I would personally be leery of booking a july cruise. Ships still arent even fully crewed up. I'm expecting the start dates to get pushed back.

Really?  I guess I am more out of it than I thought.  I thought they had "test" cruises available starting soon for some ships.  That is what i figured this to be.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised.   Looks like that is the end of a good idea.  After posting this I read a bunch of posts where people seem to think they are cruising around July 4th.

  2. I have been half paying attention to this topic on Carnival for many reasons, one being that I don't sail on another line until December.   But I may do a thing and book my family on a surprise cruise in July out of Galveston, Tx on the Breeze I believe.   So my question is this.  I understand Florida but what about Texas and Carnival?  Does anyone know as of yet what the mask rules are in July out of Galveston?  My whole family has been vaxed so that isn't a issue.  The only thing holding me back is the not knowing about the rules and regulations for cruises as of yet.  You would think we would know soon as the cruise I am looking at isn't too far away.

I agree but the more restrictions lifted on land, the harder it becomes to keep them on a cruise.  I mean, if people can go to a bar, no mask, no social distance, etc, then it makes it hard for the CDC to say, not you cruise lines, everyone must wear a mask at all times etc.   I think the restrictions will be in place for a cruising restart in July, then one by one removed by November and by Jan 2022,  it will be back to normal 100% on the cruise lines.

There is a difference, IMO, between going to a local bar without a mask and going to say St. Kitts on a cruise.  One is a foreign land where you have no idea what variant or amount of vaccines have been given out.   I'm just saying that a cruise is different than on land thing.   For example, I'm going to Universal soon.  I do not expect anything to change there because of what the CDC says.   At least not for some time and that is within the US, Florida, but still the US I guess.  I just think people may be jumping the gun at the moment.

  4. I would hold off before I start to pack for a mask-less cruise..  It was specific to point out that business can require it and transportation is a must.  Cruises can fall under both those headings.  A cruise is so different than going to Aunt Janet's for a BBQ.  There are thousands of people in close quarters.  I'm just saying I would wait for specific direction on cruising before I celebrate.   Again, the CDC still can dictate the ports of call for re-entry into the US.

  5. Saw the doc this weekend and now I'm terrified to cruise this Christmas on the Independence.  It really did a number on me.  I forgot how many people are squeezed into one small location on a ship.  Covid is still here and we do not just cruise with US people, there is a possibility of overseas guests.   I never was on the side of only those with vaccines get to cruise but I think I am now.   That was terrifying.  Who knows how many people were tested on that ship and they still had almost 700 people catch it. I am vaccinated so I guess I'll be OK but my whole traveling party & kids under 16...man it's something to think about.

  6. So our June cruise was cancelled and we moved the cruise to 2022 and received $600 OBC.  What in the world can you do with that much OBC?  Can you pay tips with OBC?  Can you book excursions PRIOR to boarding with OBC?  We are on the Mardi Gras and would probably like to book much early, but would OBC count toward that since you are not on board.  I guess you can buy Cheers! but it is cheaper to buy that prior to too.  Anyway, is there a  listing of things to do with this much cash?  Maybe I'll put it all on red on the roulette wheel 🙂

  7. I do not understand why June cruises are not cancelled as of yet?  The cruise industry asked to reopen is July and were told that the CDC is holding it's line of November 1st.  So they absolutely know that June is out since they never even asked for it to restart then.  March 31, for example, is a deadline for some ships and that is coming up fast.  Why not just cancel??  Is it just to hang on to the money for a few more days and collect interest?  If so that seems shady.  I understand I can cancel anytime but why when the offer changed for so many other ships.   This just seems wrong.   Like I said, they never even asked the CDC for June.

There will be tables and chairs around the ordering area, but it will not be a sit down and order, not sure what you are implying by “normal”.

The steak house for example is a normal restaurant.  I said one with waiters so this should be self explanatory.

  9. Hello!  I leave for the Horizon in like 17 days and we are trying to figure out how much cash to bring.   One of the only things we need cash for on the ship is in the casino.  So I was wondering if when I go to the table, can I just charge $40 to my S&S instead of laying out the actual $40 in bills?

  10. In the breakdown you stated you would only need 2 packages, for the 21 and older.   Cheer! is cheaper before you board than on board but there  are no sales per say.  You could pay with a 10% off gift card as we do and save that way.

Yes I am the only over 21 in our room but my daughter wants the cheers package... not sure how that works if both of us have to get the package?

She needs to be 21 to drink and get the package.   They will know her age, no getting around it.
