When this stated CCL had about $500 million in cash and over 4.5 Billion is customer deposits.  with current liabilities running 5X current assets.

I was aware that CCL had about $500 million in cash prior to the new debt/stock offerings however I was not aware of the $4.5 Billion in customer deposits.  Can you point me to a source?

Yeah it would be nice if someone who has access to this article could somehow copy and paste it into this thread.

I have a feeling that our cruising could be over because of all of this. We don't have plans to cruise till December for the Holidays and has been our tradition to do so for 32 years and counting.Have told my mom that we may have done our last cruise and she has a tendency to agree. We are only under deposit at this time. Mom is 89 with underlying health problems. We are originally from Minnesota and have said that if we were to want to go see family we might have to drive. We are used to always flying cause my dad flew for NWA for 31 years. Due to the merge we are Delta people now. But now, who knows as its going to take a long time for the airlines to recover too just like everything else.

I cannot copy and paste it because it would be a violation of copyrights law and also a no no according to the Cruise Critics terms of use.  It is a very good summary article.  Signing up for a free account usually gives you a limited number of free articles per month.

  3. A good summary of events in March and April in the Caribbean.  I found the negotiations between Jamaica and the industry very interesting; was not aware that any of the affected countries had done so...  also the comments from Grand Cayman about the impact on their limited medical facilities.  It may be a long time before Caribbean countries allow cruise ships again.

There is a link further down and it takes you to restrictions and severe chronic conditions is still there. Changes happening all the time and many computer , tech issues rep told me. They may remove it or it could come back. No one is cruising yet.

I do see a link further down but it does not take me to "severe chronic conditions", the subsequent links show the edited (no Item III) pdf.  No big deal to me as I am not cruising any time soon.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you want me to download and check.  The pdf I posted is the most current document on the Princess website (I believe) and the item III regarding chronic illness has been removed.  Now, whether that is really the message Princess wants to convey to its prospective passengers, I don’t know.

No need to download now, you just confirmed that Item III has been removed.  beg3yrs had mentioned that it was still there but like you I cannot see it any longer.  Not that this makes any difference, we are a long ways from cruising again and the forms and requirements will change.

The provided link works well enough for me but I am aware that others are getting a different result.  Here is a copy of the pdf document, which I downloaded from the Princess site:

I downloaded your PDF using a Mac and it does not show Item III for me any longer; the severe chronic conditions.  Can you download the attached PDF and check that version (not the one currently stored on your computer)?

I don't know whether this has been talked about before, but what is the problem with cruises just aimed at Labadee and CoCo  Cay?  We only cruise from Bayonne, -  so how about a 7 day with 2 days at sea, one day at either island, a sea day, one day at the other island and 2 days back to Bayonne? It could be increased to an 8 day or 9 day itinerary with extra days in the islands or sea days between.

The main problem is not catching the virus from someone in Labadee or CoCo Cay, the problem is catching the virus from one of the thousands who board the ship in Bayonne, some asymptomatic, and then spreading it on board to passengers and crew.

Understand what the no sail said, was expressing my thoughts as why they had to reply in 7 days if they cannot sail for 60

Because the CDC ordered them to do so.

"1. As a condition of obtaining controlled free pratique to continue to engage in any cruise ship operations in any international, interstate, or intrastate waterways subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, cruise ship operators shall immediately develop, implement, and within seven (7) days of the signing of this Order operationalize, an appropriate, actionable, and robust plan to prevent, mitigate, and respond to the spread of COVID-19 on board cruise ships.
    2. As a condition of obtaining controlled free pratique to continue to engage in any cruise ship operations in any international, interstate, or intrastate waterways subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, the cruise ship operator shall make the plan described in paragraph 1, above, available to HHS/CDC and USCG personnel within seven (7) days of the signing of this Order."

I'm sure if there were an outbreak on one of the ships, Princess would be checking everyone's medical background to see if they've recently had a test for the Coronavirus

I don't see how Princess could check everyone's medical background.  Where would they get the details, it would be a violation of HIPAA laws.

... A friend lives on a sailboat at Nanny Cay in the BVI. They have to shelter at home without even trips to the grocery store. Many of the people on these islands don’t have the food storage options we have, and certainly those living on sailboats do not. It sounds rather dire, and now there are security concerns on top of everything else.  Islands facing these kinds of issues will not be open for cruise ship business anytime soon. It’s not a matter of needing the money...they don’t have the medical facilities to handle anymore patients than they currently have and, especially after the hurricanes of recent years, they are having trouble meeting the daily needs of their residents.

Coincidentally the NYT published an article on the boat situation around the USVI and the government there shares the concerns you posted above.  They can hardly handle their own issues, needless to say those of cruise ships.  And I suspect the USVI and BVI are in better shape than other islands, St. Maarten in particular.

"The islands do not have the resources to handle such an outbreak. Medical professionals say the two hospitals on St. Thomas and St. Croix are understaffed and together have 20 intensive care unit beds"

The USA article was inaccurate.  Here is the Federal Register official website.  You can download the PDF from them and see.

    https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/04/15/2020-07930/no-sail-order-and-suspension-of-further-embarkation-notice-of-modification-and-extension-and-other

The order was officially published in the FR on April 15 and says:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a component of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announces a modification and extension of the No Sail Order and Other Measures Related to Operations that was previously issued on March 14, 2020—subject to the modifications and additional stipulated conditions set forth in this Order. The Order shall continue in operation until the earliest of the expiration of the Secretary of Health and Human Services' declaration that COVID-19 constitutes a public health emergency; the CDC Director rescinds or modifies the order based on specific public health or other considerations; or 100 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register.

The US no-sail order runs till late-June. That is why Princess and others have cancelled thru the last few days in June. The order originally was for 100 days, but, the next day CDC shortened that to 80 days.

Not so.  Attached as a PDF is the No Sail Order which was published on the Federal Register on April 15.  It runs for 100 days from the publication date, July 24, unless the CDC rescinds it, unlikely.

The air conditioning on board the ships is not a problem, as the air is not circulating. The ship take in fresh air form the outside, and directly to diffrent venues/cabins. Then the used air from this venue/cabin is blown out from the ship.

Not true.  Air in all the common areas of ships, theaters, restaurants, bars, etc., is indeed recirculated to save on HVAC costs.  Here is RCL's statement:

  14. Interesting how things change.  Princess hired an outside company to "clean" the Diamond and dispose of all towels, linens, and mattresses.  For the Grand, Ruby, Coral, etc. I agree with JF above, I would not expect much; perhaps "spraying/fogging" for PR purposes.  And who knows by time the industry resumes; may be a while!

....When I got off the cruise they said the only symptoms of covid were cough, high fever and SOB still so I just thought I was sick and didn’t think about it being covid until all the mild symptom people started coming out and they started publishing loss of smell which I 100% had. I couldn’t smell my daughters diaper or my coffee anymore. It was so weird. I will definitely update on antibody results! I do feel like it was probably just the flu, but even still I just wonder if anyone else got anything....

Do you know that the next cruise on the Royal, the one scheduled for Mar 7 (the day you disembarked) was cancelled due to COVID concerns?  I don't know what happened to the crew member.

"In a tweet, Princess Cruises said a crew member who previously served on the Grand Princess was transferred to the Royal Princess ship over two weeks ago, prompting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue a "no-sail order" for the ship until the individual was tested for COVID-19."

I've thinking cruise ships are phase 4

While there is no Phase 4 I understand what you are saying.  I have attached the complete set of guidelines as a PDF.  Phase 3 states:

"LARGE VENUES (e.g., sit-down dining, movie theaters, sporting venues, places of worship) can operate under limited physical distancing protocols."

And I don't see how cruise ships can operate with any kind of distancing protocols.

The stock has gone up 10% in after hours trading.

Stock futures are substantially up, 700 points.  Two bits of news, a potential drug and the new guidelines for opening the country.  Your crystal ball is as good as mine but the dead cat bounce may not last.  I don't see this virus going away anytime soon, unfortunately.
