  1. We didn't do the Dubai to Singapore but we did Singapore to Shanghai. Actually 2 years ago today we were flying to Singapore. This cruise was by far my favourite cruise. We were very lucky and spent 4 days pre cruise and then spent 6 more weeks travelling around SE Asia. We fell in love with this part of world so much that last year we went to Thailand for over a month but got back right when the world was shutting down. I can't wait to get to travel again.

  2. We did an X cruise from Singapore ending in Shanghai last Jan/Feb and we just let X take care of the visa. We got the 144 hour visa, we stayed in Shanghai for two nights.

However X really didn't know what they were doing with the visas because  we would get different paperwork in our cabin and had to keep going to guest relations and requesting the proper visa.  I think at the end of our cruise we had the paperwork for every visa they offered.

  3. Will be following along as well. We are on the Connie for SE Asia in January with some of the same ports. We are going to be spending 5 days in Singapore before we leave. Our first time to SE Asia but not our first cruise. We are spending a month in Thailand after the cruise and then another 3 weeks in Cambodia, Bali and ending in Hawaii before coming home.

Angkor Wat is definitely worth seeing and spending a couple of days. For what you will pay for the ship’s Shore Excursion for 2 days in Siem Reap including flying back and forth you can spend a lot more time seeing the extensive Khymer sites that are spread out with a professional tour guide and a beautiful hotel before or after your cruise. We spent 6 nights before our SEAsia B2B on the Millie and had a private guide and driver for 4 days for just the two of us arranged through a tour company we have use many times in different parts of the world on our cruises. It was a fabulous experience and we could go at our own pace and see what we wanted to see. The trip out to Beng Melea was a highlight and something you can only do if you have a couple of days. Our guide Dara was a fabulous photographer who made sure you got all the right shots from the right angles of these magnificient ruins. On our first morning we went in the back way to Angkor Wat and I knew we were going to have an unforgettable experience. If you do the ship’s tour you will want to go back because you will realize there is so much more to see.

Yes please share the name of the company. We are heading there after our cruise.

  5. We have obtained Chinese visas four times. The old system only allowed one trip per application, but now the visa is for ten years which makes much more sense. The 144 hour visa only works if you are in transit from one country to another with an up to 144 hour stop in China. If I was travelling so far, I would want to spend more time in China, but that is just my opinion.

We are in Toronto and the process for getting a visa was very simple. We filled out the forms on line and printed them. Made an appointment at the visa centre. Took in the forms, official checked them and told me to come back in five days to pick up our passports and visas. I was finished (for both of us) before husband had parked the car. Five days later, paid the fee and collected passports, less than ten minutes again. Now we are good for ten years of travel.

Contrast this with a three hour our wait in the India visa office, but I have tried to forget that!

If we are only staying in Shanghai for a couple of days after our cruise would we need to get a visa or would the 144 hour one work. Going in January 2019 and just trying to figure this out. Thanks for any help

  6. Our captain on Equinox (7/28 cruise) only made announcements on sea days with minimal info and no chit chat, no updates as we left port either :(. He was quite the contrast to Captain Tasos who we would stop what we were doing to listen to... Captain invisible made me realize how much we appreciate the more outgoing Captains.

I think we had the same captain, and I agree that the outgoing ones makes for a better cruise.

  7. Ok, We have been many places with celebrity with 25 cruises and almost 1 year at sea...

What is a good place to revisit?

Getting ready to do an 11 day on Reflection on April 2 so getting excited as the Mrs. shops at Macy’s

I will probably book on this next cruise

    Thanks for any suggestions

This was our exact thoughts back in January so we booked our next cruise in Asia......

  8. We are booked On Constellation Singapore to Shanghai Jan 20, 2019. Getting info from this thread. Anyone done our trip before?

We’re considering leaving the ship in Hong Kong to avoid two more sea days and a return visit in Shanghai. Is that permitted? We would fly out of Hong Kong after an extended visit there.

We are also booked on this cruise.

  9. On our last cruise this became an issue with the person on the balcony next to ours. We could only use it very early in the morning when he was still asleep. We went to guest relations and the first time they said they would look into it. The next day he continued to smoke and my DH went again and the girl at guest relations was so rude to him.

DH couldn't sit out on the balcony at all after 9am because the smoke was to much for his lung, he was in a fire and has damaged lungs.

We have contacted Celebrity since we have been home and they have not even relied to our email.
