  1. Hi All....I would recommend that anyone cruising with SS do exactly what the email that they received from SS for their cruise tells them to do. When we sailed from Copenhagen on May 22 there was NO pierside testing. Our email flatly told us that we were responsible to handle the testing and if we did not then we would be denied boarding. While it is always interesting and informative to read what the other OPs are being told, it may not apply to your specific cruise. So please do not make your decisions/ plans based on what others are telling you. Do what SS tells you to do.
  2. Oops...sorry all. Yes I meant to type Silversea personnel overseeing it all! It was painless if you came prepared. I was really concerned that this was going to be a really tough experience based on what I had read on various boards ahead of our cruise. But it was really easy.
  3. We just got on Silver Whisper in Copenhagen. Approximately 20 days ahead of departure we got an email from SS stating very clearly that we needed to provide a negative test (either by a 3rd party or a proctored self test) that was administered within 3 days of departure. And just as clearly they stated that they would not be doing any testing pierside and if you arrived without the negative test you would be denied boarding. There were also add'l rules around fully vaccinated ( 2 doses) and vaccinated up-to-date (doses + booster). The email was very clear..you must come with the negative test or you are not getting on the ship. At the pier there were various stations set up that were manned by Seabourn personnel and they asked for each bit of documentation (completed health questionnaire provided at entry to terminal with temperature taken as you turned it in, then the vaccine card, then your negative test results and then your passport). At each station your docs were scrutinized but it was all very professional and we were through these hoops in about 10 mins total. The one thing that was different was the amount of time it took to get access to the suites. Whisper is a small ship but we weren't grated access to the suites until about 4:20 PM with the mandatory 2nd half of the life boat drill happening at 5:00 PM so it was all a bit of a rush. But we are having a wonderful time and it is worth the hassle for the fun of the cruise.
  4. You have all been most helpful up to now on my concerns as a first-time SS cruiser. At this point (Silver Whisper cruise departing May 22 and we are flying to Copenhagen a week from today) I have no information on pre-cruise hotel and have not seen any luggage tags. I received this week all of the information about Covid testing requirements etc. My TA has been trying to sort out the situation for me but I am still in the dark. So...can I impose on you all one more time as to what the deal is?? Thanks so much
  5. Anybody have any updated information on Covid testing when flying to US on day of disembarkation? I finally received information from SS for my May 22 cruise yesterday. In that notification it clearly says that passengers are responsible for handling whatever testing their destination country requires. There is no offer for SS to do any testing. SS has booked us on flights home to the US at noon from Heathrow on the day of disembarkation in Greenwich so on-land options are out. Heathrow's testing is located in Terminal 5 and we are departing from Terminal 2 which is listed as 25 minute transit time from the testing area 1 way. So that option appears dicey at best. So we have booked a proctored test for the evening before which we plan on doing through ship wifi. Has anybody done that successfully? Is there any other option for getting SS to do the testing for us even if we have to pay? BTW we are doing a BtB cruise and in their note SS says that intransit guests (that's us) will be getting Covid tests that they are providing. So...advice? recent experience?? Appreciate any help!!
  6. My DH and I are booked on Silversea for a cruise departing Copenhagen on May 22. We have paid for a 1 night pre-cruise hotel through Silversea and have booked our flights through SS. As of today (May 5) we have no idea what hotel we are staying in Copenhagen. We have not received any luggage tags or any of the normal pre-cruise 'stuff' that we are used to with other lines. I have put our TA on the hunt to find out what is going on. Since we have not cruised with SS before this I am wondering if this is normal for how SS handles cruises? Am I worried for no reason or is something going on with SS? I am looking for guidance from those who are regular SS cruisers on this board. Thanks for any help you can give me.
