There’s a saying in St. Thomas that rightly states “Keep your shoulder to the shoulder” that I repeat often while driving on the island.

Thanks so much for the info, kokopelli-az! The tours offered by taxistmaarten.com are reasonably priced, too.

I’m having a very hard time finding accessible excursions in St. Maarten/St. Martin. Celebrity’s tour is sold out and the tour companies I’ve found are not serving the island. Are there accessible taxis we can rent to show us around? I would like to use my power wheelchair but will go with a transfer wheelchair instead if standard taxis is all they have.

Guess I didn’t think it through. I really don’t need an accessible taxi after all. The transfer chair folds. Thanks for the tip about UberXL.

I tried the Pure Wick in the hospital and found it of no use if you are an active sleeper, the catheter slips out of place, even with wearing an adult diaper. Glad it works for you! Wish it worked for me. I use the Gorilla pads that stay put on the bed when you toss and turn, and hold lots with an adult diaper. Never failed me.

I am in a rigid frame, manual wheelchair. We typically cuise out of Ft Lauderdale where I am accustomed to accessible taxis that I simply roll up into the back of. Unfortunately there are no cruises out of Ft Lauderdale when we want to go, so I am looking at other options.
Do you have the contact info for accessible taxis in Ft. Lauderdale? I fly with a transfer wheelchair, but have reserved an electric wheelchair for the cruise.

I will be cruising on the Celebrity Reflection this March for the first time since having my leg amputated above the knee. I’ve reserved an electric wheelchair from scootaround.com as seems easier than a scooter to manage, easier to use in restaurants, bars, etc. I’m treating my able-bodied neighbor to her first cruise so I’ll have someone with me if I need help, and I booked an accessible ocean-view cabin. How else should I prepare for the cruise?

X is still taking reservations for my 12 night ABC cruise January 4, 2021 which I’m sure will be canceled. Don’t have much hope for our other cruises, either. I wish X would tell us when cruising will start again and quit selling cruises they know will be canceled!

I would hope passengers were required to sign a form stating masks and social distancing are mandatory. Violators are to be put off the ship at the next port of call. That should do it.

We just passed final payment for our January 4th cruise on Reflection. Maybe I’m nuts but I think North Americans can behave as good as the Europeans that are cruising now.

We usually tip $100USD a week for our Butler and $70USD for our state room attendent for normal service.

I was on the Reflection last year and used the acupuncturist on board. I had received a shot in my back a few days before the cruise and had terrible pain in my left leg. The Doctor on board said the pain was coming out of my back so he gave me ibuprofen and suggested acupuncture. The pain got worse overnight so I made an appointment and kinda checked her out. Turns out the acupuncturist had gone to a med school for three years to learn acupuncture so I was hopeful she could help me. She took the pain out completely so I could enjoy the rest of the cruise. Expensive, yes, but in a pinch it’s priceless.

We’re holding on to our January 4th, 2021 Reflection ABC Cruise. Hopefully they will have a vaccine or have testing prior to cruising by then.

I’m on hold right now, thanks to this board. Got the newsletter but didn’t read it. We booked a southern Caribbean cruise on the 26th. Thanks to the OP for starting this thread.

Well, I know where we were supposed to be, at sea after crossing the International Dateline on our way to French Polynesia.
Where we will be tonight is on our back deck in the sun BBQing a nice rack of ribs. Beautiful warm day here in the midwest.

It is a sad day. We should be getting on the Solstice today in Auckland for our B2B. I really wanted to see New Zealand. DH was stoked about going to French Polynesia. Oh well, what’s another 2 years. We booked the Sydney-Honolulu cruise for April 2022.
-
My cruise is supposed to start Apr 14, 2020 in Auckland, NZ. Prime Ministers in NZ, OZ and French Polynesia have banned cruise ships until June 30. Our cruise is still selling cabins. Makes no sense.

Just got email from Celebrity that no one over 70 can board without Drs. Note It’s true, go to your email.

We are going! Apr14 Auckland-Sydney and Apr 25 Sydney-Honolulu. If the ports are open, we’ll be there. I am super excited about seeing New Zealand and hubby is stoked about French Polynesia . I’m optimistic the cruise will happen.

I’ve seen them many times on warm weather cruises. My husband has two.

It’s past final payment for us so I guess we’re going unless Celebrity cancels. I’m more worried about being in the international terminal at O’hare.

St Lucia notified a Costa ship their passengers with Italian passports would not be allowed to disembark but the other passengers were welcome. Of course the ship left instead.
-
No, don’t cancel. We are booked on Solstice Auckland to Sydney and the TP after that for a total of 28 days on the ship. Just be prepared by wiping down surfaces in your cabin and on the plane and wash your hands!

Really happy to hear we can order off Blu’s menu in Luminae! Hope the Solstice does that.

I love this ship! Cruised on her 3 times before the pandemic, and we’re booked for March to the eastern Caribbean in my first non-suite accessible ocean view cabin, only accessible cabin left on the ship. Looking forward to a great cruise on a great ship! Will post back on her condition after the cruise.
