/per day cost that you originally paid.  So if you paid $50 PP/PD for your DBP and with taxes the total came out to $413, it will show only the $413 and not show that the PP/PD cost was $50.  So it makes it a little difficult to compare current price (which is displayed in a PP/PD format) to the price that you may have paid at some earlier time.  With a little calculating or with good records you should be able to figure it out but they don't make it easy.

This is particularly true for dining packages as the new UI will now charge you gratuities where the old system did not.  My advice to anyone wishing to purchase a dining package is to do it before your sailing switches over to the new UI so that you aren't charged gratuities on your dining package.  They have recently switched Oasis over to the new UI (for 22 and beyond) so they are slowly adding new ships to the new UI and eventually (presumably) all of the ships will begin charging gratuities on pre-purchased dining packages.  I think the ships that have the new UI for 2022 and beyond are Symphony, Mariner and now, Oasis.  I'm sure others are coming soon.

Odyssey is new interface as well 😞 With $84 p/p/p/n deluxe beverage package  YIKES!

Yeah, that was my thought too. I might be willing to take the chance for something I was iffy about, but if it's important to me, my risk tolerance goes way down. 😕

Yikes!! For what it's worth, mine is showing a regular price of $84 but currently 30% off, so $58. Maybe worth keeping an eye on it?

Oh definitely and Black Friday is the best time typically. But I was shocked at the "regular" price because last week regular price was in the $60 range

  9. I had Odyssey booked for July 2021. I checked all the time and got it down from $6000 to $3200. When they cancelled it my husband convinced me to lift and shift to Alaska so I did. But now we have changed our mind back to Greece and the new booking is $6300 for July 2022. So that was on me that I screwed up our lift and shift but now I dont know if the prices will go back down. I doubt they will as I think they were because of all of the covid cancellations and now I think people are ready to sail again. The price has gone up $500 just from me booking it last week! Live and learn I guess and back to checking it daily.

  10. Sometimes picking seats has to do with direct bookings and indirect bookings. For example, we looked at a flight on British Air to Italy booked through American. Since is was not directly booked with American we could not book seats until 24 hours prior to flight. I cant recall all of the partner sites that are like that but I think Alitalia with Delta might be one. So I had to wait for the right price directly with American so I could pick seats ahead of time.......... and then of course the world shut down and we didnt get to go, but that was my experience and might also be why someone gets a snag on booking seats.

How old is your son?  Is there a sofa or loveseat?  Neither will open but if your son is young and small enough for the sofa, maybe.

He will be 17 when we cruise, so likely not small enough. I was just wondering if there REALLY was not a bed LOL! Sounds like no... Oh well, back to the drawing board!

  12. We have 2 families of 3 and trying to figure out if we can book a connecting room for 4 and 2 and if our son would have a place to sleep in our room (if we are in a room for 2). This would be on Odyssey so I know we dont know "for sure" but based on the other ships?

    Thanks!

    Hi there

when we have travelled with our teen daughter she has went to the first night meet and greet for teens and I would definitely agree for your son to do this too as he will meet all other teens on board the ship. And generally after that our daughter used the teen club to meet up with her new friends but they would just wonder around the ship and do their own thing at night - go for pizza or snack etc as teens upwards not really much planned activities I don't think

during the day you will have the teen compass (can't remember what it is called) but you will get that in your room daily and it will show you what is on for them through the day

there is usually some fun activities but again they will probably meet with their friends from teen club at pool and hang out there

It is fun and our daughter loved getting the  freedom to wonder around the ship. but we still got her to check in with us regularly either coming to see us or on her phone

He will have a great time... if the ship sails

This was our experience as well. We were seated with a family for dinner on our Disney Cruise and became great friends. We are all cruising the Greek Isles this summer (PRAYING) and the boys have remained good friends even though we are states away. They would meet their friends at the club then hang out around the ship. We would see them in all corners of the ship playing cards mostly. We had texting onboard so we kept in touch but he loved having the freedom to come in at 1am and order room service LOL!

Though April or later could be cutting close for him if you want it before Cruise. My 11yr old Grand Daughter taking Cruise in July, with no CV Vaccine available for her shouldn't be issue as it's US/Carib Cruise. My Step Mother just retired 2019, 4 other my younger Sisters and Sister In laws are still Teaching. Middle the nite here, can't remember if Teachers are in Phase 1b. Good Luck to you... Currently have 4 Family Members down with CV

I DID hear my son can get it as he is 16 so yay! I am so sorry about your 4 family members and I sure do hope they all do ok and recover quickly!  It will be interesting for sure. Right now Greece is locked down to tourists so that will be another issue- if Greece will be opened back up by then 😞  UGH- wish I had a crystal ball but I think my magic 8 ball is likely as accurate LOL!
